Chapter 20: Chapter 19: Frogadier's Evolution—Breaking Into Elite Level
After successfully capturing Bagon, Ryuu decided to stay in Wandering Falls for a while.
There was still over a month left of vacation, and this place was perfect for training.
With countless wild Pokémon around, this was the ideal spot to harden his team before returning home.
Bagon and Froakie both needed intense training.
While Bagon was a future powerhouse, it still had a long way to go before evolving into Salamence.
Ryuu knew that to unlock its full potential, he needed to train it as much as possible.
However, that didn't mean Froakie would be neglected.
Right now, he only had two Pokémon—which meant he had more than enough time to train both effectively.
And so, for the next five days, he threw himself into intense battle drills.
---
In the dense forest, Ryuu stood with Froakie in front of him, facing down a wild Pidgeotto that soared above them.
This would be Froakie's final battle before moving on.
"Froakie, Water Pulse!"
Froakie swiftly formed a water sphere in both hands before hurling it forward.
The high-pressure water blast shot toward Pidgeotto, but the bird Pokémon was fast—
It flapped its wings, twisting midair to barely dodge the attack.
Then, in a counterattack, Pidgeotto spread its wings wide—
"Gust!"
A whirling windstorm tore through the clearing, kicking up dirt and leaves.
Froakie narrowed its eyes, quickly jumping to the side to dodge.
Ryuu smirked.
This was nothing.
"Water Pulse—again!"
Froakie adjusted mid-dodge, spinning its body before launching another jet of water.
Direct hit!
The attack struck Pidgeotto's wings, soaking them completely.
The bird Pokémon screeched, struggling as it lost its ability to stay airborne.
It spiraled down, crashing to the ground—unable to battle any longer.
"Victory."
Ryuu let out a breath of satisfaction.
But just as he was about to call Froakie back—
A blinding white light suddenly engulfed the Water-type Pokémon.
Ryuu's eyes widened in surprise.
"It's evolving?!"
The white light surrounding Froakie intensified, its silhouette shifting.
Its body grew larger, limbs becoming more defined.
The glow pulsed once—then faded.
In Froakie's place stood a sleek, powerful Pokémon—
Frogadier.
Ryuu's lips curled into a wide grin.
"You did it."
The newly evolved Frogadier opened its golden eyes, flexing its fingers as if testing out its enhanced agility.
Then—without hesitation—it extended a hand toward Ryuu.
Ryuu smirked and clasped it firmly.
They had just reached a new level.
"From now on, you're Frogadier."
"Froaaaaa!"
Frogadier nodded, excitement gleaming in its eyes.
[Pokémon Status: Frogadier]
Level: 29
Skills: Icy Wind, Water Pulse, Quick Attack…
Potential: Elite Level
New move unlocked— Icy Wind.
An Ice-type attack—the perfect counter for Grass-type Pokémon in future battles.
Ryuu clenched his fist.
"Elite level already—this is perfect."
It had only been a few days, yet Frogadier had evolved far faster than normal.
This was all thanks to the Essence of Water and the Perfect Energy Cubes.
Had he not obtained those key resources, it would have taken weeks—if not months—for this evolution to happen.
But Ryuu wasn't satisfied yet.
If he could find Mystic Water, it would push Frogadier even further—maybe even help it break into the Gym Level.
Unfortunately, Mystic Water was incredibly rare.
Only a handful of trainers ever got their hands on one, and it was worth hundreds of millions in the market.
Still, one step at a time.
For now—he had another important task to complete.
---
Something clicked in Ryuu's mind.
"Wait… wasn't I supposed to pick up something important?"
Then, like a flash of lightning—
He remembered.
The Magnet Fragment.
For the past five days, he had been so focused on training Bagon and evolving Froakie, that he had completely forgotten about the Purple Destiny marker.
Ryuu slapped his forehead.
"I can't believe I almost forgot that!"
According to his system's Purple Destiny, a Magnet Fragment was waiting somewhere nearby.
He quickly opened his system and activated the marker.
A blue glowing path appeared before him, guiding him through the trees.
He followed it for several minutes before arriving at a small wasteland-like clearing.
Unlike the rest of the lush jungle, this area had no trees, no grass—just dry, cracked earth.
And in the center—
A medium-sized rock with a faint blue shimmer.
Ryuu stepped forward and knelt beside it.
Embedded within the rock, partially visible, was a shard of a Magnet.
He grabbed it and carefully pulled it free.
Instantly, he could feel a slight surge of electric energy tingling in his palm.
This was no ordinary stone.
It was a fragment of an Electric-type secret treasure.
"Jackpot."
This wasn't just some rare collectible—this could help boost Electric-type Pokémon's power.
And he knew exactly who to give it to.
His father, Fujiwara Daiki, had spent years training his Electivire, yet had never once found a Magnet Fragment.
Now, with this—
Maybe, just maybe—his father's Electivire could push past its limit.
Ryuu clenched the fragment in his fist.
"This trip was worth it."
