Chapter 48: chapter 48

After General Stinger gave his message and the Ultra Beast invasion began, Faba and Domino stayed inside his lab, Faba was readjusting the machine that kept the portals open, while Domino, still wearing an Aether Employee outfit, remained there as a bodyguard in case someone made it the lab to try and stop them, although Aether Paradise was being guarded by many Ultra Beasts so that was unlikely to happen.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" Faba talked to Domino. "That person you mentioned, the one you said that could cause trouble, is Ash ketchum, isn't it?"

"Yes, and if I remember correctly, you know him." Domino asked.

"More than you think." Faba answered. "That boy already butchered one of my plans, but I won't let it happen again... it's his fault that I am where I am now, I lost my credibility, my status and my rank, all because of him."

"Yeah, join the club." Domino rolled her eyes.

"And what did he do to you?" Faba asked.

"That's not important, is it?" Domino let out a yawn. "Now, for a question that actually is relevant to all this, I knew you tried to summon the Ultra Beasts last year, and you more or less succeed, but Ash and company stopped you... Still, I had no idea you were allied with Team Rocket, so how did that happen and how did you end up working for Stinger?"

"First off, I work with Stinger, not for Stinger." He answered adjusting his glasses. "But telling you the story could be a good way to kill time while all this happens, so listen closely." Faba cleared his throat before continuing. "For years I've been studying the Ultra Beasts and the Ultra wormholes, I analyzed, tested and retested, I knew everything that there was to know about them, except for two things, how to summon them whenever I wanted and how to control them... But then I found something interesting." Faba handed her over an old book written in Alolan language and Domino opened it, she couldn't read it, but she saw that there were many old drawings that looked like petroglyphs of the Ultra Beasts.

"These ancient texts showed me what I needed to know." Faba continued. "They speak of a primal energy created when the Ultra Beasts first came to our world long ago, about good and evil, and of darker forces from other dimensions waiting to be unleashed... And then I found it, a special material with the power needed to travel space and time, to finally control the Ultra Beasts... but Aether would never fund the project, not after what happened with Ash... and I would need more than what I could find on my own here in Alola... much more... regardless of that, I began a series of private experiments, through trial and error I knew was onto something never before seen... and then it happened... A portal opened before me, but it was not what I expected at all... instead of bringing an Ultra beast here, I was pulled inside by the portal, that travel almost killed me, but it was well worth it... I ended up in the world of the Ligtbane, and they were rather curious about the whole situation, I'd say, they received me as a special guest in their kingdom and they told me about how they conquered the worlds of their dimension, bringing peace with an iron fist... Or claw... Or appendage... Whatever, I told them about the earth, and they began to prepare an invasion, but they told me that they would need my help to do that, hehe, to think the first beings to actually acknowledge my intelligence would be those beasts."

"Get to the point." Domino said.

"Well, the Ligtbane needed my help." Faba smirked. "So they supplied me with the energy I needed to return to my world and prepare the portals, and in exchange, I agreed to allow one of them to return here with me."

"That would be Mr. Stinger" Domino said.

"Yes, but I still needed funding for the device so the choice was oddly obvious." Faba answered.

"Team Rocket..." Domino trailed off.

"It all happened a few days after the incident with Team Galactic." Faba explained. "I managed to get a contact and Giovanni told me about the blueprints they had for Saturn's machine, it was the perfect opportunity, and Stinger decided to stay with Giovanni until the moment arrived... from what Stinger told me, he has been analyzing earth, now our plan is in motion, and Giovanni promised to let me govern Alola once the dust is settled."

"Really? You think that's all that's going to happen? You'll suddenly become king in here?" Domino asked. "You know how dangerous normal Ultra Beasts are, I don't even want to imagine what these evolved psychos are capable of, and in case you haven't noticed, Team Rocket also wants to dominate the world, you could become a loose end between all that."

Faba simply laughed at Domino. "Me? A loose end? Please, you Team Rocket may be strong, but you're backwards and naive as well, you'll agree to anything when the hint of a minor advantage is right in front of you, and from what I've seen, the Lightbane are not much different than that, I am the only one in control of this situation."

"You're being played, Faba." Domino replied.

"Ha! We'll see..." Faba grinned again. "After all, if you're asking me is because you didn't know about anything of this, right? For a second-in-command it seems like Giovanni doesn't trust you that much."

"..." Domino simply sighed and looked away.

"That's what I supposed..." Faba said. "And even then, if you really think I'm being played, why do you care?"

"I don't." Domino firmly answered.

"Pfft, whatever you say." Faba answered to then look outside a window. "They can tell me I'm no good and call me second rate, but soon they'll see, I'm meant to rule these pity islands and those who used to annoy me will be at my command"

"..." Domino sighed again and began to walk out of the lab.

"Where are you going?" Faba asked.

"To the security room." She answered. "I know this foundation has cameras all over Alola, I want to try and see what Ketchum is up to."

"Do you really think that kid will be able to stop all of this on his own?" Faba asked.

"...Ash Ketchum is never on his own." Domino answered.

Meanwhile at the Pokemon School.

"Here it is!" Ash exclaimed walking into his old classroom along his five girlfriends and his Alolan Pokemon Team, who had been helping them make their way through the Ultra Beasts so they could reach the school.

"Quite some memories rest here." Ash gave a nostalgic smile despite the situation.

"Uh, Ash, I don't want to be the one who breaks it to you, but I really doubt anything here will help us." Peonia said.

"Just wait and see." Ash walked to the teacher desk and pressed a button under it, causing the student desks to move aside and reveal a set of platforms. "There, Kukui told me about some modifications they had ready in case of emergency, everyone take a platform." Ash told them and once everyone was on place all of them rapidly descended to the Ultra Guardian's Base, where Kiawe, Sophocles and Wicke were waiting for them.

"Huff, welcome back to the command center everyone!" Wicke talked trying to act cheerful. "It's been a while, this is...oh my gosh, all of this is so wrong! Whatever, Lusamine isn't in Alola and Burnet is taking cover with Kukui so it'll be just me today and we... what are we supposed to do?!" How could I let all this happen?! Why didn't I suspect Faba could betray us?! ... AGAIN!"

"So Faba is behind all this?" Ash said.

"That dream you mentioned?" Acerola asked him.

