POKEMON : THE WAY OF PERCEPTION

Chapter 76: Chapter 77: Untying the Heart’s Knot

After the Gym Challenge, Ash, Misty, and Brock left the Cerulean Gym and were later invited to the sisters' home for the evening. The three sisters treated them to dinner, but it was clear that Brock wasn't the highlight of their attention.

"Why... why... why..." Brock mumbled in despair as they walked down the lively streets. The bustling city around him couldn't lift his spirits. To him, the world had lost its color.

"I never realized Brock was like this," Misty said with a sigh, glancing back at him.

At Mt. Moon and even at the Pokémon Center, Brock had refrained from his usual behavior, leaving Misty under the impression that he was a composed individual. Now that his true nature was revealed, her image of him had crumbled.

Ash chuckled awkwardly. "Well, Brock is great at a lot of things, but when he's around pretty women, it's like he turns into a completely different person."

While Ash and Misty chatted, the air between them felt slightly awkward—mainly because of what Ash had said earlier during the Gym Challenge. Misty occasionally stole glances at Ash, quickly turning away when he noticed. Ash, on the other hand, tried to say something, but every time he looked at Misty, their eyes met, causing her to look away in embarrassment.

Pikachu, who was walking between them, sighed silently. In its opinion, this tension was unnecessary. Pikachu cared deeply for both Ash and Misty and thought it would be wonderful if they got along like other humans who cared for each other.

Ash, however, wasn't thinking about romance. At just ten years old, he considered himself too young for such things. He was focused on his journey, determined to explore new places and discover more Pokémon. For him, relationships could wait until later.

At noon, the group stopped at a well-known restaurant in the city for lunch. By the afternoon, they were enjoying the shopping district.

Gradually, Brock recovered from his earlier disappointment, and the tension between Ash and Misty began to ease. Misty, however, felt their bond had grown stronger. Though they weren't romantically involved yet, Misty believed that one day, she would be more than just a traveling companion to Ash—perhaps even his wife.

As they headed back to the Cerulean Gym, Misty's cheeks turned red at the thought. She even imagined a future where they had children—one inheriting the Cerulean Gym and the other following in Ash's footsteps to become a great Pokémon Trainer.

A Warm Homecoming

That evening, the Cerulean Gym closed at five o'clock. Behind the Gym stood Misty's house, a cozy two-story building surrounded by flowers and climbing vines. The house radiated warmth and charm, a reflection of the family that lived there.

"I'm home," Misty called out as she opened the door. She slipped off her shoes and retrieved slippers for Ash and Brock.

"Excuse us," Ash and Brock said politely, slipping on the slippers.

"Oh, you're finally here!" Lily greeted them, skipping past Misty to focus on Ash. She barely acknowledged Brock, who sighed in defeat, deciding not to pursue one of the sisters this time.

"Hi, thank you for having us," Ash said, handing over a bag of items they'd bought earlier.

"There's no need to be so formal. It's not like you're meeting the parents!" Lily teased, winking at Misty.

"Why would we be meeting the parents?!" Misty huffed, her face turning red. She hurried into the living room, ignoring Lily's laughter.

"Welcome back," Violet and Sakura called from the open kitchen without turning around. They recognized Misty's footsteps immediately.

The kitchen, located just behind the living room, was filled with delicious aromas. A variety of dishes were already laid out on the dining table—Misty's favorite foods.

Misty paused, taken aback. She glanced at her sisters, who were busy cooking. For a moment, she realized how much they had done for her over the years.

When she was younger, she hadn't noticed the small details—the sacrifices her sisters made to maintain the Gym while giving her a carefree life. Now, after spending time away from home, she began to understand the depth of their care and love.

"Thank you... sisters," Misty said softly, her voice trembling with emotion as tears welled up in her eyes.

Sakura and Violet froze, as did Lily, who had just returned to the living room. After a brief pause, they smiled warmly.

"Thank you? We didn't make these for you—it's for Ash!" Sakura teased, turning to tap Misty gently on the forehead.

Instead of her usual indignant reaction, Misty smiled, feeling a comforting warmth in her heart.

Dinner and Teasing

"Here, Ash, have some juice first. Dinner will be ready soon," Lily said, leading Ash to the living room. She made a show of sitting close to him, clearly enjoying the chance to tease Misty.

"That's right! We've prepared all these dishes just for you," Violet added from the kitchen, her tone playful.

Misty's face darkened. She rushed into the living room, wedging herself between Ash and Lily with a glare.

Ash sighed, feeling like he had somehow become the center of a silent battle between Misty and her sisters. Meanwhile, Brock stood near the door, watching enviously. He, too, wanted to be fussed over by Misty's sisters.

That evening, laughter filled the small house as everyone shared stories, jokes, and dreams. Misty, who had once felt overshadowed by her sisters, now felt a renewed sense of love and belonging.

As the night deepened, Ash realized that while the journey ahead was long, moments like these were just as important as the battles he fought and the Pokémon he caught.
