Chapter 349: Graduation and assessment

When discussing the matter of Gallade's ownership, the old dean sighed, "Did this happen again?"

There were many Pokémon at the academy without Trainers, which normally wasn't a big deal. However, these Pokémon interacted with the students frequently, which sometimes led to complications.

Situations where academy Pokémon formed bonds with students over time weren't rare anymore.

Handling such cases was rather troublesome. If all the academy's Pokémon were eventually taken by students, things would turn messy.

The dean fell silent, then said, "If that Gallade is willing to go with Terrance, let him tame it."

Everyone supported it.

Terrance wasn't an ordinary student, and Gallade would be in good hands with him. This was also a gesture of goodwill from the academy.

If Terrance decided to take Gallade, he would have no choice but to owe the academy a favor.

"I'll take care of this matter," said Teresa.

One of the Bug-type Pokémon that Terrance applied for has already hatched—Wurmple.

After capturing Wurmple with a new Poké Ball, he began considering how to raise it.

Raising a Bug-type Pokémon was simple, and Wurmple was especially straightforward.

With experience raising Beautifly, Terrance was quite adept at this.

Wurmple usually feeds on leaves and, when a bit older, can drink tree sap. But at Crown Academy, there was no shortage of nutritious food for the Wurmple.

Even Beautifly hadn't enjoyed such luxuries initially.

Tree sap is essentially water enriched with dissolved minerals and nutrients, so creating an even better diet for Wurmple was easy for Terrance.

This nutritious food would quickly allow Wurmple to gather enough energy to evolve.

The first Pokémon of the Bug-type Gym: Wurmple.

By now, Terrance had already received Teacher Teresa's message about Gallade.

However, he hadn't yet approached Gallade.

"Give it some time. Let it challenge the Tower of Confusion and the Tower of Despair, and once it reaches a level it's satisfied with, it will likely come to you on its own," Julian had said, shaking his head to stop Terrance from seeking out Gallade.

"I understand."

Terrance remained silent.

Gallade, seeing Terrance's outstanding performance after returning, leading five Pokémon to sweep through the Tower of Despair, seemed to be somewhat dissatisfied.

Especially after losing to Altaria, Gallade intensified its training even further.

Challenge!

Gallade began training harder and more diligently, continuously challenging the Tower of Confusion and the Tower of Despair during the time Terrance was challenging; it also didn't remain idle.

According to Teacher Julian, Gallade would only stop challenging and come to Terrance once it deemed itself worthy to follow him.

"Let it be."

As he tended to the recently hatched Wurmple, Terrance sighed, admiring Gallade's tenacity.

With its current strength, it was already ahead of most Pokémon.

"The academy has entrusted Gallade to me… I will ensure it finds its true purpose," Terrance resolved.

Gallade had now reached the 20th floor of the Tower of Despair.

Without Terrance's commands, Castform, who wasn't carrying Mystic Water and Damp Rock, was defeated.

However, faced with the Mismagius that followed, Gallade, relying solely on the simple moves Teleport and Slash, found itself in a tough battle and has yet to break through.

Even without Mismagius's endless illusions disrupting it, just locking onto Mismagius and hitting it with a Slash was a challenge for Gallade.

In the Tower of Confusion, Gallade had reached the 6th floor and continued to push forward.

"The Caterpie's Pokémon Egg is close to hatching as well, but I can't wait any longer."

Recalling Wurmple back into its Poké Ball, Terrance stood up and went to visit Teacher Forrest.

"I spent over half a month in Fallarbor Town, two months securing contracts with various companies, and more time at the academy… I've delayed for too long," Terrance said with a wry smile.

"If I stay another month, half a year will have passed since the Grand Festival ended."

"I just received the Gym assessment notice, so I have to leave now."

After explaining his purpose to Teacher Forrest, he agreed to handle it right away. Terrance had already submitted his graduation application before completing the trials and had also signed on his Gym application. Now that the official notification for the Gym assessment has been received, as soon as the academy verifies his status as a graduate, he will be ready to undertake the assessment.

The Gym Trainer assessment notice arrived sooner than expected, only a few days after he signed the paperwork. The academy's efficiency was indeed impressive.

Terrance didn't have time to dwell on it. Before leaving the academy, he had a long list of things to explain.

Only one of his eight Pokémon Eggs had hatched, with seven remaining unhatched, and he wouldn't have the time to care for these little ones.

For the Gym Trainer assessment, he had to go to Ever Grande City in Hoenn personally.

"I can ask Teacher Teresa to help with taking care of the newly hatched Pokémon, and Akon can look after them for a while afterward."

Terrance had used up all his credits. This huge amount of credits that can be exchanged for resources, Terrance had used them all on these eight Pokémon.

With abundant food and nutrients, they would grow under optimal conditions and build a solid foundation.

As for training, Terrance wasn't in a rush.

Wurmple, Caterpie, Weedle and Scatterbug could wait until they grow and evolve to their final stage before starting their specialized training. After all, they grow up too fast, so in the early stages, he just need to ensure they have enough nutrition.

Pineco, Spinarak, and Surskit take a bit longer to grow, so Akon just needs to feed them the appropriate food and nutrients regularly, as well as have them perform the most basic training.

For example, practice the accuracy of String Shot, learn how to wrap and pull things with String Shot - these are basic training exercises.

Terrance has already prepared a complete diet plan and basic training methods for these eight Pokémon. Akon doesn't need to put much effort into this, especially during the first half-month after the Pokémon hatch, when they don't need any training at all.

Simply feeding them food and nutrients is what Terrance is requesting Akon to do.

He's going for the assessment and can't take care of eight young Bug-type Pokémon at the same time.

Both Teacher Teresa and Akon readily agreed, allowing Terrance to prepare for the assessment with peace of mind. After they hatch, Teacher Teresa, as a professional, can handle some of the issues that newly hatched Pokémon face. Then, they can be entrusted to Akon's care.

With Terrance leaving, the Pokémon stationed in the Tower of Despair would naturally withdraw. However, Terrance was a bit concerned that, with Mismagius gone, Gallade may lose its target to pursue in the short term.

In order to defeat Mismagius, Gallade has been relentlessly training to master the use of Teleport to lock onto Pokémon.