"Yeah, he was leading an attack of Ultra Beasts and then Necrozma appeared." Ash answered. "...I hope this is just an awful coincidence."

"Considering who you are, I'm afraid that's probably not the case." Gloria said worried.

"Anyway, Faba was leading the last night shift in Aether." Wicke explained. "I don't know exactly what happened, but I passed the list of employees and Faba was the only person there, I'm sure that he helped those Lightbane get to Alola, he had been acting suspicious lately, well, more suspicious than usual... and everyone is going to blame me! I was in charge! Why didn't I just fire him?! Why did we even let him keep a job in Aether?! He attacked Ash and Lillie!"

"Miss Wicke, please calm down." Sophocles told her. "Let's just try to solve this problem for now."

"Where are Mallow and Lana?" Ash asked.

"We haven't seen them since the hospital." Kiawe answered.

"We've been trying to contact them, but Lana left her phone at home and Mallow doesn't want to answer hers." Sophocles added.

"And I guess I'm responsible for that." Ash sighed.

"Hey, it'll be fine." Kiawe put a hand over Ash's shoulder. "Even if Mallow is 'disappointed', there's no way she hates you."

"I hope you're right, Kiawe." Ash said.

"For now, the only hope we have left is you three." Wicke said. "The police and military are doing their best to fight back, but they'll need help, and that's where we come in, Aether Foundation was honestly fearing that an event like this could happen again so I took the liberty of updating your Ultra Guardians suits, first things first." Wicke presented them three metal wrist braces with buttons numbered from 0 to 9 plus two more buttons for * and # on top of them, each of the braces had a different color being red, yellow and dark blue. "These are the Z-Mode Braces. You'll need them to access your suits. In order to make them appear you need to be wearing the brace on your wrist, then shout 'Z-Mode Brace!' and press the buttons 0-0-0#."

"Do we really need to shout that while pressing the buttons?" Kiawe asked.

"Yeah, sounds like it could make us waste time." Sophocles added.

"Sorry, but it's necessary, the braces will be voice-activated after you first use them so it's for your own safety more than anything." Wicke then handed over to the boys a set of paper sheets. "Listen, aside from giving you the suits, the braces have various weapons and gadgets that will help you in this mission, they're also powered with fragments of different Z-Crystals, so you will be able of using some Pokemon-like moves on your own."

"Wow, that's quite the upgrade." Ash said.

"Well, the original plan was to use them in case the Pokemon turned against the human race, so I had to be prepared." Wicke answered.

"You're telling me you can make that kind of technology and instead of mass producing it for the authorities you decided to restrict it to the use of a group of teenagers?" Peonia asked.

"Yup, teenagers with attitude, Alpha Teens On Machines, whatever you want to call it, welcome to Aether." Wicke answered. "I mean they're still in testing, anyway, all those perks are activated with the different codes marked on the lists I just gave you."

"But there's more than a hundred codes here!" Kiawe exclaimed.

"Yes, and they're all important so please memorize them." Wicked replied. "Now let's try to transform."

"Transform?" Sophocles asked.

"Yes, you know, put on the suits." Wicke said.

"Well, ready guys?" Ash asked.

"Seems like we don't have much of a choice." Kiawe answered as the three put on the brace of their respective colors on their right wrists.

"Whenever you're ready." Wicke said taking a few steps back from them.

"Sure, girls, I think we should back down as well." Bea told them and they all did so.

"Alright everyone. Let's change!" Ash shouted and the three raised their arms. "Z-Mode Brace!" They shouted in unison pressing the buttons.

"0-0-0#" The braces talked with a robotic voice each time a button was pressed. "Change!" A Flash of light with their matching colors surrounded the three and once it disappeared they were wearing their old Ultra Guardians uniforms.

"Bursting with energy! UltraRed!" Kiawe shouted striking a pose.

"Breaking the limit! UltraYellow!" Sophocles followed him.

"A Splendid Rampage! UltraBlue!" Ash did the same and the three then looked at each other awkwardly.

"Uh...Why did we say that?" Ash asked.

"The updated suits kinda stimulate your brains a little." Wicke said. "You know, to help keep you active and thinking quick depending of the situation you face."

"Well, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss this." Kiawe said stretching.

"Feels as good as ever!" Sophocles made a jump.

"It's been a while, yeah." Ash asked to then look at his girlfriends. "How do I look girls?"

"If it was a bit more thigh it'd be perfect." Nessa smiled and the girls giggled at that.

"Alright boys, remember to try and memorize the codes, checking up the list during battle could be a problem." Wicke talked again. "They all activate with your voice like the transformation, for example there is 0-2-8*, that one will turn a current Ultra Guardian suit in a more armored version of itself and will fully cover your body to protect it, that includes a removable helmet too."

"Shall we try that as well?" Kiawe asked and they both nodded. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-2-8* Face on!" A flash of light illuminated them again and just like Wicke said the suits became more armored covering their entire bodies and giving them helmets of their receptive colors with black visors.

"Well, getting used to the helmets will be a little hard." Ash said taking it off.

"Yeah, though most protection is always welcomed this could get in the way." Kiawe took off the helmet as well. "I think it'll be better to leave them for emergencies."

"I think I'm staying with mine, it looks great." Sophocles said. "But if the braces always talk when we activate a code wouldn't that be a disadvantage if the enemy manages to predict what's going to happen?"

"Why is everyone so defeatist today?!" Wicked shouted. "I'm trying my best here! It was already hard to make these things! They gave me like two days to do things never done on this planet!"

"Uh, sorry, Miss Wicke." Sophocles said.

"Whatever, I also have Mallow and Lana's braces." Wicke showed them the green and light blue devices. "But it seems like they won't make it here, the problem is that these are already set to their voices since they attended to the trainings, unlike these two." She glared at Kiawe and Sophocles.

"I was, uh... Busy." Kiawe answered.

"And we really didn't think something like this could ever happen." Sophocles added. "At least not so soon."

"And look where that took you, the point is that resetting them would take too much time, so only Mallow and Lana can use these." Wicke said.

"Then I'll take them." Ash said. "I'll try to find Mallow and Lana while all this unfolds, maybe they'll want to help."

"Good luck then." Wicke nodded giving him the two braces and Ash placed them in one of the pockets of his suits.

"So it'll be just the three of us?" Sophocles asked. "Didn't you make braces for Lillie and Gladion?"

