Pokémon: My Farm Adventures

Chapter 55: Chapter 55:Return to Aoi District, and I Got Ralts!

In the morning, the air was fresh and pleasant after the rain.

Under the eaves, droplets hung like pearls.

With a plop, one fell to the ground.

Natsume got out of bed and went to the large balcony to look outside.

The land had become muddy.

Sandslash was observing the growth of the Hearty Grains and Plump Beans in the field.

The Swadloon were scattered around the farm, using their abilities to help them grow better.

In the empty plot of land.

The two Buneary were exercising with Farfetch'd~.

This surprised Natsume a bit.

However, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

"Good morning, everyone."

Natsume extended his hand from the large balcony and waved to the Pokémon in the farm.

"Buneary~"

Buneary saw Natsume and happily responded.

"Houndoom~"

The Houndoom were full of spirit, letting out a loud howl.

The sound startled a small group of Spearow from the distant bushes.

Natsume turned around and walked downstairs.

"Leavanny~"

Leavanny was standing in front of the cutting board, using Leaf Blade!

Leavanny swung the Leaf Blade, quickly slicing the ingredients on the cutting board into pieces.

"Next, just put everything into the pot and let it simmer, right, Rotom?"

Rotom was nearby showing a video on how to make soup and occasionally provided tips.

"Good morning, Rotom, Leavanny."

"Good morning, Rotom."

"Leavanny~"

Natsume stepped forward and looked at the soup Leavanny was making, saying, "Great job, Leavanny."

"Leavanny~"

Leavanny smiled at Natsume's praise.

Natsume went outside and arrived by the stream next to the bamboo grove in the backyard.

In the water, Feebas was practicing its move.

It used Water Pulse, seemingly trying to change the shape of its Water Pulse.

Pop~

The water balloon burst.

Glub, glub~

Feebas looked blank for a moment before trying again.

Pop~

The water balloon burst once more.

Natsume walked over and sat next to Feebas, saying, "Feebas, are you practicing Bulbasaur's move?"

Feebas swished its tail.

"Then let me ask Bulbasaur for the practice method."

Natsume took out his phone and sent a message to Aiko, asking about Bulbasaur's practice method.

Aiko replied quickly, "It's very simple."

"I first bought a heart-shaped mold, then had Bulbasaur use Magical Leaf to cover the mold."

"Once it's skilled, Bulbasaur will remember the flow and arrangement of energy, and then it just needs to enlarge the mold."

"However, practicing this move for too long can have side effects."

Aiko added a silly emoji: "My Bulbasaur nearly gave a heart sign during a battle with a friend."

"People almost misunderstood that I was confessing my feelings."

Natsume typed, "Thanks, I'll treat you to a meal sometime."

Aiko replied: "Hehe, just don't make me work in the fields."

Natsume put down his phone and said to Feebas, "Wait a moment, Feebas."

"I'll go make you a mold."

Natsume found a piece of wood, drew a heart shape on it with a pen, and then had Leavanny help him use Leaf Blade to carve it out.

Natsume returned to the riverbank and hung this mold on a bamboo that bent toward the river.

As he tied the string, he said to Feebas, "You can control the water waves in this mold."

"Let the water take on the shape of a heart."

"With the mold, it will be much easier for you to practice."

Feebas floated next to Natsume, quietly watching him as he tied the mold.

Once finished, Natsume looked at Feebas and said, "Give it a try."

Feebas concentrated on the water waves, trying to shape them within the mold.

This time, it succeeded.

The water flowed into the mold, forming a heart shape.

But soon after, the water suddenly burst apart.

"Don't be discouraged, Feebas."

Natsume encouraged Feebas, saying, "We already have a great start."

Feebas showed a serious expression.

Feebas began practicing once again.

In the bamboo grove, the Sewaddle seemed to have adapted well to life on the farm.

This put Natsume at ease.

"It's time to eat, Rotom~"

The call of Rotom echoed.

Natsume turned and replied, "Coming."

Today's breakfast was entirely prepared by Leavanny.

As a nurturing little Pokémon, it naturally loves to take care of others.

Natsume looked at everyone gathered together and said, "Everyone, the matters in Aoi District aren't finished yet, so we'll need to go for a few more days."

Natsume asked Buneary, "Are you going to come along?"

Buneary exchanged glances and then shook their heads.

This surprised Natsume a bit.

"Eh?"

"Why not?"

Buneary looked at Natsume seriously and said, "Buneary."

During the last phone call with Natsume, they learned about his experiences.

Buneary was worried that their presence would cause trouble for Natsume, so they wanted to work hard to grow stronger.

They wished to be strong enough to protect Natsume before they traveled together again.

After hearing what Buneary said, Natsume showed an enlightened expression.

