Pokémon: Ash's New Journey

Chapter 79: Destination Gardenia Town!

The little girl behind the chaos was named Luna, and she was the trainer of the so-called Red Lightning.

Bored with her solitary life, Luna, along with her Pokémon, invented the persona of Red Lightning. Equipping her Scizor with a small camera and loudspeaker, she remotely controlled it to pose as Red Lightning, challenging anyone in Commerce City with a Pokémon. Refusing wasn't an option—her Scizor would fire off a Hyper Beam to ensure compliance.

Currently, Luna sat atop her high-rise home, remotely directing Scizor.

Meanwhile, Ash's Charizard took to the skies without needing instruction. As Ash's strongest Pokémon, it had an exceptional ability to battle independently.

"Hyper Beam!"

Red Lightning launched a Hyper Beam, but Charizard effortlessly evaded it with a flap of its wings and prepared to counterattack with Flamethrower. Remembering Ash's earlier instruction to hold back, it switched to Fire Spin instead.

Red Lightning's speed was impressive, but Charizard was faster. With a significant level advantage, it overwhelmed the opponent.

"Swift!"

Red Lightning attempted to retaliate with Swift, but Charizard's Fire Spin encased it, reducing its red cape to ashes. Overwhelmed by Charizard's speed, Red Lightning let out a cry of frustration before disappearing into the wind, retreating before anyone could get a clear look.

"That was amazing, Charizard! You got revenge for us! If it hadn't run off, I'd have wanted to draw on its face in return!" Misty and May were thrilled with Charizard's swift victory.

"Roar!"

Charizard snorted nonchalantly, uninterested in battling such a low-level opponent.

"Alright, everyone, let's track down that Red Lightning. I think I know where it went," Ash said.

He climbed onto Charizard, called out Pidgeot for Misty and May to ride, and directed them to Commerce City's tallest building, the one Luna lived in according to his memory from the original storyline.

As expected, the disguised Scizor had returned to the rooftop of the building.

"Scizor, are you okay? Did the flames hurt you?" Luna anxiously checked her Pokémon.

Her parents were genius scientists but rarely spent time with her. For Luna, Scizor was her most important companion, irreplaceable even by her parents.

Scizor's injuries were minor, thanks to Charizard holding back.

"That Charizard was so strong. Scizor, we…" Luna started to speak but froze when she saw Charizard and Pidgeot landing on her rooftop.

"How did you get into my house?! Get out! You're not welcome here!" Luna shouted, trying to sound fierce but coming off adorably angry.

"You were right, Ash—Red Lightning is a Scizor! That thing on its neck must be the camera and speaker!"

"Hey, how can you go around causing mischief in the city? The Pokémon you've messed with, and the kids who own them, are really upset!" Misty and May scolded Luna, their anger boiling over.

At that moment, Luna's butler arrived, and she turned her frustration on him.

Through their discussion, Misty and May learned about Luna's loneliness, which immediately softened their hearts.

"Luna, so that's why you've been acting out? Being alone at home must be tough. I totally understand how you feel!" May said, holding her Squirtle and approaching Luna.

"Yeah, Luna, I've got three older sisters, but they never took me along when they went out. I was always stuck at home with my Pokémon as my only company," Misty added.

Their goal was clear: to convince Luna to leave home and start her own journey.

"My dad's a Gym Leader and always busy, so he didn't spend much time with us either," Misty continued.

The two girls shared their experiences of traveling with friends, seeing new places, and growing through their adventures.

"Even when we fail and feel disappointed, having companions around helps us bounce back and keep striving toward our goals. You can do it too, Luna!"

Moved by their words, Luna became intrigued. Her butler, too, was pleased—if Luna started traveling, her mischievous antics in the city would finally stop.

After introducing himself, Ash explained that he might need her parents' help in the future and asked for her support. Luna readily agreed; her parents were always indulgent with her requests.

Before leaving, the butler informed them that a Pokémon Contest would be held in Gardenia Town in two days, just ahead of Commerce City. Excited by the news, the group set off, gaining Luna's support for Ash's upcoming research on Mega Evolution and Dynamax.