"I did actually, but Gladion has his own with him, I gave it to him when he visited Alola some weeks ago." Wicke answered.

"He was here?" Kiawe asked. "I didn't know about that, I wonder why he didn't tell us."

"He's still on his mission to find Mohn, so I guess he didn't want to 'waste time'." Wicke said." But I still have the brace that was meant for Lillie, I asked Gladion to give it to her, but he didn't want to, something about not getting her involved, you know him."

"Of course, Gladion has always been a caring brother despite everything." Ash said.

"Anyway, Lillie's brace is here." Wicke finally showed the pink device. "And since she hasn't been in Alola this one isn't set for her yet, meaning that someone else could use it."

"What about one of us then?" Gloria asked.

"Girls, I'm not gonna ask you to put yourselves in danger." Ash said.

"That's why we're offering ourselves, silly." Nessa said.

"But if this requires direct combat it'll be the best to leave it to Bea." Peonia said. "Everyone okay with that?" She asked and they all nodded.

"Fine, I'll gladly help of course." Bea walked to Wicke and received the brace and the code list. "...wait, this is pink?"

"Yes." Wicke said.

"So the suit is gonna be pink?" Bea asked.

"Well, yes." Wicke nodded.

"I'm not gonna wear pink!" Bea shouted embarrassed. "It... doesn't suit me at all."

"Please Bea, they need you here, you're our best fighter." Gloria said.

"And I'm sure you're gonna look great." Ash smiled causing her to blush.

"I'd take it, but I don't like pink either." Acerola talked. "Can you make a purple one for me, Miss Wicke? I could be 'The knight of wisdom! UltraPurple!"

"Maybe next time." Wicke sighed. "Please Bea, are you in?"

"Well, if it's to save the world." Bea sighed and put on the brace in her wrist. "Here goes...Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-0-0# Change!" Bea pressed the buttons and after a flash of pink light she was now wearing Lillie's Ultra Guardian uniform.

"The unstoppable sharpness! UltraPink!" She made her roll call matching the previous three.

"You look adorable." Nessa said.

"Let's just get this over with." Bea said walking to Ash.

"Guess all that's left is wishing you good luck." Wicke gave the quartet a thumbs up.

"Thanks, and all of you, please stay together." Ash looked at his girlfriends and they all caught Bea and him into a group hug.

"This isn't how I expected to spend my first day as your girlfriend." Acerola pouted to then laugh. "We'll be cheering for you from here!"

"Please be careful, you two." Nessa said. "I know you've been through this kind of things before, but I'm crazy worried."

"Call us if you need anything." Peonia added. "We'll find a way to help."

"I...I-I know I seemed excited earlier, but I'm really worried too." Gloria said. "I'd ask you to promise me that everything is going to be okay, but I know you so... Just do your best."

"Uh, I could use a hug too." Wicke looked at Sophocles and Kiawe with open arms, but the two took a few steps away from her. "How mean... either way, you heard what Stinger said about the signal that controls the Poke Balls, our Ultra Balls have been disabled, you'll have to face the Ultra Beasts directly, and unfortunately, the Ultra Guardians' ride Pokemon were all stored so you won't be able to use them either, is any of your Pokemon available?"

"Yes, Charizard was outside with me, he was helping me do the rounds." Kiawe said.

"I have my Vikavolt and Togedemaru." Sophocles added.

"Pikachu and my alolan team were resting outside luckily." Ash said.

"What about you, Bea?" Wicked asked.

"I'm afraid all my Pokemon were inside their Poke Balls when it happened." She answered

"Then I'll hand you some of mine, don't worry." Ash said. "Incineroar, Melmetal, you two are going with Bea, understood?" He asked and both Pokemon nodded.

"Thanks, Ash." Bea said.

"We'll still need some kind of transportation method." Kiawe said. "Out of all these Pokemon, my Charizard is the only one who's a reliable ride and I doubt he'll be able of taking us all."

"You can use the code 021* for that." Wicke told them and then walked to a giant screen. "Now let's see the situation. This diagram will show a red spot in each place the Ultra Beasts are attacking the region." She opened a map of the Alola region and, needless to say, the whole map was pretty much all red. "That will be a problem."

"There's too many of them!" Sophocles shouted.

"Then we better start now." Ash said. "But we need a plan."

"Should we split up to cover more ground?" Kiawe asked.

"No, I say we stick together, that way we could cover area by area completely." Ash said. "And we're still new with these suits, if we stay together we'll be there for each other in case something fails."

"Sounds good." Bea agreed.

"Let's do that then." Kiawe said.

"We'll follow your lead, Ash." Sophocles nodded.

"Great, now if you allow me, I'll give you a proper send off." Wicke cleared her throat. "These youths have sworn to protect every form of life! They are the Ultra Guardians!" She exclaimed while clapping and the group simply looked at her with dead stares.

"I feel like you're a bit too much into this." Nessa said.

"You think? I was gonna have a Robot assistant named Arthur, but I guess it was too much, or maybe my Rimbombee Seelon could help." Wicked laughed. "Anyway guys, since I'm the mentor why don't you all call me... Mysterious Sage Wicke?"

"We're not going to do that." Sophocles said and the rest of the group nodded.

"Well, good luck again." Wicked sighed. "You can communicate with me using the braces, I'll be assisting you from here if you any doubts."

The guardians nodded again and walked out of the base, going outside of the school where they met with Sophocles and Kiawe's Pokemon who were guarding the entrance.

"Alright, let's try what Wicke mentioned for our transport." Ash said. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-2-1* Cyber Slider!" Each of the braces expelled out a small piece of metal that materialized into four flying surfboards of their respective colors, each with a rocket on its tail.

"Well, let's go surfing then." Ash jumped onto his board along Pikachu, Rowlet and Lycanroc. Bea jumped into hers along Incineroar while Melmetal activated his jetpack. Kiawe took his surfboard as well and his Charizard took flight next to him, lastly, Sophocles got onto his board with a bit of difficulty, but his Vikavolt helped him to then sit on the board next to him and Togedemaru.

"None of you saw that." Sophocles said. "Where are we going first?"

"Let me do something first." Ash took his Rotom Phone and made a quick call. "Prof. Kukui, are you all okay?"

