Chapter 45: Chapter 45 - An Afternoon at Labuyo Town

As other people and their Pokémon took cover from the rain, Rico immediately called all of his Pokémon back to their Poké Balls in order to prevent them from being soaked by the rain.

After that, Rico thought about the weather, "Yeah, weather in this region was so unpredictable." He then started running to a nearby sheltered bus stop with his hood on. Arriving there, Rico took off his hood and started wiping the rain water from his body with a blue and white, textile-patterned towel.

"Man, how I supposed to enjoy my time in this town if it rains?" he asked himself.

But then, the hooded figure from earlier came to him, and Rico looked at him in response.

"Hey, you're that hooded guy from earlier," he said to him.

Not revealing who he is, the hooded figure told him, "Come with me." He then walked away, causing Rico to follow him.

Along the way, with his hood on, Rico thought to himself, "Why is he doing this? To show me something or somewhere? I had no idea."

Not long after, they had arrived at an inn, and the hooded figure asked him, "the gym is closed, right?"

Looking at him, Rico nodded to say yes.

"Good. I know that as well. You might need a place to stay for a night or two." He then looked at the inn, and continued, "This is it. This is an inn. I worked here."

"Oh, okay then," Rico responded back.

Looking at Rico, the hooded figure said to me, "Let's go in."

Rico agreed with him, and they entered in.

In the lobby, the innkeeper, a fat, middle-aged man, gave Rico a welcome and a welcome back to the hooded figure.

"Hi there, sir," Rico positively responded back. "I'm here to stay for at least three nights."

"I see, come with me at the receptionist's desk to give you a room," the innkeeper replied. He then walked to the receptionist's desk, and Rico and the hooded figure followed shortly.

At the receptionist's desk, the innkeeper requested for a room for three nights for Rico.

"Okay, sir," the receptionist responded. Then to Rico, "That'll be 150 Poké Dollars, kid."

Rico then get his wallet from his backpack, get some money, and give it to the receptionist.

Receiving the money, the receptionist gave him a key while saying, "Enjoy your stay."

Receiving the key, Rico responded back, "Thanks."

"Okay then," the innkeeper responded to this. Then to the hooded figure, "Will you take him to his room?"

"Got it, boss," the hooded figure replied back with obedience. Then to Rico, "Come with me." He then walked towards the hallway of rooms. Rico then grabbed his backpack and wallet and go after the hooded figure.

Not long after, they found the room, which was just a few rooms away from the inn's bathhouse, and Rico unlocked the door using the key and opened the door, turning on the lights. The room was semi-big, and it had a bed, a trash bin, a desk, a chair, and a wardrobe. It doesn't have a bathroom or balcony because the inn already had a bathhouse, and the room only had a window. The bedsheets, pillows, and blankets are colorful as well.

"Wow, looks decent," Rico commented to this.

"Enjoy your stay here," the hooded figure told him in a monotone voice. He then turned around and walked away. Rico, seeing this, then entered in and closed the door.

Later, at lunch time, Rico ate some store-bought sandwiches, and all of his Pokémon are eating their special food on the floor. As he eats, Rico watched the rain outside. Then, suddenly, the rain stopped pouring, and clouds revealed the sun once more, giving light down the land. Rico was surprised to see that, thinking in his mind, "Woah, that was fast." He then smiled and continued thinking, "Now I can enjoy the festival again."

His team are looking at him with semi-confusion, and Riolu responded in asking.

Rico then looked at him, and answered, "Let's go out."

His team then responded with positive excitement.

Shortly after lunch time, Rico and his team went out at the town's big plaza to enjoy the festival and try out its local foods. They strolled around, looking at the stalls and games. The festival was busy and full of activity. Profits were being made left and right. After some time, Rico and his team stopped at a souvenir stand, and looked at the various town souvenirs like keychains, postcards, and refrigerator magnets in rock bottom prices. The owner advertised his products to him.

"Wow, these are so cool," Rico commented. He then get one of the keychains and asked the owner for the price of it.

"That'll be 5 Poké Dollars, kid," the owner told him positively.

"Okay, how about this?" Rico asked while pointing at a postcard containing a view of Labuyo Town.

"That'll be 10 Poké Dollars," responded the owner.

In response to that, Rico get three keychains and three postcards, before opening his wallet and get some coins. The total price was 45 Poké Dollars. He then give the money to the owner.

Receiving the money, the owner get a medium-sized paper bag, placed all of Rico's purchases in it, fold it, and give it to Rico while saying, "Thank you for coming here."

Receiving the paper bag, Rico responded back politely and positively, "Thanks." He and his team then left the stand as the owner wavered goodbye to him.

While walking, Rico looked at the paper bag and thought to himself, "Man, mom and dad are gonna be happy to see this."

Not long after, they stopped at a food stand that sells spicy snacks like Tamato Berry Biscuits. The owner gave him a greeting of a hello and welcome to his stand.

"Hi, what are you selling, sir?" Rico asked him a question.

"I sold Tamato Berry Biscuits," the owner of the said stand responded back with a positive mood. "Those are biscuits mixed with bits of Tamato Berries. They might looked ordinary, but they give you a punch of spiciness."

"Oh, I see. Can I try one for free?"

The owner nodded. "Sure, get one in this plate." He then referred it to an actual plate of Tamato Berry Biscuits with a sign that says, "Try this!" Although Rico knew about spicy chips, he haven't tried any spicy biscuits yet.

In response to that, Rico get one and took a glance of it for few seconds. He then sniffed it and took a bite of it. He didn't felt any spiciness at all, so he ate the rest of the biscuit. But then, a few seconds later, he felt spicy in his tongue and mouth, causing him to breath heavily. His Pokémon team then got alerted by it. This also causes the owner to pour a glass of Moomoo Milk and give to Rico, telling him to drink it immediately. Receiving the glass of milk, Rico drank it straight, subsiding the spiciness a few seconds later. Rico then felt relieved by it and give the empty glass back to the owner.

"Are you okay, kid?" the owner asked him.

"I'm fine, sir, thanks for the milk," Rico answered him back as he breaths normally and slowly.

"You're welcome. Be careful with this kind of snack."

Starly then flew next to the plate of Tamato Berry Biscuits and is about to grab one when Rico gave it a warning that it will give it spiciness. In response to that, Starly didn't get any of those biscuits and just flew back to Rico's right shoulder. After some time, Rico said thank you and goodbye to the owner, and he and his team left the stand and continue strolling around town, before spending the rest of the afternoon going to the fields outside of town to train for the gym battle with Kale.
