Chapter 117: Miss Sabrina, You Wouldn't Want…
Sabrina believed that even the least intelligent of the Three Beasts, Chuck, wouldn't fall for such an obvious attempt to sow discord.
Seeing her expression, Asahi smiled slightly. "You might be thinking, 'Even a Slowpoke could see through such a crude trick.'"
"You're right. Anyone can tell that this is a setup."
"But I still think Team Rocket will believe me. Do you know why?"
Sabrina frowned. "…Why?"
She felt an ominous premonition rising.
Asahi's smile widened. "Because you've been an undercover agent for the International Police inside Team Rocket for years, providing us with critical intelligence."
"You're the one who told me that Team Rocket is secretly working on creating a legendary Pokémon called Mewtwo."
"You're also the one who revealed that Koga, the Fuchsia Gym Leader, is actually one of the Three Executives of Team Rocket."
"Oh, and let's not forget—you even told me the true identity of Team Rocket's boss, who is none other than the Gym Leader of Viridian City—"
Before Asahi could finish, Sabrina abruptly cut him off. "Stop talking."
She couldn't let him continue.
"That's it? You're already backing down?" Asahi teased, still itching to drop the real bombshell.
Sabrina ignored his mockery, her gaze sharp and focused. "Where did you get this intel?!"
Her mind was in chaos.
These were all top-secret Team Rocket affairs—secrets even lower-ranking executives wouldn't have full access to. How did Asahi, an International Police officer, know all of this?
Could Lt. Surge have betrayed the organization?
No… Impossible. If Lt. Surge had truly turned traitor, the League would have already acted, and Team Rocket would've been aware of it.
Then…
As she thought it through, only one explanation made sense—she was the one who had betrayed Team Rocket.
Otherwise, how could so many secrets leak immediately after her capture?
The traitor… is me?
Sabrina's mind reeled as she pieced it all together.
Now she understood why Asahi didn't just teleport her away. Instead, he deliberately let her be seen by the Saffron Gym students before taking a taxi to the outskirts and only then using Pokémon to travel to this hideout.
He wanted to make sure it looked like I had been in contact with the League.
"Despicable!"
Sabrina hated to use the word, but at this moment, she couldn't think of a better way to describe Asahi's actions.
"Oh, come now. That's rich coming from a Rocket Executive. I heard that in Team Rocket, 'despicable' is practically a compliment." Asahi said humbly. "But I suppose this is enough to convince Team Rocket that you're a traitor."
"No, wait… not a traitor—an undercover agent. This should be enough to convince the League Council that you've been secretly gathering intelligence for them all along."
"With contributions like these, you might even be rewarded with an Elite Four position. What do you say, 'Elite Sabrina'?"
Sabrina clenched her fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
This wasn't an honor—it was a death sentence!
She knew exactly what would happen if Team Rocket believed she had sold them out.
If this information reached the League, it would inevitably find its way onto Giovanni's desk. The moment that happened, she would become the number one target for Team Rocket's assassins.
There would be no safe place for her in either Kanto or Johto.
She wanted to deny everything.
But would Asahi listen to her protests?
Of course not.
Sabrina's hands trembled as she looked at him. "What exactly do you want?"
At first, she had assumed Asahi was trying to extract information from her.
But that idea no longer made sense.
He already knew Team Rocket's greatest secrets—what more could he possibly need from her?
Yet, he had still chosen to imprison her here.
He must have a purpose.
"What do I want?" Asahi grinned. "I've already told you."
"Told me?"
Sabrina frowned, but as she thought back, her expression suddenly changed. "You… you want me to be a double agent?"
"Bingo!"
Asahi clapped his hands. "As expected of the Saffron Gym Leader—one of the most brilliant psychics in Kanto. You caught on fast."
"I want you to return to Team Rocket as an undercover agent for the International Police."
"When I first arrived at the Kanto division, I was the last surviving agent. I swore then and there to bring Team Rocket to justice and avenge my fallen comrades."
"Placing an informant inside Team Rocket is just the beginning."
His words were spoken with righteousness, but Green, who had been silently listening, rolled her eyes.
Oh, please.
If she hadn't just heard him say yesterday that he just started looking into what happened to his predecessors, she might have actually believed him.
But Sabrina… she believed it.
In her eyes, Asahi was a vengeful officer willing to use any means necessary to destroy Team Rocket.
"Forget it. I will never betray Team Rocket. You should give up now."
"Oh, Sabrina, some choices aren't up to you."
Asahi slid the interrogation transcript across the table toward her.
"Either you betray Team Rocket, or Team Rocket betrays you. You have to choose."
"My personal advice? Strike first."
He leaned in, a smirk playing on his lips. "Miss Sabrina, you wouldn't want Team Rocket hunting you down for leaking intelligence, would you?"
Asahi felt incredibly satisfied, finally throwing her own words back at her.
This line was his to use.
And now, the tables had completely turned.
