Chapter 215: Aura Radar Ability, Judgment Affinity
Ding!
---
[Choose between 3 skills (Shadow Affinity)]
[Gain +10 stats to your Strength, Agility, and Constitution, and +20 to your Soul (Void Affinity)]
[Gain no skill now, but instead you must fill the "Hatred Bar" before reaching Level 5 to gain an extremely powerful skill (Hatred Bar)]
[You take a massive gamble and immediately receive an "ability" right now. It could be a god-like ability that makes you invincible, or something that cripples you. It is all up to luck (Oblivion Affinity)]
---
The glowing panels hovered in the air before Sam, each one shining with its own faint aura of power.
As always, two of the choices were locked.
The [Chaos] and [Time] affinity rewards were unavailable during a second milestone.
Those two required patience.
He could only claim them after finishing his advancement task.
That left the other options.
Sam's eyes slid over each description, reading them once more even though he already knew where this was heading.
And then there was Oblivion.
Immediate reward but absolute uncertainty.
Sam didn't even hesitate.
He had already promised himself he would take the newest milestone reward each time, no matter how risky it seemed.
"Oblivion affinity."
His voice cut through the quiet chamber.
Fwish! Fwish!
The other panels blinked out, leaving only a single message burning before him.
[There is nothing you can do but keep going forward, for all that remains behind is pure Oblivion.]
"Very philosophical," Sam muttered dryly.
A deep purple aura flared around his body, swirling like a living storm before rushing inward.
It pierced his skin and sank into his core with the weight of a falling star.
Sam gasped as a clawing sensation tore through his soul, as though invisible fingers were scratching against the very essence of his being.
His vision swam. His eyes burned.
Purple light bled from them in faint streams, curling like smoke into the air.
New panels unfolded before his gaze.
[You will be granted a random ability.]
[Abilities may be incredibly powerful tools or… things that may actually be negative to the user.]
Sam's brow twitched.
The idea of an ability that could hurt him was strange, but he didn't dwell on it.
Instead, a massive list suddenly expanded across the panel, a cascade of names stretching far beyond the edge of the screen.
The very first ability that caught his eye nearly made his heart stop, [Skill Lobotomy].
"…Hell no."
He grimaced and quickly looked away.
The list began to roll on its own, names blurring past faster than he could read.
Click! Click!
The sound of invisible gears echoed softly as the system prepared its choice.
Sam couldn't see any of the abilities now, only streaks of unreadable text flashing by like the spin of a slot machine.
'So that's how it's going to choose.'
Click. Click. Click.
The panel slowed.
'I hope this doesn't feed my gambling addiction.'
Until finally—
CLICK!
The list stopped.
The selected ability gleamed in golden text.
Ding!
[You have learned "Aura Radar."]
"Oh?"
Sam blinked.
That didn't sound bad at all.
In fact, it sounded almost… useful.
He opened the details at once.
[Ability: Aura Radar]
[Allows you to focus your aura and send a pulse that will reveal how many opponents are around you, and also sense their presence through the aura they emit.]
"Hm."
He studied the description with a faint nod.
His [Void Watcher] class skill already allowed him to pierce illusions and bypass stealth, but this ability focused on sensing presence itself.
Different tools for different situations.
He would need to test it to see how far it could reach, but for now it was a solid addition.
Satisfied, Sam closed the panel and turned to the next set of rewards.
Ding!
Two shimmering scrolls materialized in his hands.
The [Skill Tier Advancement Scrolls] he had earned earlier pulsed with quiet energy.
Without wasting a second, Sam poured his mana into them.
Twin panels flared to life.
[Which skill do you wish to evolve to Tier 2?]
The choice was easy.
Only two of his skills were still trapped in [Tier 1].
Ding! Ding!
[You have evolved "Void Rush" to Tier 2!]
[You have evolved "Gaze of the Primordial" to Tier 2!]
"Perfect."
With that, his entire arsenal was now raised to [Tier 2].
It would take eight days for the upgrades to fully settle, but once complete, he would finally see their true potential.
Sam exhaled slowly, a small but satisfied grin crossing his face.
Then a new panel appeared, glowing bright yellow with a balanced scale at its top.
Another affinity.
[Their strength only seems to grow, and the further we go, the more enemies are revealed…]
[But in the end, they will all face our "Judgment."]
Ding!
[Based on the current path you are taking as a Primordial… you have been granted the "Judgment" affinity.]
"Oh?"
Sam's eyes flared with excitement as a grin spread across his face.
Another step forward.
Another weapon in his growing arsenal.
[Hell-Mode Analysis: The further we go, the more powerful our affinities will become.]
[And… the last three are going to be the most powerful and game-changing. Let us proceed and wipe them all =)]
"Hm."
Sam nodded to himself.
He was currently at [Forsaken] rank, and the path ahead was still long.
The awakener rank system floated in his mind.
---
[Novice → Apprentice → Adept → Expert → Master → Ascendant → Forsaken → Immortal → ??? → ???]
---
The final two ranks remained hidden, locked behind the future.
But if the last three affinities were truly the strongest, then the journey beyond Forsaken would transform him completely.
He already possessed seven affinities.
When his evolution was complete, he would hold ten.
[Affinities: Shadow, Chaos, Void, Hatred, Time, Oblivion, Judgment]
[Every Primordial has ten affinities, but they vary from one another. Not a single Primordial has the same batch.]
"Hm."
[But our batch… is going to be the strongest one of them all =)]
"Good."
The quiet confidence in his voice carried a sharp edge.
For what lay ahead, nothing less than the strongest set of affinities would suffice.
Only overwhelming power would allow him to survive where every other Primordial had failed.
A new panel opened, revealing the description of his latest acquisition.
---
[Judgment Affinity]
[Description: They think they can judge you, decide your fate, but at the end of the day, only those who possess true power may do so. Become that being.]
[Hell-Mode Analysis: There's nothing to judge here, only our own strength.]
---
"Hm."
Sam lowered his gaze as the [Primordial Sword] at his side began to glow with renewed brilliance.
A streak of yellow light joined the swirling mix of colors already embedded in the blade, each hue representing a different affinity he had mastered.
The new power sank deep into his soul, filling him with a steady, unshakable energy.
The weight of Judgment was unmistakable, a force that demanded dominance and recognized none above it.
For a moment, Sam wondered what the final three affinities would be.
How powerful could they become? How far would they push him?
The thought sent a ripple of anticipation through his chest, but he quickly set it aside.
Those revelations were still far ahead.
For now, this new affinity meant something immediate—A new class skill.
And right on cue, another panel appeared.
Ding!
[You have unlocked a new Class Skill thanks to your affinity: Blood Verdict]
