Chapter 331: Chapter 13: Sunburst Island
"As expected of Ash! The champion of the Indigo Plateau Conference is truly on another level," someone remarked as Ash and his companions left Mikan Gym.
"Blastoise's strength is incredible. To sustain Hydro Pump at such an intense level for that long—it's not something just any Pokémon can do!"
"It takes immense stamina and energy to maintain such an attack," another added, clearly in awe.
"And that Powerful Propulsion Device—what a cool name!" Senta said with admiration, watching Ash's figure disappear into the distance.
Not only had Ash defeated his sister, but he had done so in such a stylish and innovative manner.
"Sis!" Senta called out, his tone uncharacteristically serious as he turned to Cissy.
"What's up?" Cissy looked at her younger brother curiously, surprised by his determined expression.
"I've made up my mind," Senta said, clenching his fists. "I don't want to stay here in the Orange Islands anymore. I want to see the world beyond. I want to challenge the Indigo League!"
Cissy's eyes widened in surprise before softening into a smile. She placed a hand on his shoulder. "Of course, Senta. I believe in you. You'll become a strong trainer, just like you've always dreamed."
Senta blinked, stunned. He had braced himself for rejection—just like when he first brought this up at the start of his journey. But this time, her response was entirely different.
"After battling Ash, I realized something," Cissy continued, ruffling his hair gently. "I can't keep you here forever. You're not a kid anymore. I used to be scared something might happen to you out there, but I understand now—you're like a young bird. You need to spread your wings and leave the nest if you're ever going to soar."
Her tone shifted as she straightened up, her expression stern. "But listen, you'd better win the next Indigo Plateau Conference—or don't bother coming back!"
"Yes, ma'am!" Senta replied, a huge grin spreading across his face. His heart raced with excitement. He had made his decision: he would follow Ash's path, train hard, and one day stand as his equal.

After leaving the gym, it was only mid-afternoon, so Ash, Misty, and Tracey decided to explore the town.
While Mikan Island didn't have much in the way of tourist attractions, it did have a few fun spots for visitors.
The trio spent some time at a game center before heading to a barbecue restaurant for dinner.
After their meal, they returned to the Pokémon Center to rest, preparing for the next leg of their journey.
—--
The following morning, Ash and his companions set out once again, travelling on Lapras. The Pokémon had grown noticeably stronger and faster, having grown accustomed to carrying its passengers.
Their destination was Sunburst Island, located to the east of Mikan Island. Unlike Tangelo Island, Sunburst Island was famous for its stunning glass products and thriving artisan community.
Initially, the group had planned to visit Mandarin Island to the north, but after some research, they discovered it didn't offer anything of interest. Instead, they chose to head straight for Sunburst Island.
For Ash, however, the trip had a hidden purpose. While Misty and Tracey were excited to see the renowned glasswork, Ash was more interested in a rare Pokémon rumored to live there: the Crystal Onix.
By noon, Lapras had brought them to Sunburst Island. Its increased speed made the journey much shorter than expected.
The island itself was modern, with a bustling town connected by a road to a nearby village. The village was home to many glass artisans, whose creations drew visitors from across the world.
The group decided not to stay in town, opting instead to camp by the beach near the village. After a quick lunch, they began the trek to the artisan village on foot.
The sun blazed overhead as they walked, but the scenic views and fresh sea breeze made the journey enjoyable. By mid-afternoon, they arrived at the village, greeted by rows of shops displaying exquisite glassworks.
The craftsmanship was impressive, but the prices were equally astonishing. Even the smallest trinkets cost more than a day's worth of food.
As the trio admired the displays, Ash's attention was drawn to a commotion nearby.
"Why is your shop still open?" a young man sneered, his tone dripping with condescension.
Following the voice, Ash spotted a small girl, no older than five or six, standing nervously in front of a modest shop. She looked uncomfortable under the young man's glare.
"But…" the girl stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
"You've got nothing to sell, so why bother? Just give up and tell your brother to close this place down. He has no talent—it's better to cut his losses now!"
The man's eyes gleamed with greed as he glanced at the shop. Though small, it occupied prime real estate, and it was clear he wanted it for himself.
—----
Ash frowned, stepping forward. "Hey! Leave her alone."
The man turned, startled by Ash's sudden intervention. His expression twisted in annoyance as he sized up the young trainer.
"And who are you supposed to be?"
"A trainer who doesn't appreciate bullies," Ash replied firmly, crossing his arms.
Misty and Tracey joined him, both glaring at the man.
The little girl looked up at Ash, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and gratitude.
"Why don't you mind your own business?" the man snapped, but his confidence faltered under the trio's united front.
"You should take your own advice," Misty shot back, her tone icy.
Grumbling under his breath, the man turned and walked away, though not without a final glance at the shop.
Ash knelt down to the little girl's level. "Are you okay?" he asked gently.
The girl nodded, though her eyes were still watery. "Thank you," she whispered.
Ash smiled warmly. "Don't let anyone push you around, okay? Your brother's shop is just as important as anyone else's."
With that, the trio turned their attention to the shop, curious about its story—and the talented craftsman behind it.
