The supporters of both trainers continued to cheer passionately for their respective sides.

Coincidentally, the rowdy bikers and Gary's elegant cheerleaders were seated next to each other, forming two distinctly contrasting groups.

The bikers, however, seemed distracted. Facing a group of young women with striking appearances, many of them were caught sneaking glances, their earlier bravado completely fading.

On the battlefield, Kai was visibly surprised when Gary sent out a Fearow.

Fearow, despite being a medium-sized Bird Pokémon, couldn't compare to majestic Flying Pokémon like Moltres or Ho-Oh.

Its slender neck, scruffy feathers, and sharp, pink beak topped with a red crown were its most distinctive features. Fearow was also known for its tenacious temperament and ability to fly tirelessly while carrying heavy loads.

Kai hadn't initially given this battle much thought. He assumed that once the icy surface was cracked, the water beneath would emerge, granting a significant advantage to his Electric-type Pokémon.

However, he hadn't expected Gary to send out a Flying-type Pokémon that was at a type disadvantage against Electric-types.

'What is he thinking?' Kai wondered. 'He must be overconfident.'

As the referee signalled the start of the battle, Kai immediately called out, "Jolteon, use Thunder Shock!"

A burst of electricity surged from Jolteon's body and shot toward Fearow. But with a quick flap of its wings, Fearow soared into the air, skillfully dodging the attack.

Gary, despite knowing the type disadvantage, wasn't willing to swap Pokémon so early in the match.

Doing so would make him appear hesitant and might even draw ridicule from the spectators.

Meanwhile, Fearow continued to dodge the steady stream of electric attacks. Determined to regain focus, Gary called out, "Fearow, use Aerial Ace!"

Fearow began circling above the arena, its sharp eyes fixed on Jolteon as it searched for an opening.

"Jolteon, dodge to the ice blocks!"

Jolteon leapt toward the scattered ice chunks on the battlefield, using them as cover to obscure Fearow's line of sight and reduce its chances of being targeted. However, from its aerial vantage point, Fearow quickly located its target.

In a flash, Fearow dove toward Jolteon, its wings glowing as it executed its move. Just as it closed in, Fearow accelerated, striking Jolteon with tremendous force before retreating to the sky.

Ice shards exploded across the field as Fearow's Aerial Ace shattered the blocks near Jolteon. Although Jolteon tried to evade, the attack was too swift.

Still, as a Flying-type move, it dealt only moderate damage. Jolteon landed gracefully and remained steady, awaiting Kai's next command.

"Now's your chance, Jolteon! Use Thunderbolt!"

Electricity crackled fiercely around Jolteon as it unleashed a powerful surge of energy. The electric currents arced chaotically through the air, catching Fearow in their grasp despite its desperate attempts to dodge.

The attack struck Fearow directly, causing it to screech in pain as its feathers became singed.

Seeing the critical damage Fearow had sustained, Gary finally conceded, retrieving Fearow into its Poké Ball. "Return, Fearow!" he muttered. "This isn't working."

After some thought, Gary sent out his next Pokémon. As the Poké Ball opened, Nidoking emerged onto the battlefield, its imposing form drawing gasps from the audience.

"Wow! It's Nidoking!" the announcer exclaimed. "A bold choice! Nidoking is immune to Electric attacks thanks to its Ground typing, but how will it fare on the icy field?"

Gary remained expressionless. Nidoking was one of his most trusted partners, alongside his Arcanine and Blastoise. It had earned countless victories and was a reliable powerhouse.

However, Gary knew he had little choice. Jolteon was proving to be a formidable opponent, and none of his other Pokémon had the strength to take it down. Nidoking was his best bet for turning the tide of the battle.

On the other side, Kai assessed the battlefield. The powerful Thunderbolt had fractured the ice beneath Jolteon's feet, causing slight cracks.

While the damage wasn't widespread yet, the ice's stability was noticeably compromised.

Kai knew he had the advantage in choosing his next Pokémon. The earlier momentum he'd gained allowed him to dictate the pace of the battle. And with Nidoking on the field, using Jolteon would be ineffective.

"Jolteon, return!" Kai called, retrieving his Electric-type. He quickly tossed another Poké Ball into the air.

"Come out, Gyarados!"

"GROOOOAAAAARRRRR!!!"

With a thunderous roar, the massive Water/Flying Pokémon appeared, landing heavily on the icy field. Its blood-red eyes locked onto Nidoking, while its sharp fangs gleamed menacingly.

Gary clenched his teeth. "A Gyarados? Seriously? Another type of advantage!"

He scowled, frustrated by what he perceived as Kai relying on type matchups to secure victory. 'Does this guy have no other strategy?'

The battle was far from over, but Gary couldn't shake the feeling that Kai's calculated approach was leaving him cornered.
