Chapter 23: The Smoky Dragon
The winds howled, and the waves crashed violently, as if the sea itself was warning of an approaching storm.
Whitebeard's fleet advanced steadily, the ocean parting around them, as though the waves themselves made way for his arrival.
Aboard the "Moby Dick," Whitebeard stood with all his imposing presence, his piercing gaze fixed on Marineford, filled with unshakable power.
He raised his colossal fist and struck the air. The very sky cracked apart, and the sea erupted into a massive seismic wave, crashing into the walls of Marineford, shaking the ground beneath the feet of the soldiers.
"Gurururururu... It has begun!"
With a voice like thunder, he gave the order:
"Charge!"
In an instant, his commanders—Marco, Jozu, Vista, and the others—leaped forward like an unstoppable storm, striking at the Marines with their full might.
Atop the platform, where the four Admirals were seated, no one had moved. But then, suddenly…
Smoker stood up.
He raised his cigar to his lips, took a slow, deliberate drag, and then exhaled the smoke in a deep breath.
He tossed the cigar to the ground and crushed it under his heavy military boot.
A deep silence blanketed the battlefield.
Then, in a flash, he shot into the air.
Smoker ascended into the sky, his body transforming into pure smoke, rising with terrifying speed.
The smoke gathered around him, but this was no ordinary smoke…
It was black and white, infused with a deadly aura, as if darkness and light had merged into one.
Then, at the heart of the sky, its shape began to take form…
A colossal dragon!
But this was no ordinary dragon…
It was a smoke dragon, so enormous that its head soared beyond the clouds, its vast wings stretched across the entire horizon, covering the sky from east to west, while its massive tail coiled around the landscape, as if suffocating the very earth.
Its piercing black eyes glowed with a deadly light, a gaze so terrifying that everyone who saw it felt a fear unlike any before.
Suddenly, behind the dragon, hundreds of gigantic hands began to take shape.
Hands the size of continents, countless in number, stretched across the sky, blanketing Marineford entirely!
Then, as if the gates of hell had opened, thousands of colossal swords emerged behind it, each larger than warships, hovering in the air, gleaming with a deadly sharpness.
The world fell into absolute silence.
Every person, every living being, from Sabaody to Impel Down, and even Mary Geoise, stared at the sky in utter shock.
In Sabaody Archipelago, people froze in place.
"What is that?! Is… is this the end of the world?!"
In Impel Down, prisoners and guards alike pressed against the tiny windows, their eyes locked on the distant horizon. Even Magellan, the venomous warden, felt a cold sweat trickle down his spine.
"This… is not human."
And in Mary Geoise, where the Celestial Dragons sat upon their thrones, they gazed at the scene in the sky… and for the first time in their lives, they felt true fear.
"Has the Navy created a monster that can destroy the world?!"
While the world trembled in terror, there was one man who smiled.
Whitebeard.
He lifted his head, looking at the dragon with amusement, then let out a booming laugh.
"Gurururururu… Now this is interesting!"
Then, he clenched his fist and punched the air!
A cataclysmic seismic wave erupted toward the Smoky Dragon!
But before the attack could land, the dragon moved!
Its massive mouth opened wide…
And in a single moment, a hurricane of black and white smoke surged forth, colliding with the seismic wave!
The earthquake stopped mid-air.
Then…
It vanished completely.
Suddenly, the gigantic swords began to move.
They descended from the heavens, like a storm of death, each one the size of a mountain!
And at the center of this onslaught, Smoker spoke in a voice that was calm but carried the weight of doom:
"Your era is over."
And in a single instant…
The sky exploded with falling blades!
In Marineford, everyone froze in place.
"No… We can't survive this!"
Even the Admirals felt the overwhelming pressure of the moment.
Out at sea, some of Whitebeard's pirates hesitated, their confidence wavering.
But Whitebeard?
He didn't flinch.
He lifted his gaze, staring directly at the dragon.
Then, in an instant, he leaped forward, charging straight at the beast!
The Smoky Dragon stood in the sky, watching Whitebeard.
And Whitebeard, with his signature deadly grin, raised his fist…
"Let's see if you can kill a man like Whitebeard!"
Then…
He struck the heavens with the greatest ear
thquake the world had ever seen.
And in that moment, the battlefield erupted with an energy never witnessed before in history.