"Yes, Ash don't worry." He answered. "Burnet, Delia, Lei and me are all in the panic room, I suppose you'll take this matter in your own hands."

"I have to." Ash answered. "Please, take care."

"Of course, I'll call you if things escalate, but you can be sure I'll protect this three."

"Thank you." Ash smiled to then cut the call, he then tried to call Mallow, but she still didnt answer so he sighed and then looked at the team. "Fine, let's get higher, we need a clearer view of everything."

"Yeah, about that...how do we even ride these things?" Bea asked.

After a few explanations from Wicke, the group took flight in the boards, stopping at roughly 1 kilometer of height, from where they could see most of the Melemele island.

"Let's see..." Bea took a moment to look at the list of codes that Wicke gave them. "Let's try 010*."

"Got it." Ash answered. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-1-0* Shut Goggles!" A pair of technologic goggles suddenly materialized in the hand of our heroes and each of them put them on to then zoom their visions down on the island.

"They're literally everywhere." Kiawe said looking around. "Celeestela, Xurkitree, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Blacephalon, there's dozens of each of them wrecking havoc on Melemele."

"And they're on the other islands as well." Sophocles added looking away with the goggles over his helmet

"Ash, I know what you said about clearing areas one by one, but there's too many of them." Bea said. "The other areas could be destroyed once we finish the first one."

"You're right." Ash sighed. "...Fine, we're splitting. Kiawe, go to Poni Island, Sophocles to Ula'Ula, Bea to Akala, I'm staying here in Melemele, after we're done we'll meet back here to go to Aether, remember to prioritize the safety of people and Pokemon before targeting the Ultra Beasts and if you need help call instantly to any or all of us, got it?"

"Understood." The three answered. Sophocles and Kiawe parted their ways on their boards, while Ash and Bea stayed looking at each for a moment.

"Hey, I'll be fine." Bea talked. "You don't need to put on that worried face, I've saved the world with you before."

"Yeah, of course you have." Ash smiled. "Please be careful."

"You too, because I have the feeling that you're going to end up doing something very stupid." She giggled.

"You know where Akala is, right?" Ash asked.

"Unlike you, I actually investigate the places I go while I travel. I'll be fine." Bea nodded. "I'd kiss you, but I don't want to fall off the flying board, so I guess we'll save it for later." Bea blew him a kiss and flew away in her board, Ash simply chuckled and was about to do the same, but a bell noise caught his attention, he then looked back to find Tapu Bulu floating next to him, Tapu Lele then appeared to Ash's right, Tapu Fini to his left; and finally Tapu Koko showed himself in front of Ash.

"Nice to see all of you." Ash said. "I suppose you're already aware of the situation, you're going to help us with this, right?" He asked and the four gods nodded. "Then we're counting on you, my friends and I will be fighting as well, each of them is going to an island, so please help them as well."

"Ash Ketchum..." Tapu Koko floated closer to him. "E hōʻike iā lākou i kou ʻuhane!"

"Roger that." Ash nodded. The other tree Tapus then returned to their islands to fight back the Ultra Beasts, while Tapu Koko decided to stay with Ash.

Meanwhile with Bea.

Shortly after making it to to Akala Island, Bea found herself in the middle of the Pikachu Valley, which was being attacked by a group of Xurkitree that were absorbing the electricity of the Pikachu causing them to faint.

"Hey you! Leave my friends alone!" A girl in a Pikachu dress shouted at one of the Xurkitree who had just ended draining a Pikachu, the Ultra Beast then tossed the Pikachu away and pointed its charged arms at the girl.

"This is where our mission really starts." Bea sped up the board and jumped out of it along Incineroar letting it crash onto the Xurkitree that was about to attack the girl, Bea and Incineroar then landed in front of her while Melmetal landed next to them with his backpack, but the three gained the attention of the Xurkitree who quickly began to run towards them.

"Hey, you okay?" Bea asked the girl.

"Uh, yes, but-"

"Z-Mode Brace!" Bea interrupted to concentrate on the fight.

"0-3-3* Chanbara!" A metallic paint brush suddenly materialized on Bea's hand.

"Chanbara?" Bea asked.

"Oh, that is a good one!" Wicke told her by the communicator of the brace. "Tell me, do you know japanese?"

"Uh, yes?" Bea answered.

"Then draw a basic element kanji in the air. The brush will generate it!"

"Oddly specific, but I can work with that. Let's give it a try then!" Bea quickly drew a red 火 symbol in the air with the brush, the symbol quickly turned inro flames and she then summoned her blue sword and slashed the symbol, setting the sword in fire. "Game on, you stinky space bugs!" She shouted at the Xurkitree as Melmetal and Incineroar ran with her to attack them.

"Wow, that sword looks really cool." Gloria said watching the fight back in the base.

"Uh, that's not one of the perks of the brace though." Wicke said confused.

Back to the action, Bea was slashing her way through the Xurkitree, knocking them out one by one, while Incineroar helped her with some Fire Punches and Melmetal used his Double Iron Bash. Meanwhile, the girl thy had just saved stayed behind trying to pick up some of the fainted Pikachu, but she was quickly targeted by another Xurkitree so Bea ran to help her again.

"No, you're not! Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-1-9* Star Knuckle!" A red glowing star appeared on Bea's hand and he closed it into a fist to then send the Xurkitree flying away with an explosive punch.

"Wow, that was crazy!" Bea said excited looking at her fist. "Hey Miss Wicke, after the invasion is over, can I keep this stuff?"

"That is proprietary Aether Paradise property, Bea." Wicke answered.

"Sooo... that's a maybe?" Bea giggled to then look back at the girl that she had just saved for the second time. "I'm gonna ask again, you okay?"

"No, I'm not!" She exclaimed. "It was going to be another perfect day and suddenly those monsters come around and destroy my home! I'm so stressed that I can't even follow my Pika-rule!"

"Pika-rule?" Bea asked. "...Oh! You're Pikala, right? I mean, the dress kinda gave it away."

"The one and only!" She answered. "Who might you be?"

"My name is Bea, my...uh, my friend Ash told me about you." She answered unsure of how to explain their situation to an stranger.

"Ash told you about me?" She asked. "My, he's such a dream, what did he say?"

"Well, he mentioned you were a bit of a weirdo." Bea answered burning down Pikala's smile.

