Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: The Finals Begin

"Golem, use Magnitude in combination with Rock Slide to attack!"

With a heavy thud, Golem's massive body slammed onto the battlefield, causing the ground to tremble slightly. The seismic waves radiated outward, keeping Machoke at bay while Golem launched its Rock Slide.

Boulders cascaded down, but Machoke easily dodged them.

Much like Long's earlier tactics, Aaron aimed to use Magnitude and Rock Slide to confine Machoke's movements, creating an opportunity to strike decisively from the front.

Ron, however, didn't seem concerned. He directed Machoke to continue dodging the falling rocks without attempting any counterattacks.

Despite this, Aaron remained vigilant, fearing that Golem might fail to use Magnitude in time and allow Machoke to close in, potentially leaving Golem with no chance to retaliate.

From the competitors' seats, Long relaxed as he watched the match unfold.

Ron and Machoke's earlier performances had been so impressive that even Long had felt pressured.

Now, seeing Ron gradually edge toward failure, Long felt relieved, convinced that an exhausted Golem would pose no threat to his own Nidoking in the finals.

"Golem, use Earth Power for the final blow!"

After filling the battlefield with rubble, Aaron commanded Golem to launch its ultimate attack.

"It is time to finish this. Machoke, use the fallen rocks to counterattack!"

What Aaron saw as a strategy to restrict Machoke's movement had also provided Machoke with ample ammunition for a long-range counter.

The power Machoke possessed was unmatched by most Pokémon.

With its rigorous training and current level, hurling these stones presented no challenge at all.

Spotting Golem's position, Machoke hurled two massive boulders while leaping to avoid Earth Power.

"Machoke, use Mega Punch to smash the rocks!"

The sound of shattering stones echoed across the battlefield, signaling the start of Machoke's counteroffensive.

One by one, the boulders became Machoke's weapons, flying relentlessly toward Golem.

To defend against the barrage, Aaron had no choice but to instruct Golem to repeatedly use Mega Punch.

Gradually, shattered debris began to pile up around Golem . The relentless attacks frustrated both Aaron and Golem, leaving them without an effective counterstrategy and forcing them into a defensive posture.

Another set of rocks flew toward Golem, which smashed them as usual.

But when the last rock was broken, Golem found itself face-to-face with Machoke!

"Machoke, use Leer followed by Close Combat!"

Ron's command rang out. By the time Aaron reacted, it was too late.

As a Rock/Ground-type Pokémon, Golem boasted high defense against physical attacks. However, under the debuff from Leer and the type advantage of Fighting moves, the damage inflicted was overwhelming.

The debris pile shattered as Golem was knocked back, and Machoke pursued relentlessly. A second Leer paired with another Close Combat drove Golem to the edge of the battlefield.

Using a burst of speed from Shave, Machoke delivered a final Close Combat, utterly defeating Golem.

Aaron stared at his fallen Pokémon in disbelief, unable to accept that he had lost despite holding the advantage.

While Aaron was in shock, the referee announced Ron as the victor. The final match would take place in 20 minutes, after a battle between the losers to determine second and third place.

In the preparation area, Ron encountered Long, who looked visibly nervous.

Much like Aaron's Golem, Long's Nidoking shared the flaw of limited mobility.

While Nidoking's abilities wouldn't turn into weapons for Machoke as Golem's had, its lack of speed still left Long struggling to devise an effective counter.

As the 20-minute break ended, Long couldn't resist issuing a veiled threat.

"You'd better lose on purpose, or my brother, who's an Elite Trainer, won't let you off easily."

Walking briskly past Ron, Long whispered the warning before taking his position on the battlefield.

Ron responded with a smirk and a chuckle.

An Elite Trainer? In a head-on fight, Ron might not stand a chance, but with other tactics, he was confident he could take the man down.

This showed that Long was already panicking.

As the battle began, both trainers released their Pokémon.

Even after the extended rest, Nidoking, without proper healing, wasn't in peak condition.

In contrast, Machoke, bolstered by its Fighting Aura, appeared as vibrant as ever.

"Nidoking, use Thunderbolt to sweep the battlefield!"

Like Aaron before him, Long wasn't willing to let Machoke take the initiative, fearing a relentless onslaught.

The orange-yellow lightning struck the ground, splitting into smaller arcs as it raced toward Machoke.

With the obstacles from the previous battle cleared, there was nowhere for Machoke to hide.

"Machoke, use Karate Chop on the ground!"

With a swift slash, the ground cracked, and Machoke raised a chunk of rock as a shield.

The dissipated electricity lost much of its power, unable to penetrate the makeshift barrier.

"Nidoking, use Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam in rotation!"

Following Long's orders, Nidoking began cycling through its moves to suppress Machoke.

Learning from Aaron's experience, Long avoided using Earth Power, wary of providing Machoke with more ammunition.

Boosted by its Guts ability, Machoke wasn't reckless enough to tank Nidoking's attacks head-on.

Noticing this, Long opted for a steady advance, instructing Nidoking to gradually close the distance while driving Machoke closer to the battlefield's edge.

According to the rules, stepping out of bounds meant an automatic loss.

Seeing Machoke's disadvantage, Ron didn't rush to counterattack. Instead, he calmly directed Machoke to dodge while inching backward.

"Now's the time! Nidoking, charge forward with Flamethrower!"

With Machoke mere steps away from the edge, Long launched an aggressive charge.

Flames erupted, followed closely by Nidoking's advance.

Using its agility, Machoke deftly evaded the Flamethrower.

"Nidoking, use Earthquake and follow up with Megahorn!"

Stomping the ground heavily, Nidoking unleashed a tremor while charging forward with its horn spinning, aiming to drive Machoke out of bounds.

"Warm-up's over. It's time to end this. Machoke, use Shave to reposition!"

From the start of the match, Machoke had held back its full speed, a deliberate ploy by Ron to deceive Long.

With a burst of acceleration, Machoke dodged both the Earthquake and Megahorn.

"Nidoking, Earthquake again!"

Before Nidoking could stomp the ground, Machoke locked eyes with it, activating Leer.

The battle was far from over.