"I see."

Natsume looked at the two Buneary and said, "Is this the reason you started exercising?"

"Awooo!"

Natsume smiled and said, "I'm really touched."

"Then everyone needs to work hard together!"

Natsume looked at everyone and said, "In that case, we'll stick to the same arrangement as last time."

"Dragonair, Arcanine, and Serperior will travel with me while the others stay at the farm."

Dragonair and the others had no objections.

Sandslash and Houndoom, who would stay at home, also had no objections.

Natsume smiled and said, "Then it's settled."

After breakfast.

Natsume began to organize the items he needed to take with him.

Since he wasn't sure how many Pokémon he would capture, Natsume prepared fifty Poké Balls.

For something like this, the more, the better.

Even if they weren't needed, they could be taken back later.

Natsume also sorted through the items he had on him.

Aside from the Soothe Bell hanging on the windowsill, he had a Rare Candy and a Secret Technique: Hail that he hadn't used.

The Rare Candy could instantly increase a Pokémon's level.

Natsume planned to use it during crucial moments.

For example, when Dragonair reached level 54 and was about to evolve, or if any of the Pokémon at home were stuck at level 49.

As for the Secret Technique: Hail, the most suitable Pokémon would of course be Ice-type Pokémon.

Unfortunately, there weren't many Ice-type Pokémon in the southern region.

"Rotom, the outdoor living tools and emergency supplies are all ready."

Rotom flew over.

"Thank you, Rotom."

Natsume took the backpack that Rotom handed to him.

"Alright, with that, everything is ready to go."

Natsume slung the backpack over his shoulders and went outside.

"Sandslash~"

"Houndoom."

Sandslash and Houndoom gathered around.

Natsume looked at the assembled Pokémon and said, "Leavanny, Sandslash, Houndoom, and Farfetch'd, I'll leave everything to you while I'm gone."

Leavanny nodded slightly.

Sandslash raised its arms.

"Farfetch'd!"

Farfetch'd swung its leek and looked determined.

"Come on in, Arcanine, Serperior."

Natsume recalled Arcanine and Serperior into their Poké Balls, then climbed onto Dragonair's back.

"Let's go, Dragonair."

"Dragonair~"

Dragonair soared into the sky.

"Houndoom~"

Watching Natsume leave while sitting on Dragonair, Houndoom Leader and the Houndour howled.

Hokkaido, Aoi District.

"Dragonair~"

Dragonair carried Natsume through the sea of clouds.

"Dragonair, this is the place; let's land."

"Dragonair~"

Dragonair lowered its flying altitude and brought Natsume down into the forest.

This place was where Natsume had camped last time.

Natsume jumped down from Dragonair.

It appeared that Aoi District had also experienced heavy rain last night.

The yellow-brown soil was covered with leaves that had fallen due to the rain.

The rocks, soaked overnight, looked much slicker.

A group of Ledyba rested on the dew-dripping branches.

They were startled by the sudden descent of Natsume and Dragonair and all flew away.

A few Water-type Pokémon, which had been moving along the riverbank, were similarly startled.

They dove straight into the river water.

Natsume smiled at Dragonair and said, "What a strong presence you have, Dragonair."

"Dragonair~"

Natsume looked at the time; it was now one o'clock in the afternoon.

In the task to explore Aoi District, there was still some time left to check the river section.

"Come on out, Arcanine."

Natsume released Arcanine.

"Dragonair, you can rest in your ball for a while."

Dragonair nodded and then entered its Poké Ball.

Arcanine sniffed around, looking quite excited.

"Arcanine, do you smell Ralts nearby?"

Arcanine shook its head.

Natsume scratched his head, "Forget it."

"Let's walk along this river and see if we can find an entrance to an underground cave or something like that."

"Awooo~"

Arcanine immediately ran ahead of Natsume to scout the path.

Aoi District was indeed the largest natural Pokémon sanctuary in the region.

After walking for an afternoon, Natsume had discovered at least twenty different species of Pokémon.

Now and then, Water-type Pokémon would leap out of the water's surface.

The sky gradually darkened.

"Awooo."

Arcanine suddenly sniffed the air and alerted Natsume.

"Is there someone ahead?"

"Awooo~"

Arcanine nodded.

"Let's go check it out."

Through some aquatic plants, Natsume spotted a man wearing a straw hat sitting quietly with a Floatzel.

He was fishing.

Fishing enthusiasts are everywhere.

Regarding fishing, even those who don't fish much tend to want to go check out the excitement when they see someone at it.

Natsume approached with interest.

The fisherman looked quite frustrated at the moment.

As he saw Natsume approaching, he immediately said, "I almost caught a Basculin just now!"

