Pokémon: Rewriting Ash’s Legend

Chapter 340: The Robot of the Lumiose Gym!

"Clemont, Bonnie, what's wrong with you two? Lumiose City is just ahead, but you both don't seem very happy."

Serena suddenly noticed the siblings' odd expressions.

Clemont froze for a second, then quickly shook his head.

"How could that be? Haha, nothing's wrong. Oh, by the way—do you guys know about the Lumiose Gym?"

Clemont asked out of nowhere.

Serena had heard about it the first time she came to Lumiose City to meet Professor Sycamore. She nodded and said,

"I heard the Gym Leader there is actually a robot. Isn't that bizarre? And apparently, if a challenger loses, they get shocked with electricity and thrown out! Totally unreasonable—how could a place like that exist?"

Serena tapped her lower lip with her index finger as she spoke, walking alongside the group. Clemont subtly exchanged a glance with his little sister, both of them giving awkward smiles.

"Mm. The Prism Tower—that's where the Lumiose Gym is located."

Ash, watching the two siblings trying to hide something, smirked inwardly. He didn't call them out—he knew that, according to the original events, they'd soon bump into Clemont and Bonnie's father on the street anyway.

"In that case, I think we should leave this street quickly and head somewhere else. Let's get going to Cyllage City so Ash can challenge the Cyllage Gym."

"Yes, yes—big brother's right!"

This time, Bonnie agreed with her brother's suggestion immediately.

"Hey, isn't that Clemont and Bonnie? Instead of figuring out how to take back control of the Lumiose Gym, what are you two doing here? As a Gym Leader, this is completely unacceptable."

He's here!

The moment they heard the voice, Clemont and Bonnie instantly knew—yep, they'd just run into their dad. What a coincidence.

And of course, he outright spilled the secret: Clemont was a Gym Leader.

They stiffly turned their heads to see a man riding a small electric scooter, with an Ampharos sitting on the back.

"Hello there, everyone. Are you friends of Clemont and Bonnie? My name is Meyer. I'm their father, and I run an electronics store here in Lumiose City."

The man greeted Ash and Serena warmly.

After confirming they were indeed his kids' friends, Meyer was so moved he nearly teared up.

Ash, however, felt a bit awkward.

After all, he knew this man wasn't just some store owner—Meyer had a Blaziken capable of Mega Evolution, and his own physical abilities were outstanding. His jumping power alone rivaled the likes of Bruno from Kanto.

When no one was looking, Meyer and Blaziken would patrol Lumiose City, helping people in need.

But looking at his current, friendly shopkeeper demeanor… it was hard to connect the two images.

After Meyer left, Serena turned angrily to Clemont and Bonnie, demanding to know why they hadn't told her the truth.

"Well, it's not like I meant to hide it… sorry, it's just that…"

Clemont hesitated before finally explaining the whole story to Ash and Serena.

It turned out Clemont had been called a genius child of Lumiose City since he was young, thanks to his love of inventing.

Eventually, he even became the Lumiose Gym Leader—believing it would help him grow faster.

When he defeated challengers, he could give them advice and reflect on his own skills. And if he lost, he could learn from those stronger than him.

But soon, Clemont discovered that being a Gym Leader left him with almost no time to work on his beloved inventions.

So, he came up with an idea: create a robot to take his place as Gym Leader.

For someone who'd been inventing since childhood, this was doable.

Thus, the robot "Clembot" was born.

Clemont programmed all his battle experience into Clembot's AI, along with a few operating protocols.

However, since this was his first time making such a robot, there were flaws. And when Clembot accidentally fell off the table, it suffered damage.

The result? Clembot no longer recognized Clemont or Bonnie as its rightful owners—it saw them as challengers instead.

And since one of its programmed conditions was that challengers should ideally have at least four Badges, the damaged AI now demanded that requirement without exception.

Thus, Clemont and Bonnie—without four Badges—were thrown out of their own Gym.

Clemont even tried activating Clembot's "Owner Battle Mode" but failed because he'd forgotten the password.

It sounded ridiculous—being kicked out by his own invention—but that's exactly why Clemont decided to travel with Bonnie: to meet more people, improve himself, and one day take the Gym back.

"Oh, so that's all it was? You could've just told us."

"Clemont, let's go—we'll help you take back your Gym."

Ash and Serena's support left Clemont and Bonnie deeply touched.

Clemont then led the group to a side entrance of the Gym.

Inside, they found a Magnemite and a Magneton patrolling as security.

Pikachu quickly dealt with them, and soon the group confronted Clembot.

With some effort, Clemont remembered the password for Owner Battle Mode.

In the ensuing battle, with the help of his Bunnelby, Clemont defeated Clembot and updated its software entirely.

He also replaced its components—creating a brand-new Clembot: polite, humble, and capable of giving advice after a win. No more shocking challengers.

With the matter perfectly resolved, Ash didn't challenge the Lumiose Gym immediately, so the system's sign-in function didn't trigger.

As the four of them began exploring Lumiose City, at the city's airport, a strange trio disembarked from a plane.