"Sigh, just end up beating these guys and get out of here." Pikala said.

"Of course, leave it to me!" Bea tossed her still burning sword onto a Xurkitree that was approaching them to then knock it down with a straight kick, she then looked around and saw how Incineroar and Melmetal were defeating the rest of the Xurkitree without much struggle. "Pfft, I think that Obstagoon was tougher than these guys, what was Ash so worried about?"

"Enough!" A voice echoed and the clouds above the valley suddenly began to spin in circle, a grey lightning then descended from the skies, landing right in front of Bea and the Pokemon, the electricity of the lightning then traveled to the Xurkitree's body revitalizing them, but they all scattered and the lightning then exploded to reveal a Zeraora with green skin and silver fur.

"Hmm...you must be one of those Ultra Guardians we were warned about." The Zeraora talked to Bea.

"And I suppose you're a member of the Lightbane." Bea talked unfazed.

"My name is Special Duty Officer Jiélā'àolā." He answered "I'm the second in command of this invasion."

"I guess I'll just call you Zeraora because there's no way I can pronounce that." Bea said.

"You managed to defeat my underlings, not something everyone can do." Zeraora talked. "But they're nowhere near my level, I'm here now, so I suggest you to surrender."

"And I suggest you to get out of my world." Bea answered. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-0-4* Electro Punch!" Bea's gloves were covered in a electrified metal as she let her sword vanish to then take her usual fighting position.

"You've just made a big mistake." The shiny Zeraora told her charging his Plasma Fists.

"We'll see about that." Bea smirked. "Incineroar, Melmetal! Leave this guy to me! Take down those Xurkitree again, don't let them escape!" She told them and the two obeyed.

"Seriously? You were already at bad odds with your friends by your side, this is just straight up suici-!" He was interrupted by a straight punch from Bea right on his face. "You... Punched me?"

"Yeah, what did you expect me to do?" Bea asked and began to throw a quick barrage of punches left and right, while the Zeraora struggled to keep up her pace.

"I'll admit, you're not like other beings I have-" He was once again interrupted by a punch, this time one aimed to his throat. "T-That's not fair!"

"Invading my earth is not fair!" Bea shouted with a quick double jab that knocked down Zeraora.

"How can a weak human like you defeat me?!" Zeraora scoffed releasing a strong thunderbolt, but Bea blocked it with the metallic gloves that cancelled out the attack with their own electricity.

"If I was weak I wouldn't be beating you, now would I?" Bea asked.

The Zeraora then roared and jumped at her with Plasma Fists again, but Bea blocked his hits to then held him by his neck with one hand and land a strong uppercut with the other sending Zeraora up to the skies and then to the ground.

"This can't be-"

"You talk too much." Bea interrupted. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-0-6# G-Ribbon!" A long pink ribbon appeared on Bea's hand and she tossed it to the Zeraora, the ribbon then wrapped itself around him and created a small gravitational field that pulled him down and prevented him from moving.

"Looks like I've won." Bea smiled.

"You don't understand what's going on, human!" Zeraora shouted. "You're simply postponing the inevitable, the Lightbane have conquered countless worlds, they cannot be defeated...I know it well."

"Well, as the second-in-command I supposed you'd say something like that." She answered.

"It's not just because of that...The Lightbane also invaded my world." He admitted. "They burned it to cinders because we resisted, it's just a matter of time before yours ends up just like that, no one can withstand them for long."

"If it's true that they destroyed your world then why do you work for them now?" Bea asked.

"Why do you think I'd tell you?" Zeraora asked.

"Well, I just defeated you in a battle, don't you aliens have some kind of honor code?" Bea asked.

"...I really doubt you'll get me out of here so I suppose I lose nothing in explaining..." The Zeraora sighed. "807 years ago, the Lightbane invaded my earth, I, alongside every human and Pokemon in my planet tried to fight them back, but the Ultra Beasts were too powerful, there was nothing to be done, we planted a resistance for weeks, but they kept crushing us... I was the last survivor of my whole planet, but Stinger offered me a deal, he'd forgive my life if I joined them, he told me I was an incredible warrior despite my futile resistance."

"And you just accepted?!" Bea shouted. "Those things destroyed your home and killed everyone there! Your friends and family, and you decided to willingly join them to help them keep doing that to more planets?!"

"I had nothing else to fight for after all... the people and Pokemon of my earth venerated me, I was the brave thundering hero... but when everything was gone, an honorable death would have been pointless."

"How could you do something like that?!" Bea shouted again. "Venerated? You say you used to be a hero?! That isn't about fame! Is about helping people!"

"And there was no one else to help." Zeraora answered. "...At least now I continue to live my life serving a greater purpose."

"Destroying lives is not a purpose and much less a life."

"What would you know?" Zeraora answered looking away.

Bea was about to keep answering, but she heard how her Rotom Phone suddenly showed static again, so she took it out of her pocket to see it.

"I'm losing my patience humans." Stinger showed himself in every screen of Alola again. "I see that both your gods and guardians have chosen to resist, they will face the consequences, just like all of you, so I suppose you can thank them for that, maybe that way you'll understand this planet isn't worth saving."

"God, that feels awful." Bea's Rotom Phone said after the transmission ended.

Back in Melemele.

"That guy again..." Ash trailed off after the transmission was cut while his Pokemon and him were fighting against a horde of Buzzwole. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-2-4# Freeze Compression!" Ash's brace shot an icy arrow that froze many Buzzwole into a chunk of ice once it hit them.

"Hmm...Tapu Koko, can you hold the fort for a second?" He asked and the god nodded. "Thanks, Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-1-8* Kakure!" A small white ball appeared on Ash's hand and he tossed to the ground creating a smoke screen for him and his Pokemon to escape while Tapu Koko continued to fight the Buzzwole.

"Miss Wicke, can you hear me?" Ash talked to the communicator in the brace from another spot.

"Yes Ash, I'm right here." She answered.

"Stinger is sending those messages from Aether, right?"

"Yes, he seems to be in Lusamime's office." Wicked sighed. "I've been trying to block his signal, no such luck, unfortunately."

"Listen, can you do something similar to what he's doing then?" Ash asked.

"How so?" Wicke asked.

"I'd like to give a message to the people of Alola, can you help me with that?"

"Of course Ash, give me a second...there, they have completely hacked the video signals, but we can do a radio broadcast, is that okay?"

