Pokemon: The Legacy of Dragons

Chapter 131: The Fall of Lavender Tower

Logan quickly abandoned the idea of surveillance. This level of the tower was completely empty — not a place where cameras could be hidden.

"…That is—"

Then, both Logan and Sabrina finally spotted something hanging from the twenty-meter-high ceiling — an enormous Golbat, hanging upside down like a monstrous shadow.

"That Golbat belongs to Koga!" Sabrina immediately shared the intel.

Though a single Golbat didn't explain how Agatha was pulling off such complex remote manipulations of the battlefield, its ominous presence, just hanging there without attacking or moving, made its importance obvious.

"No matter what it's doing—taking it out is our best bet!" Logan declared instantly. "Gabite, use Sandstorm!"

Out of nowhere, the sound of roaring wind and swirling grit echoed through the wide open space, and in the blink of an eye, the suffocating mist that had filled the tower was replaced by a raging sandstorm.

"If I'm right, the Golbat is there to emit Supersonic waves. But in my sandstorm, countless tiny particles will scatter the sound. It won't be able to transmit properly. That said—if Gastly could spread its fog through the entire tower, then in a pure environmental clash, Gabite is at a disadvantage. We need to take that Golbat down before Gastly reasserts its control!"

"But the sandstorm also blinds me," Sabrina replied quickly. "Tracking a fast, erratic Golbat in this mess is almost impossible!"

"Exactly why… you need to follow my lead," Logan replied, his voice calm despite the storm. "I'm the only one who can locate Golbat's exact position inside this storm."

As they spoke, Koga and Blue unexpectedly charged at them, Pokémon at their sides.

"As I thought… that Golbat is crucial. Agatha wouldn't risk sending Koga and Blue in otherwise. Sabrina, I'll trust you with our defense!"

"Hmph. I don't need you to tell me that."

Sabrina gave a sharp snort, lowering her head as her fingers twitched. Her Mr. Mime's hands moved like a pianist's over invisible keys — in front of the two of them, a wall of shimmering barriers began to form, stacking rapidly. Logan saw glimmers in the air twist like a mirage as Light Screen and Reflect materialized. Then, without hesitation, Mr. Mime layered on more defense — Barrier, followed by Encore to amplify and double the defensive properties of the walls.

The sheer volume of moves being executed, and the force with which they were stacked, turned the area around them into a psychic fortress. Even a Legendary Pokémon would struggle to break through so many layered shields.

At that moment, Logan realized something important: Sabrina's Mr. Mime may not have the offensive power of her Alakazam, but in defense… it was a master-class tank. The blinding speed and precision of its ability usage was something no average psychic-type could match.

Suddenly, a barrage of attacks came in — Muk's Sludge Bomb, Arbok's Acid, and Charmeleon's Flamethrower. They all struck simultaneously.

Sabrina didn't even blink.

A dazzling burst of color exploded across the barriers. The Reflect wall bounced the flames back, causing Charmeleon and Blue to stumble back in panic.

"Dragonair, Hyper Beam!"

Inside the storm, Logan's mind was linked with Gabite through the power of the Dragon's Will. Every shifting grain of sand was clear to him. As he commanded, Dragonair's horn began to gather light — an impossibly dense energy that glowed like the core of a sun.

Sabrina sensed it immediately. Logan was betting everything on a single decisive strike.

Still, she hesitated. Hitting a nimble, fully mobile Golbat with a Hyper Beam was far from guaranteed. But she trusted Logan's judgment. She had her Alakazam prep Future Sight just in case.

Then, something unexpected happened. The Hyper Beam wasn't fired at the Golbat — it was fired backward, out the hole blasted open earlier by Charmeleon's flames.

Sabrina blinked. "What…?"

The beam tore through the opening, out into the night — into the stormy sky over Lavender Tower. The blazing light arced across the heavens like a lighthouse cutting through pitch black.

Had Logan… misfired?

Even if it was a misfire, who would aim backwards?

Even a child wouldn't make that kind of mistake.

Her mind flooded with questions. Was Logan planning to have the beam circle the planet and hit Golbat from behind?

But even while her thoughts spiraled, her body still listened. Logan gave the next command:

"Sabrina, have Alakazam use Psychic — ten degrees up, directly above your head!"

Alakazam's eyes flashed with violet light. Unlike normal Pokémon, its Psychic wasn't focused on one target — it radiated across an entire section of the tower, bending space itself.

Golbat, erratic and airborne, was caught in the sudden grip of this massive, targeted psychic field — suspended and helpless.

At the same moment — the fog condensed again.

Gastly appeared, smirking malevolently in front of Golbat, intent on shielding it from further attacks.

"Of course Agatha wouldn't let us land a clean hit," Logan murmured. "She's sending Gastly to cover Golbat while it recovers. Once that fog returns… we lose our chance."

But just then—

BOOM!!!

A thunderous explosion rang from behind Gastly and Golbat. The outer wall of Lavender Tower shattered, chunks of debris raining down. The blast left ears ringing.

The Hyper Beam had returned.

The same beam Logan had seemingly fired into empty sky… circled back, slamming directly into the immobilized Golbat from behind.

No one could've predicted this move.

Dragonair had likely fired the beam along a long-arc trajectory, knowing precisely how it would return given the tower's shape and the storm's wind.

The Hyper Beam struck Golbat with cataclysmic force. An eruption of sound and fury burst through the tower — shockwaves tossing Koga and Blue through the air, their Pokémon flying and crashing in kind.

But Logan and Sabrina? Untouched. The barriers held.

Sabrina, now wide-eyed, understood Logan's masterstroke.

"Alakazam — trigger Future Sight!"

CRACK——

The air shimmered like glass, cracking silently. Unlike the chaos of Hyper Beam, Future Sight arrived like the whisper of death.

The structural pillars on the fourth floor splintered. Cracks spread like spiderwebs. A moment later, the upper floors of Lavender Tower began to tilt, groaning under their own collapsing weight.

But Logan wasn't finished.

Gabite let out a furious roar, channeling rage into its chest — and fired Dragon Rage straight upward.

BOOM!

The ceiling above shattered into flaming debris.

The tower was falling — and Agatha's plans were going with it.
