Pokemon - A real story

Axel already knew that Norty had also analyzed Axel's team and Axel's team was not a very good fit for Norty's gym. This was going to be a challenge and also very interesting.

Axel loved to such challenges and puzzles like winning this gym battle. This is why he loved to be a trainer and now he was determined to win this battle.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Ecruteak City Gym. I am Rupa and I will be your commentator for this gym battle.

I am very surprised to see such a huge crowd in today's battle but it is understandable. The gym battle is going to be very interesting and the challenger is also very capable. So, who is going to win this battle?

We can only know if we see the battle.

I will not waste any of your precious time and call out our gym leader, Mr. Norty."

The crowd cheered for Mr. Norty. Norty was very famous in the city for being kind and an ideal gym leader. The gym was not as famous as others because it was a ghost-type gym. Most of the trainers find ghost-type Pokemons very scary.

The door opened from one end of the battle stadium and Norty waved his hand as he came forward. He looked very confident which increased the curiosity of the crowd.

"Now, the challenger that all of us have been waiting for. Mr. Axel Blaze.", said Rupa as the door from the other end of the battle stadium also opened and Axel walked towards the stadium.

Axel didn't wave his hand like Norty. He was very serious about this fight.

He directly looked at Norty's eyes like a hungry beast. He had a tide battle to win and if he could not even win such a simple gym battle then there was no way that he could get that legendary Pokemon egg.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am Roy and I will be the referee of this gym battle. Before we start the battle, let me first tell you all the rules:

This is a 3 VS 3 Pokemons gym battle.

Only the challenger can change his Pokemons during the battle.

If the battle ends in a draw, the challenger will be considered victorious.

The gym leader can only use Pokemon of the elemental rank category.

The gym leader and the challenger could not use any items during the gym battle.

Gym leader will take out his Pokemons first.

The gym leader can only use ghost-type Pokemons.

The gym leader cannot switch his Pokemons during the battle.

These are the rules of the battle. Now, the gym leader Norty is requested to send out his first Pokemon.", said Roy.

"Are you ready for the gym battle?", asked Norty.

The crowd was silent as everyone wanted to hear their conversation.

"Yes, I am ready to beat you up.", said Axel.

"Haha, that was what I wanted to hear. Now, come out GENGAR!!!"

Norty used his long hands and threw the ball in the air. The mater ball shined in the light high in the air and it cracked open and Gengar came out.

GENGARRRR!!!

The crowd went nuts after seeing Gengar. Gengar also looked at the crowd and started to wave its hand and then started to do some parlor tricks to get more cheers.

This Gengar was an attention grabber. Every Pokemon had its nature and traits and it loved the attention.

Frankly, Axel was very disappointed. This Gengar had just recently ranked up to elemental rank. Its stats were not so high except for its health and special attack.

Its moves were also very disappointing. The Pokemon had a ghost-type core but Axel felt that it was a poison-type specialist. It had learned a lot of moves and Norty could use a lot of tricks on these moves but these tricks were going to be very common and not so special. It had also not learned any new moves.

Axel just didn't understand why Norty used such a Pokemon. It was not that Norty was a bad trainer. On the contrary, he was a very exceptional trainer.

Looking at the confused face of Axel, Norty was first shocked and then disappointed. He led a big sigh and Axel noticed it.

"Axel, this is just your 3rd gym battle. Of course, I am not going to use an overpowered ghost-type Pokemon right from the start. But my second and third Pokemon will not be so easy.", said Norty.

Norty was surprised that Axel had such a high perception to know that Gengar was not so strong. And then he was disappointed. Not on Axel but on his fellow gym leaders.

These gym leaders had just a big ego that they did everything to win against a young trainer who had just started the journey for this reason and they still lost.

Norty was determined to set a good example for gym leaders in the Johto region because the current reputation of the gym leaders of Johto was very bad and it was all due to Axel Blaze.

But the gym was not a place for competition. The purpose of the gym was for a trainer to realize how to grow and learn and also to test if the trainer is qualified to have the badge.

But that didn't mean that he was going to go easy on Axel.

"The challenger is requested to send out his first Pokemon.", said the referee.

"Come out, Gary!!!", shouted Axel and then threw the ball.

"A Primeape? You are not using your king rank Pokemon?", asked Norty.

"No, if the gym leader acts like one then I am also very eager to learn.", replied Axel with a smile. He was now confirmed that Norty had studied him.

"Are you both ready for battle?"

"Yes."

"Let the battle begin!!"

"Gary uses 'Bulk up'", said Axel.