"That's more than enough." Ash answered.

"Whenever you're ready then." Wicked prepared the transmission and Ash took a deep breath before talking.

"People of Alola, my name is Ash Ketchum, I'm gonna suppose most of you know who I am, I returned to this region recently and I'm currently taking my spot as a member of the Ultra Guardians to protect Alola from this invasion, and the Tapus are helping us too, I've been in many situations like this before, but I have to admit this one seems like too much... I know that some of you are afraid. It's alright. It's perfectly natural, but I'll tell you something, if you're listening to this, you are the resistance, you can help us defend our home, so I don't want you to listen to what these monsters are saying, our world is worth fighting for, to anyone who has a Pokemon outside with them, I'm asking you to take a stand with us to help the people who can't fight right now, but above all, stay safe, you have no idea how important you are. So, rise up, people of Alola, for the land we live in. We need all the Ohana to fight back!"

"Right behind you, brother." Elaine and her Pikachu prepared themselves along Mina and her Granbull.

"Let's show those Ultra Beasts you don't mess with the Ohana." The painter nodded.

"Now that's my Ash." Selene smiled looking at her Decidueye.

"If you're going out then when help you as well." Her twin Elio told her along his Primarina.

"You can count me and Toucannon too." Kahili said.

"Someone still has the gift of word." Gary smirked. "What do you say, Leaf?"

"I say that if we're going to fall..." She adjusted her hat and smiled. "We better fall falling."

"So the Ultra Guardians are back in business." A girl smirked adjusting her sunglasses to then look at her Alolan Sandslash and Froslass. "Welp, I hanged my cape some time ago, but helping won't hurt anyone. Let's do it just like in Kalos."

"Well, you heard the champion, everyone." Guzma looked at Plumeria and his grunts. "I want you to go outside and fight off those bugs, we can't take control of the islands if there are no islands left, right?"

"YEAH!" They shouted in unison.

"Fighting back, huh? WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU THINK I'M DOING, KETCHUM?!" Hapu shouted while her Mudsdale and Golurk defended her farm from a troop of Guzzlord.

"I hope that works... thank you, Miss Wicke." Ash sighed and then received a call on his Rotom Phone, quickly answering once he saw the person calling. "Mallow! I'm so glad you're calling me! Where are you? Is Lana with you?"

"Y-Yes, Ash, I... We heard your message, we're at Oranguru's place, please, the Ultra Beasts are surrounding us, they're trying to get in, you have to help us." She talked.

"I'm on my way!" Ash nodded calling his flying surfboard again.

Meanwhile with Kiawe and Sophocles.

"You know? When you called me asking for help, this isn't really what I expected." Kiawe said.

"Yeah, my bad, should have been more specific." Sophocles answered.

The two friends were back to back surrounded from every side by dozens of Celesteela, Pheromosa, Stakataka and Kartana that had already defeated their Charizard and Vikavolt.

"So this is my place to die..." Kiawe chuckled.

"Not helping!" Sophocles answered.

"Right, were not going to give up yet." Kiawe shouted. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-2-2* Mane of flames!" Kiawe put his hands together and a blast of fire came from them, impacting some of the Kartana.

"Nice! What else can these things do? Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-0-5# Vulcan Ball!" This time Kiawe raised his hand in the air and a giant ball of fire appeared above them, he then tossed it to the Celesteela and the ball exploded knocking out some of them.

"Let me try then." Sophocles said. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-3-4# Windrive!" The brace summoned what appeared to be a card and Sophocles tossed it creating a tornado that pushed away most of the Pheromosa.

"Another one! Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-0-2# Wildcard!" A package of playing cards appeared on Kiawe's hands so he opened it and tossed them all to the Stakataka, but all the cards simply fell to the ground without doing anything.

"...Why did nothing happen?" Kiawe asked.

"Well, that was just a package of cards." Wicke told them from the communicator.

"Seriously? Just cards? Not even Cyborg cards? They don't explode or anything?" Kiawe asked.

"Nope, those are just normal cards."

"And why are they even an option?!" Kiawe shouted.

"It was just in case you could get bored." Wicke laughed. "Have some imaginaaaation!"

"How are we going to get bored in the middle of an alien invasion?!" Kiawe shouted.

"Never mind that." Sophocles sighed. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-3-0# Sagasniper!" A metal detector materialized on Sophocles' hand and he pointed it at the Pheromosa, but nothing happened either.

"Please tell me this thing shoots lasers or something." Sophocles said.

"Sorry, it's just a metal detector." Wicked answered.

"Why would we ever need something like that in this situation?!" Sophocles shouted.

"And even if we needed it why does it have sniper on its name?!" Kiawe shouted.

"Look out!" Sophocles warned him as a Stakataka jumped and was about to land on top of them.

"Z-Mode Brace!" A voice called from above.

"0-0-8# Super Sky Diving!"

Sophocles and Kiawe looked as a black figure descended from the skies at mach speed and dashed right through the Stakataka smashing it into pieces, the figure then landed in front of them wearing a black Ultra Guardian suit with its helmet on.

"What the-"

"Unbreakable body! UltraBlack-Knight!" He shouted with a pose. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-0-7* Black Bushin!" The new hero made a series of hand signs and his body separated in various copies similar to the move Double Team, all the copies began to attack the beasts, forcing them to scatter away, after that, each one of the copies disappeared and the black warrior knelt exhausted.

"Are... you two okay?" He asked.

"...Gladion?" Sophocles asked as he nodded to take off his helmet.

"Happy I could make it in time." Gladion told them.

"Dude, we are so happy to see you!" Kiawe exclaimed trying to go for a hug but Gladion moved away to avoid it.

"Lillie told us you separated from Lusamine and her to look for Mohn." Sophocles said. "Where have you been?"

"I've been working for an organization that investigates Legendary Pokemon." Gladion answered. "I've been making my own researches and well, once we were told about what was happening here of course I offered myself to come."

"Your help is welcome." Kiawe said. "But if that organization knew what was going on, why did they send just you?"

"I'm afraid said organization has been really busy lately." Gladion answered. "Our reports show a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum, timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting, and it seems like Team Rocket is in the middle of all it, but don't worry, a more experienced agent accompanied me, I'm sure she'll be of great help, we also brought an old friend with us, they're on her way to Aether right now."

