Pretending to Be an Untouchable Crime Boss

Chapter 300: Phone call.

Sophia was still… confused… to be honest, she had been confused from the moment she heard about his whole government deal… this alliance. And, of course, she didn't fully believe in it, no, she didn't believe the whole thing, it seemed impossible. Even when she heard it from James himself, she still thought it was just something that seemed big but, in reality, they weren't that influential to the government.

And now, hearing it from Hector, that the government would actually call them… yeah, it just seemed like too much for her, something that was just stressing to her…

But shit, she wasn't the only one that was stressing, because once again Linda was on fucking fire, crashing out in the office.

"What the fuck is this?!" She punched the laptop screen, which immediately broke. "How the fuck can this happen every single fucking time?!" She punched it more and more, just pounding it so much that the table shook and documents just fell off… the document they worked for hours with… "Why can't we fucking relax for one single fucking day?!" She eyed Thomas, once again like a bull, her eyes red and breathing like running a marathon.

"Yeah well—"

"You shut the fuck up, Benjamin!" She literally flicked her eyes at him. "I don't want to hear your annoying sorry-ass voice, you fucking dick-sucker idiot!" She shouted at him, piercing through him with her eyes… and using words she didn't really use before… well, it worked and Benjamin indeed shut the fuck up. "National emergency and the fucking cartel attack them?! How the fuck?! How?! What the fuck are the agency doing when they had a fucking list with hundreds and thousands of names with potential members of the underworld?!"

She slammed her hand once again, but this time her knuckle started bleeding, though she didn't really seem to care about it as she eyed Thomas… just eyed him like a demon, with her hair all messy, blood dripping to the floor, and her eyes just glowing red… and yeah, she was waiting for an answer.

"We created a bit of chaos… and things are not going too smooth with it." Thomas answered the best he could, wording it to not seem attacking with it, or rude, especially right now when Linda was fucked up.

"Chaos?" She asked back immediately, followed by a chuckle… well, even if Thomas tried, he failed. "So while we're working on this shit," her voice was still low, "nobody doing a single fucking thing?" She kept eye contact with Thomas.

"Exactly."

"Whoa… why are we even doing prisons, huh?" She now glanced around at everybody. "We can't even arrest one single motherfucker because everyone is an incompetent dickless bitches doing nothing all fucking day! This is why we're in shit!"

"But nothing happened." Benjamin said… though it was more like the words slipped out of his mouth by accident… still, everyone heard it, and Linda immediately snapped at him.. again.

But he was right… because to them, the only person who truly mattered was James himself. If Hector dies, then let him die, James still lives… yeah, maybe he would become worse than ever, but he'd still be alive. That's exactly why nobody was really stressing out, because James wasn't here, he couldn't be in danger. And Linda too wasn't crashing out about that point either. She wasn't stressed like Sophia, imagining what could have happened to him… no, because she stood on the same side, thinking like Hector, like Ramirez… it didn't even cross her mind that such a thing could have happened to James… no, what she was stressing about was this whole fucking government and the system.

"Nothing…?" She giggled again, like she had truly lost her mind. "A foreign fucking country's special forces, or agents, or whatever the fuck they are, come into our country or better, sleeper cells… go in and kill eighty-two people connected to the cartel so far, and they're still going… while we…" she jabbed a finger at herself, then waved it around the room…"sit here fucking staring at documents, while ur agency is jerking off, or better yet, stealing whatever they can until we fuck them in the ass. And the only reason we even know about any of this is because that motherfucker called me up to tell we're fucking useless." She giggled again, then smiled at Benjamin. "And you say nothing fucking happened?"

Silence… a big one, an awkward type of silence, or more like the one when a teacher disciplines you, like embarrassing you in front of your classmates. That's how Benjamin felt about it, though he had a question even in this situation, of course he had.

"But who called you?" He asked, because well, he came in later when Linda had already lost her mind.

"It was Darvik Vinhommen." Stephen said, as he was the most calm among them. He was sipping some coffee, he didn't even look bothered by any of what happened.

"Darvik?" Benjamin looked at him. "Who is that?"

"A motherfucker who called me up!" Linda suddenly shouted again. "He fucking called us jokes and shit, and then fucking told me what's going on!" She slammed her fist once again into the table and finally she sat down… but her answer wasn't the greatest, so Benjamin glanced at Stephen again.

"Darvik Vinhommen, Minister of National Defence of Maraci… though we don't really know what position he actually holds." Stephen said in a mysterious way.

"What does that mean?" Benjamin asked, sensing that again everything was getting twisted.

"Sometimes he's the foreign minister, other times the finance minister, he keeps switching positions all the time." Stephen explained as he took a sip. "Though we know he was the leader of the Black Fang terrorist group… well, the Union called it a terrorist group, but it was really the rebel force in Maraci opposing the government." He took another sip. "Then he became an arms dealer, he also sold blueprints for narco-subs." He finished his coffee and locked eyes with Benjamin. "He's done a lot, and his network of connections is unbelievable, but the Union's intelligence agencies think he's the enforcer or like the executioner in Maraci. He supposedly has power over the military, the police, everything… but those are just guesses. Nobody knows exactly what he really is."

Another heavy silence… the only thing breaking it was Linda's loud, uneven breaths and her leg tapping the floor relentlessly, Darvik had really pissed her off.

He literally said, "You fucking clowns."... while laughing the whole time… it was a strange call. He even mentioned James himself, claiming to be good friends with him… in fact, he said it at least six times. What he was trying to imply with that… Linda didn't really thought about it as she was fighting to keep herself from snapping, from cursing him to hell, because they hadn't done anything wrong, they had helped… but in the meantime, Darvik had truly made a mockery of the entire government, the entire system… and if it leaked out… it would be really, really bad.