"Gengar, use 'Nasty plot'"

Both of them used their status moves at the same time.

Primeape didn't waste any time and then proceeded to use the move 'Earthquake'.

But Gengar knew about this and jumped and then used 'Shadow ball' on the ground. The force of the 'Shadow ball' was high. It must have used quite a bit of force in this.

Due to the force, it flew higher in the air and was barely able to stay in the air while the move 'Earthquake' was finished. Norty was a very crafty gym leader.

Yet, it could not dodge the second move when Primeape came rushing down and then used the move 'Thunder punch' on its face. Gengar didn't have enough time to dodge the attack again.

"Use 'Shadow punch'. Counter it."

Gengar didn't have enough time to gather the energy of the attack and it was already weaker physically than Primeape. So, it lost this bout and was flown and thrown on the ground from the impact.

"Use 'Focus energy'"

Primeape took advantage of it and used the move 'Focus energy'.

"Gengar, use 'Icy wind'", said Norty with a calm face.

'Icy wind' would basically send out a blast of icy wind that will freeze the target partially. This would slow the target's movements.

But this time, the effect was entirely different. Gengar opened its big mouth and then started to spit out blue cold air mixed with ice and that cold air surrounded the whole stadium.

This not only decreased the speed of Primeape but also decreased its vision as the whole stadium was filled with this icy gas.

It seemed to have modified this move to work in its favor. Axel could immediately see that Gengar was very good at hiding in the shadow of these gasses. It was not perfect but it seemed to learning a new move regarding this.

It then started to use moves like 'Shadow ball' and 'Sludge bomb' from various directions. Primeape was able to counter some of them but it was hit by a couple of 'Shadow ball' that had decreased its health.

Gengar had completely controlled this battle now. Axel knew that Primeape was not going to win this battle like this. If Axel wanted to win this battle, then he would have to win this fight or make a draw with Gengar. If he could not do it, then the pressure would accumulate.

"Gary, use 'Earthquake'", said Axel.

ROOOARRR

Primeape gave out a big roar and then jumped in the air and crashed its feet on the ground. Gengar took this opportunity to use the same strategy as before to dodge the attack and then used the move 'Thunder wave'.

Primeape was hit by the attack and now it had become partially paralyzed. Gengar was not so good at using the move but even partial paralysis would be the end of the battle now.

" 'Beserker Hollow'", said Axel.

Even though it was partially paralyzed, using this move, didn't require it to move much. So, it took the position and used the move to defend the attack.

Gengar started to bombard a round of moves. Mostly, 'Shadow ball'. Norty didn't want it to go near Primeape as it was not physically stronger than Primeape.

Primeape could defend using this position for 5 minutes straight. Its special defense and defense would increase a lot like a shield in front of it but Axel also knew that it would not take the hit for 5 minutes.

But Axel wanted it to take those hits as much as possible. Primeape had very little move set to use against Gengar as it could not use fighting type moves and normal-type moves.

Gengar went nuts at that time. Norty didn't know what Axel was playing at. Telling Primeape to take all those hits but he was going to take full advantage of it.

After a minute of using all the attacking moves, Gengar started to get tired. This was what Axel was looking for.

Ghost-type Pokemon's stamina worked in a different way. They didn't increase with continuous practice but with time. So, a ghost-type Pokemon who was only 10 years old would have low stamina.

One might ask, why didn't Shedinja have this problem?

Well, Shedinja was a ghost/bug type Pokemon and bug types had high stamina, and once a Pokemon reaches king rank, this disadvantage of stamina would start to get normal.

So, Gengar was already getting tired. That was why Norty wanted to finish this fight as fast as possible as he knew that Primeape had a lot of stamina.

When a minute was over, Gengar thought to use 'Shadow punch' to finish this battle as everyone could see that Primeape had accumulated a lot of wounds. It was bleeding from all over the place and it was on its last legs.

"Now, use 'Thunder punch' and 'Fire punch'.", said Axel.

Primeape took the advantage of surprise and then used a powerful stack of punches made of thunder and fire at a rapid pace.

Due to it defending a lot of attacks from Gengar, its attack power had increased by a lot. So, the moves were very powerful.

BANG!! BANG!!

Primeape was very fast and accurate but Gengar knew that it would not be able to win in a close fight against it. So, it made some distance to use a special type move but as it was trying to do it, Primeape's right fist suddenly turned black in color and then its right fist hit its left cheek.

BANG!!!

Norty didn't even have time to say anything as it happened so fast and so suddenly.

The move was 'Assurance'.