"I hope you can help us then..." Kiawe said. "By the way, did you call yourself Ultra BlackKnight during your roll call?"

"Yes, why?" Gladion asked.

"I mean, why not just the color?" Kiawe asked.

"To identify myself better obviously." Gladion answered.

"Or just to make it sound edgier?" Sophocles asked.

"I'M NOT EDGY!" Gladion shouted.

Back with Ash.

Our hero wasted no time and he quickly made it to Oranguru's place which was being attacked from outside by many Blacephalon.

"Let's do this, Lycanroc!" Ash put on his Z-ring along the Lycanium-Z and his Lycanroc and him got in sync as many rocks rose from the ground and floated around them. "Splintered Stormshards!" Ash shouted and Lycanroc jumped out of the board falling along the rocks that crashed like meteors knocking out most of the Blacephalon. Rowlet and Pikachu then jumped out with a Brave Bird and a Surf to knock out the remaining ones and Ash quickly descended to the bar once the coast was clear, he was about to force the door open, but this was opened by Oranguru before he could do so.

"Nice to see you, is everyone okay?" He asked and Oranguru nodded.

"ASH!" Mallow and Lana ran to him and caught him in a hug.

"G-Girls! I'm so glad you're safe." He answered hugging the two.

"Thank you for coming." Lana said. "We left our Pokemon at home so there wasn't much we could do."

"A-Ash, I'm sorry about what I said." Mallow stuttered.

"Mallow, it's fine, I suppose it was a lot to digest at once." Ash answered.

"I-It's not that, Ash." Mallow stuttered. "I was...I-I was being so stupid, I thought you replaced us with those girls."

"Mallow, there's no way I'd ever 'replace' any of you, like, how could I even do that?" He asked with a smile. "You're all so unique and special on your way, that's something impossible to match."

"You really mean it?" Mallow asked.

"Of course." Ash nodded. " So don't you ever forget that."

"Ash, I... I want to be your girlfriend too." Mallow admitted trembling. "What I said back in the hospital, I didn't mean it at all, I was...I was just jealous of your girlfriends... because we were going to ask you to do just that."

"We?" Ash asked.

"We, Ash." Lana called him. "Mallow, Lillie and I were waiting for you to come back to Alola so we could tell you that... That we all fell in love with you, we wanted to share you, we all wanted to be your girlfriends."

"But then you returned and we found out you already were in that kind of relationship." Mallow continued separating from them. "I guess I blacked out and... to be honest, Ash, I'm still not sure if I'd be able to share you with all those girls, but-" Mallow stopped once Lana took one of her hands.

"But we'll give it a try." Lana smiled breaking from the hug to take one of Ash's hands as well. "Both of us."

"Mallow..." Ash offered his free hand to her. "I'm not going to lie, it could be difficult, but if you're willing to give it a try then I am too... are you sure you want to do this?"

"Y-Yes..." Mallow answered taking his hand. "S-So... this what they call a love triangle, huh?" She laughed weakly as she shed some tears, Lana then gave her a hug while they still had their hands joined with Ash and the two girls then looked at him and hugged him together again, but tighter than last time.

"Well, Mallow how is it?" Lana asked her.

"I want this...I want to stay like this, with him and you too." She answered to then look firmly at Ash. "I want you."

"And I want this too." Lana answered. "I want to be by your side, Ash, and if Mallow is with us too, it'll be even better."

"Ash Ketchum, do you want us to be your girlfriends?" Mallow asked as they both looked at him.

"Of course I want to." A blushing Ash hugged them tighter as well.

"Then I'll let you 'catch' me." Lana winked.

"Uh, s-sure! Me too!" Mallow nodded vigorously. The two girls then closed their eyes and tried to kiss Ash's lips at the same time, but they ended up exactly in the same spot and their three lips met together. Ash, Mallow and Lana stood there for a moment and then separated slowly blushing like hell as they looked at each other. While Lycanroc and Rowlet were surprised by the whole scene, but mostly happy for Ash, and Pikachu just sighed.

"S-Sorry, we should have looked what we were doing." Mallow apologized embarrassed.

"D-Don't worry, that felt... interesting." Ash answered embarrassed as well. "New sensation and all that, I guess."

"Wait, you've never had a three-way kiss before?!" Mallow exclaimed.

"Uh, no-"

"B-But you have four girlfriends!" Mallow exclaimed.

"That's five actually." Ash corrected.

"Five?!" Mallow shouted. "Don't tell me, Acerola?" she asked and Ash nodded.

"That goddamn Purrloin face really got ahead of us." Mallow sighed. "But I'll do my best to get along with her and the rest of the girls, I promise."

"Maybe we could have the three-way kiss with tongue next time." Lana said causing Mallow and Ash to blush harder as they looked at her. "What? I actually liked it."

"You don't have to be so blunt all the time." Mallow tried to ignore the commentary and caressed Ash's cheeks to then plant another lip kiss by herself. "T-There... one of my own, just for the record."

"And I'm here as well, of course." Lana got on her toes to give Ash a kiss on her own as well.

"T-Thank you..." Ash stuttered.

"Pfft, why are you getting so embarrassed?" Lana laughed.

"Yeah, you'd think that with five girlfriends kissing is no big deal to you." Mallow took one of his arms and pressed her breasts on him. "I-I bet you do lots of things with them."

"Kissing my girls always gets me a little... eh, I don't if embarrassed is the word."

"Then what is it?" Mallow landed another kiss on his lips and moved Ash's hands to her hips. "I've been waiting for quite some time to do this."

"Don't get so frisky while I'm here." Lana laughed and was about to join them, but a sudden explosion brought down the front wall of the bar as well as their moment.

"Oh right, Ultra Beast invasion." Lana said.

"What a bunch of mood killers!" Mallow complained. "But I also feel like we're forgetting something else..."

"I wonder how is everyone in Alola." Lillie said to herself while enjoying a 'day without technology' as her mother called it.

Back in Alola.

"We can think about it later, I need your help." Ash showed the two girls their braces. "Wicke told me you already practiced with this, can I count on you?"

Mallow and Lana looked at each other and nodded to then take the devices. "Z-Mode brace!"

"0-0-0# Change!"

"Champion of the forest! UltraGreen!" Mallow shouted with her pose.

