Chapter 538 To tell, or not to tell?
A dimensional shockwave was no joke. If one of those hit them, they could forget saving even their souls from being wiped out there was no coming back from that even if a Divine class healer came to resurrect them.
Knowing this information, they could only reluctantly agree to let Alex keep Brontes with him, despite their instincts screaming at them to keep as far away from the thing as possible.
Olgierd, who had been uncharacteristically quiet this whole time, finally spoke up. His deep voice carried an edge of unease, which went against his usual character. "The Lux are going to notice this. Whatever you just unleashed Alex, you've painted a target on the Federation's backs. Especially after you forcefully destroyed their wormhole."
Alex met Olgierd's gaze with a grim expression. "I know. That's why we need to use this time carefully. I don't know how long it'll take for Brontes to recover, but even when he does, we can't just keep relying on his power to overcome every obstacle we have. How else will our awakened be able to grow and gain experience?"
The others looked at Alex with some surprise after hearing the small amount of wisdom he let out in his last words. It seemed to them that not only did he gain an incredible amount of power after becoming a higher life form, but even his own personality seemed to have experienced some shifts.
After exchanging some words for a few minutes, everyone made haste back to the main fleet.

The remains of the Lux fleet were scattered across the void, torn apart by Brontes' attack and the shockwave caused by the collapsed wormhole.
Federation salvage teams worked tirelessly to extract any usable technology or information from the wreckage. Alex and Mira, Althea, Isla, Olgierd and Farnes were gathered in a command room, surrounded by holographic displays showing the progress of the salvage operation.
But despite the task of salvaging information being a huge undertaking, this wasn't the topic of conversation in the room of powerhouses.
"It seems the situation over here is quite odd… Something blocked them from being able to see any of the battlefield, and they couldn't even enter the area even if they wanted to, with a barrier blocked them." Olgierd muttered aloud in a questioning and confused tone.
When they arrived back at the fleet, they fully expected to meet Principal Farnes and every single other S tier they had at their disposal waiting for them with despairing looks on their faces.
After all, how could one miss the destruction of an entire planet, a wormhole and a fleet of enemy race's ships?
Well, despite the improbability of it all, it seemed they were intentionally blocked from doing so.
This left only a select few people who knew what really happened in what started off as a simple rescue mission.
Of course, they dragged Principal Farnes in the know as well since he was currently the most powerful person in the fleet, so he had a right to know.
Unfortunately, Captain Korn and his men were unable to escape the destruction caused by the shockwave resulting from the collapsed wormhole.
Their ships were simply too far away from Isla, Althea and Olgierd's ships for Brontes' barrier to reach, and so unfortunately they were unable to escape death.
Alex felt guilty and sad at first after hearing of this, but his mood quickly did a reverse when he heard from Mira how they all left her behind on the surface of the planet to die.
From that moment onwards he couldn't care less what had happened to them.
Alex looked around at the people in the room and noted how each of them were wracking their brains to figure out what had caused that blockage.
But internally, he had some ideas that he wasn't quite willing to share yet.
'Brontes' abilities allow him to block any signal and technology within his range… At first I though this was just limited to the area of space surrounding us, but perhaps it extended farther then I could have ever imagined…'
Principal Farnes turned to Alex, and asked the question that everyone in the room were dying to know.
"Just what is that beast then, Alex?"
Alex was unsure of how to answer this at first. Should he tell the truth, and reveal the true extent of Brontes' abilities to everyone present, or should he only tell half truths, mixing real with fake?
They were his greatest allies, as the leaders of the Federation they naturally wanted him to succeed and become just as powerful, no, even more powerful than themselves. But at the same time you could never really know what someone's hearts were like.
All it took was just an inkling of jealousy to spawn in one of their hearts for Alex to be killed in an instant. After all, if Alex could control Brontes, then what stopped them from doing so?
As people who have already experienced so many years with such power at their disposal, their thirst for even more power had never died down, so what would they do when the opportunity to wield a power they had never even dreamt of was presented to them on a platter? All they would have to do was remove the small, insignificant B- rank obstacle that stood in the way between them and a Divine beast pet.
After thinking it over, he decided to only tell some truths, and keep some of the more sensitive details to himself.
After all, he still kept his Soulforge talent a secret, so what difference did more secrets make to him?
"He's a Divine beast, and he's my tame." He spoke plainly to them, laying it all out.
All of them, except Mira and Principal Farnes, had already heard him mention something about a taming pact with the beast, but they thought they might have just misheard at that time. Read exclusive content at empire
But after hearing it confirmed from the source himself once again, they couldn't just ignore the reality this time.
