"GYAAAAAAAHHHHRRR!!!"
With a roar, Gyarados lunged at the octopus robot.
Naturally, the robot was not to be outdone. Its tentacles wrapped around Gyarados, and the two engaged in a fierce underwater battle.
The audience was thrilled by the intensity of the scene.
"Wow! This fight looks so real it's like they're actually battling!" one spectator exclaimed.
Another pointed at the stage with a mixture of awe and concern. "Look! Gyarados tore part of the robot's shell off. Are they really planning to reuse that machine after this?"
A third audience member gasped, staring at the ceiling. "Wait, they even made a hole in the gym's roof for this scene! Is that allowed?"
Despite its ferocity, the robot was no match for Gyarados. Under the relentless attacks, its armour was quickly shredded, and its mechanisms began to malfunction.
In the robot's control room, Meowth wrestled with the levers, beads of sweat dripping from his forehead.
"This Gyarados is too strong! The robot's at its limit we can't hold out any longer!"
"Then retreat already!" James said, satisfied with their haul. "We might not have caught Pikachu this time, but we snagged plenty of Pokémon. The Boss will definitely reward us!"
"Retreat? Now?" Jessie protested, adjusting her tutu. "I was planning to dazzle the audience with my dance moves!"
"You fool!" Meowth snapped, glaring at her. "If you want to avoid blasting off again, leaving now is the smartest option!"
Under Meowth's command, the octopus robot leapt out of the water, latching onto the damaged ceiling with its tentacles. With a final flip, it escaped through the gap.
Even now, the audience assumed this was all part of the performance, unaware that Team Rocket had just pulled off a heist right in front of them.
"Wait!" Brock shouted, pointing at the retreating robot. "They're getting away!"
Misty's sisters looked equally alarmed. "They've taken Misty too! What do we do now?" Daisy asked, her voice trembling.
Kai clenched his fists, ready to call off the performance to focus on rescuing Misty.
However, Ash's voice came through the earpiece, steady and determined:
"Don't worry about Misty and the Pokémon. Leave them to me!"
Without waiting for a response, Ash grabbed Pikachu and dashed out of the gym.
Kai hesitated. While Ash was strong, Team Rocket's cunning always made things unpredictable.
Brock's voice came through next, calm and reassuring. "Ash can't handle this alone. I'll help him out. You all focus on finishing the performance!"
Hearing this, Daisy let out a deep sigh and nodded. Splitting into two teams seemed to be the best option for now.
As Brock and Ash left in pursuit of Team Rocket, Lily asked, worried, "Will they be okay?"
"We have to trust them," Daisy replied, though her voice wavered. "For now, we need to focus on keeping the performance going!"
Turning to the others, Daisy made a quick decision. "Lily, you'll take Misty's place as the lead. We'll adapt the story on the fly. Everyone, follow my lead!"
"Me?!" Lily stammered. "But I'm supposed to be the sea witch!"
"We don't have a choice!" Daisy frowned, already brainstorming adjustments. "Just go with it!"

Back in the broadcasting room, Daisy steadied herself, piecing together a revised plot. Her voice carried over the speakers:
"The sudden arrival of villains led to the capture of the mermaid princess. With no other options, the maid and the sailor set off to rescue her. Meanwhile, the prince, consumed by a desire for revenge, sought the sea witch's help to defeat the pirates invading his homeland."
The audience was taken aback by the unexpected twist, but their excitement only grew.
Onstage, Kai and the others followed Daisy's improvised directions, performing seamlessly despite the chaotic changes.
Even Kai himself was unsure of the story at this point, but the audience was captivated.
Finally, with Gyarados and the witch's help, the prince defeated the pirates and restored peace to the kingdom.
"Excellent work!" Daisy encouraged through the earpiece. "The story's almost over don't lose focus!"
Just then, Brock's voice came through the comms.
"Daisy, Misty and the Pokémon are safe! We're on our way back and should arrive in 10 minutes!"
"Ten minutes?" Daisy glanced at the clock. "That's too long! We'll finish without them."
Taking control of the narrative, Daisy announced:
"And so, the prince and the sea witch, having triumphed over the pirates, found happiness together."
As the final scene unfolded, the audience watched as the fighting subsided, homes were restored, and the kingdom returned to peace.
Originally, the story was meant to end with the prince and the mermaid princess embracing. But with Misty absent, the scene had to change.
When Misty finally arrived backstage, out of breath, she froze as she saw Kai and Lily sharing an embrace onstage.
From the audience's perspective, the two appeared to gaze lovingly into each other's eyes.
"Kiss! Kiss!" The audience's cheers grew louder, urging the actors on.
Kai hesitated, glancing at Lily, who blushed but nodded.
With no other options, Kai leaned in. As their lips almost touched, the curtain descended, hiding them from view.
---
Backstage, Misty watched in disbelief, tears welling up in her eyes.
"That was supposed to be my moment…" she whispered, her heart breaking.
Meanwhile, the audience erupted into applause, their excitement palpable.
"That was incredible!"
"I've never seen such an unexpected ending!"
"I hope they perform again soon!"
Despite the chaos, the performance was a resounding success though not without its share of heartbreak.