"Water dancing, Waves rippling! I'm UltraCyan!" Lana added and the three walked out of the bar together to find that the Blacephalon were back on their feet again.

"These guys are far more persistent than the one we met before." Ash said.

"We'll be taking the first hit." Lana said.

"If you don't mind, of course." Mallow added with a wink.

"Z-Mode Brace!" The girls shouted together.

"0-2-9# Green Ground!"

"0-2-9* Blue Splash!"

Mallow planted the palm of her hands in the floor and many long vines rose from it, the vines then picked up many rocks from the ground and used them to act as flails knocking most of the Blacephalon, meanwhile Lana placed her hands in the floor as well, summoning a barrage of exploding geysers from the ground defeating the remaining ones, however, once every Blacephalon was down, a loud scream was heard and a Guzzled entered the scene roaring.

"Leave this one to me." Ash said. "Z-Mode Brace!"

"0-1-1* Aura Power!"

"Now we're talking!" Ash exclaimed as red energy surged from his whole body all at once, an Aura Sphere then formed in front of him and he punched it with all his strength, leading it to explode onto the Guzzlord and almost knock him down, but the Beast managed to stay on his feet, Ash was about to use the same attack once more, but two purple rays descended from the skies and defeated the Guzzlord for good.

"Hope you don't mind us intervening." A feminine voice talked from above.

"Naganadel!" Lana and Mallow exclaimed seeing his silhouette from afar.

"Naganadel..." Ash trailed off and as the Pokemon got closer he noticed that Naganadel was carrying someone on his back. "Danika?!"

"Hello there!" She waved at them to then jumped out of Naganadel's back and land in front of the trio. "Or Alola, I guess. Thanks for the ride, Naganadel."

"No problem, Asahi." Naganadel answered.

"It's Danika!" She complained. "Why can't you get it right?!"

"Uh, sorry..." Naganadel chuckled. "Hi there, Mallow, Lana, Ash."

"Did your Naganadel just talk?" Lana asked.

"I guess so..." Ash answered.

"I have too many questions." Mallow said.

"Well, short answer, we're here to help." Danika answered.

"How did you even met with Naganadel?" Ash asked.

"Things have turned almost ridiculously complicated since last time we met." Danika explained. "Time, space, matter itself, it all seems to be crumbling down, and we don't know know the exact reason, but it seems like Team Rocket has something to do with it."

"Those effects have also been felt in my world." Naganadel added. "The Lightbane are enemies of my colony and a spy of us told us they were planning an attack to your earth. I tried to get here through an Ultra Wormhole to warn you, but I couldn't get the correct coordinates."

"He ended up in Sinnoh yesterday." Danika talked again. "Most specifically in Mt. Coronet, very close to the base of operations of my organization and he explained us the situation."

"Yeah, it was more or less like this."

Yesterday.

"Stinger..." Naganadel said weakly after being damaged during the travel. "Stinger is coming..."

"...Who?" Danika asked.

"And since I knew you were in Alola, I decided to bring him to you personally along another agent." Danika continued. "But it seems like the invasion made it here before we could warn you."

"Well, thank you for coming." Ash said. "But since when can you talk, Naganadel?"

"The leader of our colony could do the same, remember?" Naganadel asked and the alolan group nodded. "There, it's nothing weird, something that comes with the age for my species."

"Ash, I'm going to Aether to put an end to this head-on." Danika said. "You coming with me?"

"You bet." Ash nodded, but their devices' screens were once again surrounded by static to then show Stinger.

"Listen up humans, I have one more message to you." Stinger talked. "...I've got to be honest, you've put up a pretty good fight... for a race as primitive as yours, that is. And even though we could easily wipe you out, I'm willing to strike a little bargain, I'll call off this whole invasion if SM-55-994 and Ash Ketchum defeat me in single combat! ...That's it, no gimmicks, two lives for millions. I know you're hearing this message, Ash, and I know SM is with you, so I'll be waiting for you two in the rooftop of Aether paradise, you have 10 minutes to show up." He ended talking and the transmission was cut.

"...SM-55-994?" Ash looked at his Naganadel who simply nodded.

"Yes, that's kinda my serial code." He answered.

"I see... but if he's asking us to go together, does he knows who I am?" Ash asked.

"The tales of your journeys travel way farther thank you think, Ash." Naganadel answered. "But I'd be more than happy to make a new chapter of that journey with you."

"Same goes for me, Naganadel." Ash said.

"That's a trap for sure though." Mallow told them.

"But you're going anyway, aren't you?" Lana asked.

"You better don't doubt it." Ash smiled and they both hugged him again.

"Then you better kick his big stupid butt!" Lana said.

"Couldn't have said it better myself." Mallow added.

"You two stay safe." Ash said.

"Don't count on it, you already gave us these suits." Mallow answered. "We'll help fight off those creeps until you defeat Stinger."

"Just be careful." Ash told them to then receive a kiss on each cheek from the two.

"You too, boyfriend." Mallow said.

"Yeah, Harper, Sarah and Mom will be very happy with all this, boyfriend." Lana called him as well.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Danika shouted. "You're dating these two girls?!"

"I'll explain you on the way." Ash said.

"Uh, right, one more thing, Ash." Naganadel approached him. "If we're going to fight him together then I suppose it's the right moment to show you this." Naganadel then opened one of his claws to show a purple Z-Crystal that had what appeared to be the silhouette of a blue hour hourglass inside of it."

"You have your own Z-Crystal?!" Ash, Mallow and Lana shouted together.

"Yup." Naganadel answered proudly. "I mean, it belonged to the colony, but they handed it over to me considering the situation, still, I'm not sure about what the move does."

"Well, this seems like the perfect time to test it out." Ash said. "Pikachu, Lycanroc, Rowlet, please stay with Mallow and Lana." He told them and the trio Pokemon nodded.

"Danika, Naganadel, it's time to end this!"

Meanwhile in Aether.

"Of course he would accept." Domino said to herself in the security room after watching the scene with Ash and Naganadel through a hidden camera, she then kept checking the video records of Ash's movements during the whole day and ended up watching the moment when and his girlfriends entered the Pokemon School. "He left later with one of the girls and those guys so the rest of the girls must be still in the school... Well, Ketchum, hope you don't mind I make a visit while you're busy with Stinger, It'll be great to meet your other friends."