"That Basculin was huge; it looked like it was at least one and a half meters long!"

Natsume exclaimed, "One and a half meters? That's quite rare."

"Indeed."

The fisherman pointed to a broken rod nearby and said, "That guy snapped one of my fishing rods."

Natsume glanced at the Floatzel next to him.

This Floatzel was level 38.

It certainly had the ability to dive in and catch that Basculin.

But doing so wouldn't mean much for the fisherman.

For the fisherman, the most satisfying thing was probably to have a vigorous battle with a Basculin that put up a strong fight once hooked.

"Hey there, are you here to go fishing too?"

Natsume shook his head slightly, "No, I'm not."

"I'm here to look for small Pokémon that can thrive on my farm."

"Farm?"

The fisherman looked at Natsume in surprise, "Are you a farm owner?"

"Yes."

"Do you have Plump Beans on your farm?"

Natsume nodded, "Of course."

"My farm mainly plants Hearty Grains, Plump Beans, and Springy Mushrooms."

The fisherman hesitated for a moment and asked, "Can I take a look?"

"Sure."

Natsume readily took out his phone and pulled up the video he had recorded of the Plump Beans.

Natsume also pulled out a bag of Plump Beans from his backpack that he planned to use for cooking.

"These are the products from my farm."

"Take a look."

The fisherman examined the video on Natsume's phone seriously, then took a Plump Bean from Natsume's bag and popped it into his mouth.

After tasting it, the fisherman's eyes brightened slightly: "Not bad."

"Dude, how's the yield on your farm?"

Natsume looked at the fisherman and asked in return, "How much do you need?"

The fisherman thought for a moment and replied, "About ten thousand pounds each quarter."

Quest Reward: Rare Candy 1, Type Gems Draw 1, Secret Technique Draw *10.

Natsume glanced at the new task on his phone.

Currently, the farm's only distribution channel was Snorlax Food Company.

Clearly, Natsume needed to find two more channels.

Natsume said to the fisherman, "No problem."

"Are you planning to pick up the goods in person, or should I arrange for delivery?"

The fisherman smiled and replied, "To be honest, I'd like to tour your farm. If that's okay, I think we could establish a long-term partnership."

Natsume nodded slightly: "Of course, that's fine."

Plump Beans cost 300 yen per pound, so for ten thousand pounds, it would be three million yen.

This group of fishing enthusiasts was quite remarkable.

There were people who loved fishing among commoners as well as the affluent.

However, for someone to come out to this remote mountain area to fish, they likely weren't ordinary folks.

While the two were chatting, the fisherman's fishing float suddenly sank sharply.

"It's here!"

The fisherman tightened his grip on the fishing rod and shouted excitedly.

Splash~

A Basculin leaped out of the water with a mighty force.

"This is the one!"

The fisherman exclaimed, "I remember its pattern!"

"Floatzel!"

Floatzel perked up and immediately stood up from the ground.

Natsume stepped back a little to give him space.

The fishing rod was bent nearly into a crescent shape from the tug-of-war with the fish.

The fisherman's face was flushed, and he was exerting all his strength.

The Basculin in the water was desperately resisting.

Splash~

One of the fisherman's legs fell into the water, but he immediately gathered his strength and retreated toward the shore.

"Awooo~"

Arcanine suddenly became inexplicably excited, jumping up and down beside him.

Meanwhile, deep in the forest.

"Ralts!"

Ralts's red antennae swayed slightly.

Its psychic energy passed through the dense tree clump, revealing the scene by the river.

"Ralts!"

Holding the small bowl, Ralts called out excitedly and instantly vanished from the spot.

The tug-of-war by the river lasted a full half hour.

The fisherman gave a strong pull, sending the Basculin soaring into the sky.

Just as it was about to fall back into the water, the Floatzel that had been standing nearby jumped up in an instant, kicking the Basculin onto the shore.

The fisherman burst out laughing and looked at Natsume, saying, "What do you think? Is this fish big enough?"

Natsume gave a thumbs-up and said, "Impressive."

"Awooo."

Arcanine suddenly stopped in its tracks, sniffed the air, and called out to Natsume.

Natsume paused for a moment and looked toward the nearby woods.

Natsume thought to himself, "Ralts?"

"You're back, Natsume~"

Ralts's joyful voice echoed in Natsume's mind.

This time, he had to bring Ralts back to the farm.

Natsume instinctively had this thought.

As soon as the thought emerged, Natsume became somewhat worried.

This Ralts seemed to be very wary of humans.

"Alright~"

Ralts's voice rang out in Natsume's mind.

Just like when Natsume first laid eyes on Ralts and wanted to take it back to the farm.

Ralts was equally drawn to Natsume.

This was truly a mutual pursuit.
