Pokémon: Trainer Paul

"The punishment for failing to block the stones is this—keep training. Use your tail to knock them down."

Paul threw another stone, just as he had done the first time. The speed and force were still within Vulpix's capability. With focus, knocking them down with its tail wasn't impossible.

The pain from the earlier stone strikes left Vulpix no choice but to obey. It quickly adjusted its tail to intercept the incoming stones.

After a few throws, Paul increased the difficulty. He started throwing two stones, then three, gradually increasing the challenge.

Thud!

"Ah~!"

Thud!

"Ow~!"

Thud!

"Missed!"

Despite its best efforts, Vulpix couldn't avoid getting hit at times. Its body bore several bruises from the training.

As the session progressed, Paul escalated the difficulty further, tossing six stones simultaneously around Vulpix, forcing it to use all six of its tails to deflect them.

This time, Vulpix truly understood Paul's relentless intensity and strength.

"Good. Take a break, but maintain Sunny Day and Gravity."

When the pile of stones Vulpix had gathered was finally depleted, Paul called a halt.

"Vul~"

Exhausted and covered in bruises, Vulpix collapsed onto the ground. The training had been grueling, demanding not only physical stamina but also mental focus. Every mistake was met with punishment, and maintaining both Sunny Day and Gravity throughout the session added to the strain.

"Eat this and rest up quickly."

Paul took out a few Berries and fed them to Vulpix. He then began treating its injuries with a potion.

"Vul~"

Feeling the rejuvenating power of the Berries and seeing Paul's serious demeanor as he applied the medicine, Vulpix felt a small spark of gratitude.

Perhaps, it thought, my trainer isn't entirely indifferent. He's just... strict. Maybe, it's not so bad.

But just as Vulpix began to relax, Paul's chilling voice interrupted its thoughts.

"Once you've rested, gather more stones. Training will resume, and you'll need to collect extra this time."

What?! Again?!

So cruel! 

Vulpix's internal monologue became a whirlwind of emotions.

Once Paul finished treating Vulpix's injuries, he moved over to check on Turtwig and Elekid's progress.

In the water, their training was progressing efficiently, thanks to Paul's tailored methods.

Elekid's Ice Punch created a layer of ice that lasted 0.3 seconds before being washed away by the water—a significant improvement in its control and strength.

Turtwig, though less visibly changed, had roots coiled around rocks, continuously drawing energy from the ground. The nutrients it absorbed were several times greater than before. A faint green glow radiated from its roots.

"This isn't normal." Paul muttered, narrowing his eyes.

Ingrain allowed Turtwig to absorb nutrients from the earth, but the speed and intensity it displayed were extraordinary. The glowing roots were particularly unusual.

Without disturbing Turtwig, Paul pulled out his Pokédex and scanned it.

"Absorb: A Grass-type move that drains energy from the opponent."

"It learned Absorb through Ingrain? Interesting."

A smirk spread across Paul's face.

While Absorb wasn't particularly useful in battles, integrating it into Turtwig's growth training could significantly accelerate its development.

Moreover, Absorb was just the beginning. It could evolve into Mega Drain and eventually Giga Drain, both of which had considerable potential in battles.

If Turtwig continued developing this method, it could reach a point where simply basking in sunlight and using Ingrain would rival the benefits of rigorous physical training. It would only need to focus on perfecting its moves and improving its endurance in battles.

"All right, stop for a moment."

"Twig~!"

"Bzzzt!"

The two Pokémon halted their training and turned to Paul.

"Your training is progressing well." Paul said with rare praise, then addressing Turtwig, he added, "Show me your new move on Elekid."

Elekid: ???

"Bzzzt?!"

Elekid protested loudly, but before it could react further, Turtwig unleashed a glowing whip of energy from the leaf on its head, binding Elekid and rapidly draining its stamina.

"Bzzzt~!"

Take it easy! This is just training, just for your sake.

Already fatigued from its earlier efforts, Elekid grew even more exhausted.

"Stop."

"Twig~"

Turtwig dispersed the light whip somewhat embarrassedly, and a force gathered from its mouth like an energy ball spurted out and landed on Elekid.

Then, fluorescent dots floated out from Elekid and returned to Turtwig, restoring its strength.

"Bzzzt~!"

That's enough, you want to kill me?

After being sucked once more, a hint of anger appeared on Elekid's face.

"Bzzt!~"

Turtwig smiled innocently. He was too absorbed in the training just now and couldn't control his emotions. He always wanted to give Elekid some fierce blows.

"Can you use Absorb in other ways?" Paul asked again.

"Twig~"

Turtwig thought for a moment, noticing Paul's gaze shifting toward the nearby stones. Realizing what he meant, it extended its glowing roots, coiling them around Elekid.

"Bzzt~"

Well, go on. Absorb me if you dare! Why aren't you doing it?!

Turtwig hesitated, sensing Elekid's growing irritation. Instead of draining its partner completely, it decided to let Elekid go, patting it gently with a root before retracting.

"Good. Your roots aren't just part of your body; they're tools and weapons. You can use them to drain energy, attack opponents, or control the battlefield."

"When you're strong enough, your roots will be able to cover the entire field, striking down your enemies at will."

Paul shared his insights with Turtwig, outlining the potential of its newfound abilities.
