PORTAL BEAST SLAYER

Chapter 71: Huff And Puff

Alrik laughed, until he saw the look on Griffin's face, and realised that the man he called Grandfather for a long time was not joking.

"Wait, you're actually serious?" He asked, and Griffin sighed before taking a seat.

"Why would I joke with something like this?" Griffin asked, and then murmured to himself, though the others could still hear his mumbled words. "Little punk. All grown now and talking to your old man like that. Didn't even offer me a place to sit."

"Why should I make you feel welcome in my house? Give me one good reason why? And don't say it's because we're family. You disowned me and I did the same. And don't tell me it's because we're blood related, or blood if thicker than water, either. My family is here in my home. You're just trespassers that are allowed in temporarily." Alrik said and Griffin sighed again.

"You have no reason to welcome me. I agree with that completely. And unlike the others, I'm not shameless enough to even expect that. I know my place. I won't make excuses for my actions, nor will I apologise. Believe it or not, all I've done is for your good, and now you've proven yourself to be…"

Eliza's sudden laughter interrupted his words, and they all turned to face her. Griffin looked confused because none of his words were funny.

"You want to sit there, and tell me that you kicking out your grandson, not backing him when he was framed, and not loving him properly was all a test to check his worth? Don't be so pathetic. There are better ways to make someone prove themselves like you say, and none of that involves the despicable things you did." She said as she stood, and walked closer to him.

She stopped right in front of him and glared down at his seated form.

"The only reason I haven't broken this glass over your head is because of how old you are. You might truly die if I let loose, so be grateful for your age. Though you've already proven that wisdom doesn't always come with age. You can't even offer a proper apology before you start spouting nonsense. If you remember nothing else after leaving here, remember this, Alrik doesn't need you anymore. Not your family, not your money. We're doing alright on our own."

She scoffed at him, and then turned to glare at the rest of the Zerdon family over his shoulder.

"Zee must be so ashamed to have descendants like you. Bearing her name and sullying it with your disgusting personalities."

"I truly am ashamed." Zee said, even though only Alrik could hear it.

Alrik smirked, and when Eliza passed by him to return to her seat, he pulled her closer to sit on his lap and then kissed her.

"My little warrior Queen."

"You really want to hand over the family assets to him of all people? I'm supposed to inherit everything!" Kalen snapped, and Griffin sighed again.

"I don't know what gave you those delusions that you're the heir. Your father, maybe. I never made any promises. I told you that you have a chance to prove yourself to me, and I would discuss it and get back to you. What else have you done except disgrace me at every turn? Huh. While your father covers up for you."

"What are you talking about? Whatever Alrik is accusing me of, he made it up. He's just trying to steal what belongs to me. He…"

"I haven't even said a word of accusation, so don't involve me in your quarrel. And in case you've forgotten, look around. I don't need to take a damn thing from you. I have more money than all of you together. Why would I need a dime from you?" Alrik cut in.

"You must have done something. Do you think I'm stupid? You're alone and pitiful. I'm the one people like, and obey. You're just a leech. You've always been jealous of me, Alrik, that's why you always try to get in my way. I'm better than you in every way and you know it. I got the better looks. I even got your girl. She came to me because, even she thinks I'm better."

"His woman is over here. I don't know who you think you took. I'm not moving an inch towards you." Eliza said with a smirk even though she understood what Kalen had been implying.

"You're just a replacement for the woman he truly wants, but she's mine." Kalen said and moved towards Vaida to pull her close.

Vaida looked uncomfortable, and she subtly tried to distance herself from Kalen while smiling at Alrik.

Alrik whispered something to Eliza that only two of them could hear, and they both chuckled. Vaida's smile faltered. She felt like they were mocking her, but there was nothing she could do. She just glared at Eliza who was still seated on Alrik's legs, and pushed Kalen away.

"Alrik, honey. It's been a while. There's so much noise here. Let's go somewhere more private where there are no distractions." As she said distractions, she looked straight at Eliza.

Alrik whispered to Eliza again, and this time, they both laughed out loud.

"Honey," Eliza began speaking in a mocking tone. "Your boobs are about to fall out of that dress. If we wanted a private porn show, we would invite strippers over. And you've got lipstick on your teeth.

Vaida smirked and crossed her arms so her boobs would be pushed up further, hoping to entice Alrik.

"You're just jealous because you know he prefers me. You're trying to act territorial, and prevent us from reconnecting. And I won't fall for that lipstick trick."

Alrik sighed. "Whatever delusions you're entertaining, I suggest you forget about it, Vaida. I'm a happily married man. We might have had something in the past, but after meeting Eliza, I realised I never truly loved you. I just latched on to you because I didn't want to be alone. And because it was expected of me. I guess I should thank you for betraying me. It led me to the love of my life. Though your life doesn't seem to be going as well as you planned, since you're here trying to weasel your way back into my life."

"I know you're angry, Alrik and you have every right to be, but just listen. We had something special, right? You even agreed to go to war camp and fight dangerous battles to win my love. You're just confused right now, and…"

"Griffin, please leave my house with the rest of them. Thanks for your offer, but I'm declining it. I want nothing from you. And I don't want to be involved with you either, not even through business. There's a reason your company was not included in the partnership list Crestview Group released. You cut ties, and I did the same. Let's respect that." Alrik said to Griffin who scoffed.

Vaida looked pissed after being ignored, and interrupted by Alrik. But she couldn't speak since Griffin was talking now.

"Say what you want, but I'm naming you the heir regardless. The papers and everything will be sent to you soon. Do what you will with them. Donate it all, dissolve the Zerdon company. I don't care anymore. My work is done. Just don't forget that before his death, your father worked to build that company. It was his dream to take over everything someday before his life was cut short." Griffin stood.

"And I was supposed to inherit everything after his death. Why do you always look down on me? From the very beginning, you never loved me as much as you loved your precious first son. He was your pride and joy, and he still is even in death. If not me, at least my son should inherit the family assets. Yet you give it to Alrik, the same Alrik you disowned. Why? Because he's the son of your favourite first born?" Jett snapped and grabbed Griffin by the collar.

"Hey! Take your fight elsewhere." Bruno slammed his hand on the table and stood. "Whatever dispute you all have is between you alone. No one here wants to watch your drama. You've overstayed your welcome. Leave."

Jett turned to face Bruno. "And who the fuck are you to give me orders? Have you forgotten that I outrank you in…"

"First of all, this isn't a military camp. It's our home. Secondly, we were discharged thanks to you and your scheming son. Rank no longer exists between us." Ren stood beside Bruno.

"Leave before I call security to have you dragged out." Gaya said calmly from her seat.

Jett huffed and stormed off.

"You'll hear from my lawyer soon." Griffin said to Alrik and exited next.

Vaida tried to talk to Alrik, but Eliza grabbed a cup from the table. "I might be hesitant to hit an old man, but I would definitely love to break your head. Don't test me."

Vaida sneered and left with Kalen going after her. Vance turned to leave, but Kellan grabbed him and pinned him to the wall.

"Did you really think you would escape that easily?"
