Pokémon Court

Chapter 49: Snowpoint City

Sinnoh region has many unique landmarks.

They include tourist attractions like Hotel Grand Lake and Amity Square, as well as natural wonders like the Four Great Lakes and the lush and deep Eterna Forest. But without a doubt, the central landmark of Sinnoh region is Mt. Coronet. Standing in the middle of Sinnoh, extending from the barren lands in the north to the end of the mainland in the south, Mt. Coronet divides the entire Sinnoh region in two.

Snowpoint City.

Known as the “City of snow and glittering ice,” it is covered in snow throughout the year, thanks to the snowfall from the peak of Mt. Coronet, which keeps the temperature low.

Outside the Pokémon Center, a young boy exhaled white breath, his head almost retracting into his neck, his body trembling incessantly.

“I was careless.”

“I actually forgot about the weather of Mt. Coronet…”

The boy with brown hair was wearing only a shirt, completely out of place among the people around him who were bundled up in thick clothes. This instantly darkened his expression.

“Master Victor… didn’t even remind me.”

Terrance felt despair!

After arriving in Sinnoh, his second stop was Snowpoint City.

Crown Academy is located in the northern part of Mt. Coronet, an area with sparse population, with Snowpoint City being the main region.

Due to the snow blowing down from the peak of Mt. Coronet, the northern region is not only cold, but the roads leading north are also particularly treacherous.

The academy was quite a distance from Snowpoint City, and Terrance, holding a map, looked at the circled position on it and let out a long sigh.

“What a disaster…”

“Swablu and Beautifly, these two don’t even want to come out now. They’re hiding in their Poké Balls.”

The difference in weather between Snowpoint City and the Hoenn region is quite evident, and both Swablu and Beautifly dislike the icy environment.

Terrance comforted himself; he will allow them to be willful for two days. Once they arrive at Crown Academy, no matter how cold it is, they must come out and do some training.

Flying-type Swablu and Beautifly must overcome this major obstacle of “ice”.

Terrance walked through Snowpoint City, trembling with cold.

He has to leave immediately and reach Crown Academy before nightfall, or else he suspects he might freeze to death on the way.

As Terrance passed by a clothing store, he glanced through the glass and his mouth watered at the sight of the fluffy cotton clothes hanging up.

Terrance, a young and promising Junior Breeder, is now facing a major crisis…

Having lived in the warm southern region of the Hoenn mainland for years, Terrance was taken aback when he arrived in Sinnoh and realized that none of the clothes he had packed were suitable for this weather.

“This is too much.”

“Too much?”

“Hmm… Huh?”

Terrance’s eyebrows twitched as he realized that the voice just now didn’t sound like an echo… but a… female voice?

Turning around, Terrance saw a girl standing behind him, around the same age, wearing a skirt and short sleeves.

“Are you a Trainer from outside? Are you facing any difficulties?” The girl looked friendly, staring at Terrance with pure eyes.

“Well…”

Terrance’s mouth twitched as he looked at the youthful and energetic girl in a short skirt, but he held back his words of “I’m cold.”

“It’s nothing.” Terrance fell silent and said.

“By the way, your scarf is so cute. Hey, hey, where did you buy it?” Suddenly, the girl put her hands on Terrance’s shoulders, her eyes sparkling as she looked at his scarf.

“…”

Terrance was startled, and cold sweat ran down his face.

“It was given to me by my grandmother.” Awkwardly smiling, Terrance pushed the girl away.

“Your grandmother? Did she make it herself? It’s so cute…”

How is it cute…

Glancing at the light yellow scarf, it’s the only thing Terrance could find to keep himself warm, although it’s warm… he couldn’t find anything cute about it.

Seemingly sensing Terrance’s helplessness, the girl paused for a moment, then smiled and said, “Sorry about that. Are you a Trainer?”

“You want to battle?” Terrance asked.

“Of course! It’s rare for Trainers to come to Snowpoint City. I haven’t battled an unfamiliar Trainer in a long time~~”

“That’s quite pitiful,” Terrance said.

“Oh~ So you agree?!”

“No, I refuse. I’m in a hurry. Maybe we’ll meet again if fate allows.” Adjusting his scarf, Terrance exhaled a breath of cold air, and lazily walked past the girl.

“Hey, don’t go! I’m Candice, the Gym Leader of the Snowpoint Gym. Don’t you want to challenge the Snowpoint Gym?” The girl named Candice quickly spoke after seeing Terrance’s disregard.

Terrance stopped.

“You’re a Gym Trainer?”

He was doubtful. This Candice wasn’t even 10 years old. Even if they wouldn’t intentionally make it difficult for challengers, the Gym’s casual attitude seems questionable.

“Well… not yet, but I will become a Gym Trainer eventually!” Candice hesitated for a moment, then says firmly.

“…”

Terrance resumed walking.

“Hey… don’t be so heartless. Let’s battle. How can a Trainer refuse a challenge? Even if you have somewhere to go, you can leave after the battle.”

Terrance had to admit that she has a point.

“Compared to Little June, this one really seems like a 10-year-old girl.”

Sigh…

“I’m in a hurry. We can battle next time.”

“Come on~ Heading south…even if you’re pretending to go somewhere, you should at least find the right direction first.”

To the south of Snowpoint City lies Mt. Coronet, which is covered in accumulated snow for years.

Even if he wants to leave Snowpoint City, going south is definitely not the way.

“I’m going to school.” Uttering these slightly peculiar words, Terrance suddenly felt a lot younger.

Going to school…. on Earth, he would still be a primary school student at this age!

But in this world, human beings grow up quickly in general, and even children mature much earlier than on Earth.

“School? In that direction, are you going to Crown Academy?” Candice was taken aback, her eyes widening in surprise.

“But Crown Academy’s school term has already started. Hey!”

After saying that, she continued to stare at Terrance with a puzzled expression.

“You know about Crown Academy…” Didn’t Master Victor say that Crown Academy has been in decline for a long time, and not many people know about it anymore?

“Of course!” Candice wore a smug expression. “Got it, if you’re going to Crown Academy, the road is going to be bad. But if you win against me in a battle, I’ll tell you a shortcut!”

“A battle, huh? Fine. Where shall we do it?”

In the end, Terrance followed Candice as if it were the expected course of action.

To make it easier to reach his destination, it’s good to warm up with a battle first.

As they walked ahead, Candice was filled with joy. “It’s right up ahead, Pokémon Trainer’s School. There’s a battle arena there.”

“A school?”

“Yeah, it’s responsible for teaching the knowledge about Trainers to the kids in the city.”

Terrance stared at the distant building, feeling a bit stunned. “Doing something like that…”

Even in a city, there probably aren’t many families who support their children becoming Trainers. Establishing such a school would be completely thankless and challenging. However, Terrance remembered Fallarbor Town, which, compared to other towns or cities, was too remote and backward. Few Trainers had emerged from there, and even a Pokémon Center had not been established there yet.

If Fallarbor Town had a school like this, perhaps the current situation would be better?
