Chapter 70: Shouldn't You Be the Ones Surrendering?
Charmeleon soared in the air, the tip of its tail ablaze with an eerie white flame. With a single breath, the fire spread like a rain of meteors, descending precisely onto every wooden platform.
The ghostly white flames burned with a cold intensity, reducing the platforms to ash in mere moments.
Leafeon stood dumbfounded, glancing around at the sudden disappearance of its foothold.
More troubling was the creature flying above.
Wasn't it a Charmeleon?
Why was it flying?
And then came the next attack—a towering pillar of fire surged forth, blending freezing cold with scorching heat. Its orange-yellow core shimmered with streaks of white.
"What kind of fire is that?"
Even more baffling, why was Hikaru, who had maintained a restrained and tactical fighting style throughout the tournament, suddenly so aggressive and overbearing?
In previous matches, even when the opponent was weaker, he would balance the battle to provide his Pokémon fair practice. But now, it seemed like Hikaru was giving it his all, sparing no effort.
Leafeon, despite being strong at level 33, was instantly thrown into a dire situation.
"Leap into the water!"
Despite her shock, Lili reacted quickly. If fire couldn't be extinguished by water, then what was the point? She thought the lake would be a natural shield.
But in the next moment, the scene shattered her perception of reality.
The pale flames emitted by Charmeleon hit the water, generating a massive plume of steam. Yet, a few streaks of the eerie white fire snaked across the surface, like ghostly serpents, clinging stubbornly to Leafeon.
Even submerged, the flames showed no sign of extinguishing.
"Leafeon!"
Under the onslaught of a super-effective fire attack, Leafeon's health dwindled rapidly like air escaping a balloon.
Charmeleon didn't let up. Its claws glowed as it dove into the water, finding Leafeon with precision before striking it down decisively.
"This match goes to Hikaru!"
The entire stadium fell into stunned silence.
Hikaru, however, seemed preoccupied. Earlier, he had caught a glimpse of Latias' vision—countless Pokémon surrounding her and her brother in a vicious assault.
"Hayashi!"
Whether the vision was real or not, Hikaru couldn't ignore it. But going alone wouldn't be enough. In that brief moment, he had seen Pokémon ranging from Gym-tier to Elite-tier, even a few at Master-tier.
Facing such a force was beyond Hikaru's current capability.
Unless…
His gaze shot to the sky, where Takashi Hayashi sat astride his Dragonite. As a top-tier Trainer, Takashi would be a perfect ally.
"Follow me!"
Without wasting time, Hikaru called Charmeleon to his side, flying up toward Dragonite and its rider. Grabbing onto Takashi, Hikaru urged him to follow.
Takashi was caught off guard.
While Dragonite was significantly stronger than Charmeleon, the latter was clearly trying its best to lead the way. Seeing Hikaru's urgency, Takashi's brows furrowed but ultimately decided to go along.
The pair flew off, leaving behind a stadium full of bewildered spectators.
Lili stood frozen as she recalled her Leafeon, mumbling in disbelief.
"What just happened? He won the match and just left?"
"That Charmeleon… Is it really a Charmeleon? How can it use Fairy-type moves like Fairy Wings?"
"This guy's team is unbelievable. Frogadier uses Electric moves, Charmeleon has Fairy-type moves… Is there anything he can't do?"
"And what was that white flame? It didn't extinguish even underwater!"
The crowd erupted into chatter, filled with amazement and confusion.
Meanwhile, the once-calm waters of Water city erupted into chaos. Giant waves, stirred as if by an unseen force, slammed into the streets, drenching buildings and causing panic.
"What's going on?"
For a city that thrived on tranquil waters, this was unprecedented. The waves surged like a furious beast awakened after centuries of slumber.
As the waters roared and threatened to flood, emergency personnel quickly sprang into action, rallying Trainers to control the chaos.

Above water city
Takashi narrowed his eyes as he observed the turmoil below.
"Do you know what's happening?"
Hikaru, wind rushing past, gave a sharp reply: "I do. Latios is under attack!"
"Latios?"
Takashi frowned. Many questions surfaced in his mind. How was Hikaru connected to the legendary Pokémon?
Why would Latios, a being of such immense power, be in danger?
And what kind of force was capable of threatening a legend?
But now wasn't the time for questions. The boy's urgency spoke volumes.
"Point me to the location. Charmeleon is too slow to get us there in time."
Charmeleon grunted in protest but said nothing. It couldn't deny the truth—its speed was nothing compared to Dragonite's.
Still, it felt no shame. With Hikaru as its Trainer, it believed it would surpass this Dragonite one day.
"Understood, Hayashi. I'll use Aura to guide you!"
Hikaru concentrated, expanding his Aura to its fullest extent, creating a path for Dragonite to follow.
Dragonite's wings flapped once, and in an instant, the city below became a blur, its streets flashing by like frames in a reel.

The Subterranean Palace
"Brother!" Latias cried out, her voice trembling.
"So you think your body can shield us? Let's see how much punishment you can take!"
"Kingdra, another Hydro Pump!"
Kingdra roared in triumph, relishing the moment. Before it stood Latios, a Pokémon of legend, now battered and struggling to maintain its defense.
How glorious it was to see such a creature brought low.
A powerful Hydro Pump struck the barrier Latios maintained, causing it to shatter with a deafening crack. The attack then slammed into Latios directly.
Latias clutched the Soul Dew tightly, hiding behind her brother. She was desperate but powerless. The presence of the Soul Dew prevented her from teleporting them to safety.
"Brother!"
A deep gash appeared on Latios's sleek body, a testament to the relentless barrage it endured.
"Just surrender already!"
The humans laughed, giddy at the thought of capturing a legendary Pokémon and obtaining the Soul Dew. Their futures seemed limitless.
But then…
"Shouldn't the ones surrendering be you?"
A booming voice echoed through the chamber as an overwhelming aura filled the air.
