Primordial Lust System

Chapter 53: Memento

"Interesting," Seraphina breathed, her eyes scanning the gauntlets. Pretty decent. She sighed, only pausing after seeing the warrior-class prerequisite in order to equip them, which intrigued her. Now that she looked back, she wasn't quite sure what his class was anymore.

He had the strength and physique of a warrior, and the intelligence to wield his mage-attributed talent with finesse.

So which was it? Her brows arched in curiosity as she glanced at the youth before her. He equipped them, his fists lighting up in a brownish sheen, streaks of light spreading across his body, imbuing raw attributes into his form.

So, a warrior? she mused. "Interesting choice," she breathed, her curiosity temporarily sated.

"Incredible!" Aurelian exclaimed, a sigh of relief escaping his lips. He was glad his class worked just as it had promised, or else he wouldn't have anyone to cry to.

He could already feel his body growing stronger, only this time, a bit strangely. This change wasn't accompanied by the familiar warm streams of energy, just raw strength imbued into his body after dripping a drop of his blood on it, marking it as his, given it was a blood-bound weapon.

More intriguing were the gauntlets, shimmering with an ethereal light before flickering out of sight after a few seconds. He could feel the additional attributes, and the gauntlets, but just couldn't see them. Was this normal after equipping blood-bound equipment? he mused, staring intently at them, just about to spiral deeper into thought before Seraphina cut him off.

"I suppose it's time for me to leave," she breathed. "I have other important things to do," her voice lowered, "but don't worry... our paths will cross again, sooner than expected."

"Huh?" Aurelian's brows furrowed as he took in the information before frowning. "Wait, you're leaving? Just like that?" he began.

"Uh?" Seraphina turned back, her eyes locking with his. So he did care after all, she mused before cracking a smile. "What, missing me already?" she teased, her figure hovering just before the green portal that had swirled open after he'd slain the Armored Alpha Quadrupedal Wolf.

Aurelian smirked at her, a shameless grin stretching across his face. Nodding at the opportunity, he voiced out, "Yes. Matter of fact, I don't think I can go without you for another second."

"Huh?" Seraphina stared blankly, her eyes widening in surprise, warmth surging through her, exploding into a fuzzy feeling. "Really?" she breathed. Was he just playing aloof all this while? Myriads of thoughts flashed across her mind, only for the next words out of his mouth to dash all her hopes away, causing her lips to twitch rapidly.

"But I think if you left me a memento to remember you by, that would really help. Say, like... a huge sack of gold? A mystical artifact, class isn't an issue, or maybe a powerful skill of some sort..." Aurelian blubbered on, spewing nonsense until she couldn't take it anymore.

"Y-you... shameless bastard! You want to milk me out of my treasure?!" Seraphina snapped, her eyes glowing with a knowing light, realization dawning on her. The warm fuzzy feeling sizzled away with it.

"Hmmm, I wouldn't say shameless, but since you've brought it up, I'd say the shameless party would be one who milks poor youths out of their gold, then leaves them with cliché lines. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Truly shameless. But fine by me..." Aurelian continued, watching her face grow redder as a blush crept up her cheeks. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore.

"Fine!" she mumbled, snapping her fingers. The interspatial ring on her hand glowed faintly before an object gleamed into existence, pressing against her palm.

Rubbing it softly against her fingers, she traced its surface with reluctance flickering in her eyes, an amusing sight. Then she flicked it through the air, sending it flying toward him.

"We'll meet again, Aurelian," she murmured, her figure vanishing into the swirling portal.

"Huh?" Aurelian reached out instinctively, catching the object. His eyes widened as he stared at it. "An egg?" he whispered.

"A blue egg?" he muttered, scanning it twice just to be sure. His eyes twitched as questions formed at the back of his mind. What the fuck was he supposed to do with it? Eat it?

Had she tricked him? Aurelian groaned in frustration. Great. Just fucking great! He paced around the dungeon, trying to rein in his frustration, and failing epically. Just as he was about to lose it, his face lit up momentarily, a thought crossing his mind.

"Argh, yes. Why hadn't I thought of it?" Bringing the egg across his line of vision, he scanned it with his advanced Appraisal.

[Unhatched Entity of the Lifeform: ???]

[Unawakened Bloodline: ???]

[Rank: Epic]

[Level: 0]

Great. That answered a lot, he snickered sarcastically, eyeing the rows of question marks. The only thing keeping him from eating it was the display showing a potential bloodline and its rank.

"Maybe a pet?" he breathed. "Yeah, not bad." Still, it left the question of how he was supposed to hatch it. This was getting too complicated. Inhaling sharply, he tossed the egg into his interdimensional storage ring. He'd figure it out later. For now, it was time to fry larger fish.

He was already on the edge of breaking through. Becoming an E-rank was only a matter of time, so he decided to push for it. One last dungeon run. As he walked out of the swirling green portal, a thought lingered at the back of his mind:

I wonder if crossing into E-rank will trigger the awakening of the third Supreme Record?

If memory served, it had more or less implied the awakening of other Supreme Records once his mortal vessel grew strong enough to house them.

His obsidian eyes flared with a glimmering light. The first two Supreme Records were already reality-altering, allowing him to replicate and merge talents. What crazy effect would the third hold?

Only one way to find out. He smirked as his figure vanished from the dungeon.
