Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: An Unexpected Discovery

In a secluded corner near Lavender Town, a small, trembling figure hid within the bushes.

Not far from the shrubbery, a few Gastly that Ron was trying to capture floated aimlessly in the air, as if searching for something. Using their unique ethereal forms, the Gastly drifted in and out of sight, traversing different locations with ease.

Sensing the presence of the Gastly, the figure in the bushes trembled even more, trying desperately to suppress its shaking body to avoid being discovered by the Pokémon outside.

After a while, the naturally impatient Gastly stopped just a step away from the bush. Seemingly bored with their pursuit, they slowly disappeared into the air. Perhaps, to them, this chase was nothing more than a playful game, unworthy of serious effort.

Even after the Gastly left, the small figure remained motionless. Only after what felt like ten minutes did it shakily emerge from the safety of the shrubbery.

Its stomach growled loudly, the pangs of hunger drawing tears that quickly fell to the ground. Yet, the figure wiped them away, steeling itself.

Its parents were gone now. It had to survive—no matter what—and one day, avenge them.

Fueled by anger, the once-timid figure regained its courage and vanished into the distance.

In Lavender Town, Ron had been searching high and low but hadn't found anything worthwhile. While he wasn't too particular about ghost-type Pokémon, he still sought those with at least some degree of potential.

After all, as his Machoke and other Pokémon grew stronger, the opponents he faced would only get tougher. Ghost-types without sufficient ability would lose their protective edge.

Unfortunately, the ghost Pokémon wandering around the town were mostly weak or lacked talent. Stronger ones would've been captured by trainers or dealt with by the League long ago.

After thoroughly combing through the area with no results, Ron decided to search outside the town in hopes of better luck.

Not long after Ron left Lavender Town, the small figure appeared in a quiet corner of the town. Moving cautiously through the streets, it eventually found a secluded dumpster. Carefully, it rummaged through it, hoping to find something edible.

What it failed to notice was the faint emergence of several figures from the walls, their eyes fixated on it with malicious intent.

"Machoke, use Foresight to keep them in check."

"Persian, wait for the right moment and use Swift!"

The star-shaped projectiles streaked through the air but were evaded as the Gastly phased into the ground, exploiting their intangible forms. Still, they couldn't escape Ron's relentless pursuit.

Had it not been for Machoke's Foresight, the Gastly would've long vanished with their invisibility. Now, however, they were forced into a desperate situation.

Among the 18 Pokémon types, ghost-types and psychic-types were notoriously difficult to capture. Prepared for this challenge, Ron had laid the groundwork for an extended chase. He wasn't worried about losing this Gastly.

Realizing Ron wasn't giving up, the Gastly made a break for Lavender Town, intending to call for reinforcements to deal with the persistent human.

With Machoke using Foresight and Shave (one of the Six Powers and a technique akin to Quick Attack), the Gastly found it impossible to shake off their pursuers. Following closely behind, Persian moved nimbly, matching the ghost Pokémon's every turn.

By the time they entered Lavender Town, dusk had settled, and the streets were deserted, sparing them from unnecessary attention. As long as Ron avoided causing damage during the capture, there wouldn't be any issues.

The Gastly sensed the presence of its kin and rushed toward them, delighted at the prospect of reinforcements.

Leaping across rooftops, Machoke and Persian kept pace with remarkable agility. By now, it was evident the Gastly was running out of energy. Victory was within reach.

Fueled by the thought of ensuring Ron's safety, both Pokémon felt an extra surge of strength.

Turning a corner, they finally saw the Gastly regrouping with its kind—and another sight: a battered, near-death Ralts.

"How's it looking, Machoke? Persian? Have you taken care of that Gastly?"

Following his Pokémon into the alley, Ron saw the group of Gastly glaring at Machoke and Persian. However, the overwhelming difference in power was enough to make the ghosts reconsider their options.

In the corner, a faintly glowing Ralts caught Ron's attention. It must've been under attack for so long that even with Ron's Fighting Aura, he could barely sense its life force.

"Machoke, Persian, teach these Gastly a lesson!"

Initially, Ron had avoided excessive violence to ensure the Gastly wouldn't grow hostile toward him—important since they would one day reside in his shadow. Any resentment might lead to them draining his life energy.

However, seeing the near-dead Ralts stirred a change in his approach. He resolved to discipline the Gastly properly this time.

Machoke and Persian acted swiftly upon Ron's command. Using a combination of Glare and Hypnosis, they immobilized the Gastly. With Foresight enabling Machoke's fighting moves to land, and Persian using Bite, the ghosts stood no chance.

Within half a minute, all the Gastly lay defeated.

Using this opportunity, Ron approached the Ralts and began healing it with his Fighting Aura. The once-trembling body slowly calmed under the soothing energy.

In its unconscious state, the Ralts seemed to dream of a serene place, free from fear. It saw a male angel with purple eyes, holding it tenderly. The warmth surrounding it felt like being submerged in a hot spring.

Since losing its parents, this was the first time Ralts had experienced such comfort. If this were a dream, it never wanted to wake up.

After an unknown amount of time, an enticing aroma stirred Ralts from its slumber. The smell reassured it that it was still alive.

Opening its eyes, Ralts found itself in a brightly lit room. Even without looking, it could sense the dangerous presences surrounding it.

Instinctively, it prepared to Teleport away but was interrupted by a calm voice.

"You're awake. Eat something first—you must be starving."

For reasons it couldn't explain, Ralts felt a deep trust in that voice. Cautiously turning toward the source, it saw a pair of striking purple eyes gazing back at it.
