Pokémon: Trail of Ultimate Champion

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: A Bountiful Harvest

"Dang, why is there a password?"

With wide eyes, Toshi felt like he had suddenly fallen from heaven to hell, and his good mood vanished in an instant.

Actually, two minutes later, Toshi realized that it would be abnormal for such important documents to be unencrypted. The other party was likely just being cautious; after all, if they had invested so much and didn't get what they wanted, why would they throw away their bargaining chips?

Toshi sighed. "Since there's a password, I can't access the contents for now. I guess I'll have to find a way to crack it later."

Although it was a bit disappointing, the item was already in his hands. What if it could be unlocked later? So there was no need to rush.

After inspecting the most valuable Pokémon egg, the remaining spoils were just Yamamoto's Pokémon and his backpack.

Since backpacks couldn't be stacked, when Toshi had obtained Yamamoto's backpack, he had simply dumped everything from it into his own backpack without carefully inspecting what was inside.

After Toshi took everything out of his backpack, he did a bit of sorting. In the end, he gathered all the items he had obtained from Yamamoto together.

There were neither too many nor too few items.

Most of it consisted of wilderness daily necessities, some spare clothing, and a few Inkoutou documents. Toshi looked them over and found that they were nothing of importance; anything crucial would have been kept hidden. As for what to do with these items bearing the Inkoutou symbol, that was an obvious matter.

The truly useful items were just some tools, like a knife and a shovel, which could be kept.

Additionally, there were 36 empty red-and-white Poké Balls, a League Bank card, and an unregistered black card.

As a proud member of an evil organization, Yamamoto kept some empty Poké Balls on hand to catch wild Pokémon for sale. Was there a problem with that? Not at all.

However, this worked to Toshi's advantage, as one red-and-white Poké Ball was worth 200 yen, meaning the 36 balls saved him 7,200 yen, which was great.

The League Bank card was linked to personal identity information, so it was completely useless, as it was nearly impossible to crack.

The underground black card had some potential value, but this card wasn't one of those password-free transaction cards; if Toshi couldn't crack the password, it was essentially useless to him.

"Overall, it's not too bad. At the very least, it helped me save over 10,000 yen, which is quite good."

Toshi nodded, feeling satisfied.

He rubbed his hands together and excitedly said, "Now the real fun begins!"

As mentioned before, after Yamamoto's death, Toshi was already able to see the data of the Pokémon in his Poké Balls, but with so much happening, he hadn't had a chance to check it until now.

Taking out the five Poké Balls, including Sableye, Toshi carefully reviewed the Pokémon data inside.

Among them were an Elite level Manectric, a High level Crawdaunt, an Intermediate Pelipper, an Intermediate Donphan, and finally, a Basic Sableye.

In terms of quality, Sableye actually had the highest quality among them, reaching a Good quality, while Manectric and Crawdaunt had average quality, and Pelipper and Donphan had poor quality.

So among these five Pokémon, the only ones truly worth his attention were Manectric and Sableye.

Toshi opened the detailed information for the two Pokémon:

[Pokémon: Manectric (Severely Injured)]

[Type: Electric]

[Gender: Male]

[Ability: Static]

[Quality: 79% Average]

[Base Stats: 458 (Max Value: 475)]

[Strength: Level 51 (Elite)]

[Moves: Tackle, Leer, Thunder Wave, Howl, Quick Attack, Thunder Fang, Thunderbolt, Discharge, Bite]

[Pokémon: Sableye (Lightly Injured)]

[Type: Dark/Ghost]

[Gender: ♂]

[Ability: Prankster]

[Quality: Dark (75% Good quality); Ghost (92% Good quality)]

[Base Stats: 372 (Max Value: 380)]

[Strength: Level 23 (Basic)]

[Moves: Scratch, Leer, Astonish, Confuse Ray, Shadow Sneak, Fake Out, Disable, Knock Off, Shadow Claw]

Seeing the data for these two Pokémon, Toshi couldn't help but exclaim, "I didn't expect that this data would actually change!"

When Toshi first saw Butterfree's data, many descriptions were unclear, such as the quality section, which only displayed an overall quality without showing the individual qualities for each attribute, let alone the percentages. The base stats weren't specifically marked for maximum values, and the strength was only described as "Basic."

Toshi began to ponder: Could it be that since I have a full six Pokémon, the displayed data is more complete?

Thinking about this, he opened the moves section again and casually clicked on Sableye's claw move. Toshi saw that it displayed: "Claw: Proficiency 45%."

"Is it really like that?"

Toshi's face lit up with excitement, as this allowed him to directly see each Pokémon's mastery of a particular move, which was a significant improvement over the previous vague descriptions he only saw, like "proficient" or "beginner."

With this, he could also more accurately and quickly evaluate the effects of Pokémon training in the future.

This was significant for him!

Thinking about this, he opened the moves section again and randomly clicked on Sableye's claw move. Toshi saw that it displayed: "Claw: Proficiency 45%."

"Is it really like that?"

Toshi appeared excited because this allowed him to see each Pokémon's mastery of a particular move, which was a significant improvement over the vague descriptions he had seen before, like "Proficient" or "Beginner."

With this, he could also more accurately and quickly see the training results of his Pokémon in the future.

This was significant for him!

With that thought, he couldn't help but check Butterfree's data again. To his disappointment, Butterfree's data was indeed lacking compared to Sableye's, and its move proficiency was not high.

Toshi sighed softly. "It looks like I still have a long way to go."

Closing the data panel, Toshi held the Poké Ball containing Sableye in his hand. Compared to the other Pokémon, Sableye not only had a much higher quality but also had considerable potential for development. With proper cultivation, it could become a strong asset in battle in the future.

"The only question is whether this Pokémon has any attachment to that thin guy..."

Toshi frowned a bit. While people from those underworld forces generally captured ready-to-use Pokémon, like that Manectric, there were also some who might cultivate weaker but promising Pokémon. This way, they wouldn't have to worry about betrayal from Pokémon they had raised since childhood or be concerned about not being able to advance to higher-level Trainers later on.

Toshi couldn't determine which category this Sableye belonged to, but just based on its potential, he was reluctant to sell it outright.

After all, how precious a Good quality Pokémon is can be imagined from how his father had searched for over a month without finding a single one in the Gray Feather Mountain Range.

Speaking of selling, aside from Sableye, Toshi had already prepared to sell the other four Pokémon directly on the black market to raise money for cultivating his Butterfree and the two soon-to-hatch Pokémon.
