"I'll leave it to you!"

Gary took out his second Poké Ball and confidently tossed it. As it opened, a bright light flashed, revealing a furry Pokémon landing on the ground.

"Eevee? So Gary caught an Eevee too!" Misty exclaimed, watching the scene unfold. As expected of Ash's rival—even their Pokémon seem to match.

Gary's Pokémon was indeed Eevee, and the second battle officially began. Since Ash's Pidgeotto hadn't yet lost its fighting spirit, it remained in play.

"Watch out, Ash! Eevee, use Growl!"

Gary quickly commanded, and Eevee let out a piercing cry. A wave of sound burst forth, directly hitting Pidgeotto, who was still airborne.

Pidgeotto squinted, visibly discomforted. Growl might not deal direct damage, but it could lower the opponent's attack power.

"Pidgeotto, use Hurricane!" Ash called out, noticing the opportunity. Since Eevee couldn't fly, Pidgeotto's aerial advantage would allow it to strike strategically.

*Boom!*

With a powerful flap of its wings, Pidgeotto stirred up a fierce storm aimed at Eevee. The gusts battered Eevee, and though it gritted its teeth, its small body struggled against the force, sliding back despite its resistance. Gary quickly issued his next command.

"Eevee, use Dig!"

Hearing Gary's order, Eevee swiftly burrowed into the ground, creating a tunnel to dodge Pidgeotto's aerial assault. With Eevee now hidden underground, Pidgeotto couldn't directly reach it from above.

However, for Eevee to strike Pidgeotto, it would have to resurface. Dig could only avoid attacks temporarily and was ineffective against a flying opponent like Pidgeotto.

"Pidgeotto, get ready to use Steel Wing as soon as Eevee comes up!" Ash commanded, watching intently from above as Pidgeotto scanned the field for any movement.

Suddenly, a rumbling echoed from the ground near Pidgeotto, and the earth began to give way, revealing a small opening.

"Now!" Ash called, and Pidgeotto immediately dove down, wings gleaming in preparation for Steel Wing.

Just as Pidgeotto neared the opening, Gary reacted.

"Eevee, use Sand Attack!"

A burst of sand shot up from the cave, catching Pidgeotto off guard and hitting it squarely. Startled, Pidgeotto instinctively shut its eyes against the spray of sand.

"Eevee, now!" Gary seized the moment to launch his counterattack.

"Pidgeotto, go up!" Realizing the danger, Ash shouted immediately. Though Pidgeotto had its eyes closed, it flapped its wings hard and quickly ascended.

"It won't work—Eevee, use Swift!" Gary responded, seeming to anticipate Ash's move. As Pidgeotto gained altitude, Gary's Eevee leapt out from the tunnel, aiming upward as it unleashed its next attack.

*Shhhh!*

A flurry of golden stars shot from Eevee's mouth, streaking through the air like darts, homing in on Pidgeotto. Swift was an unavoidable move, and it struck Pidgeotto before it could react.

*Boom!*

An explosion filled the air with smoke, and a moment later, a figure emerged from the haze, falling toward the ground. Pidgeotto landed heavily, dazed and unable to move.

"Pidgeotto is unable to battle. Eevee wins!" Brock announced, raising his hand to declare the match's result.

"Yeah! Gary won! Go, Gary!" cheered Stephanie and her sons in the front row, their voices filled with excitement.

"What a shame! Gary's Eevee is so strong," Misty remarked, feeling a bit disappointed. In battles, the more Pokémon left, the stronger your standing.

Ash, who initially held the advantage after his first victory, was now back to even footing with Gary as Pidgeotto's defeat reset the match.

"Sharp reflexes are important, but Ash, you're focusing too much on what's right in front of you. I actually picked up this tactic from watching you," Gary said, looking up with confidence.

Both sides knew each other's moves well, and Gary was aware of Ash's battle style, which is why he had Eevee hold back instead of emerging immediately for an attack.

"Looks like Eevee has some tricks I still need to learn! You did great, Pidgeotto. Time to rest." Ash recalled Pidgeotto to its Poké Ball, speaking with warmth as he held the ball close.

Then, with a determined look, he took out his next Poké Ball, ready for the next round. "Since you sent out Eevee, let's go!"

Ash tossed his Poké Ball, and in a flash of light, another Eevee appeared on the field, mirroring Gary's Pokémon.

"Huh? So you caught an Eevee too," Gary remarked, surprised by Ash's choice.

In the arena, the two Eevees locked eyes, their gaze filled with fierce determination. Being the same species didn't make them allies—on the battlefield, their rivalry only intensified.

"Let's see whose Eevee is stronger!" Ash said, smiling.

"Bring it on! Eevee, use Quick Attack!" Gary commanded, his Eevee instantly transforming into a blur of silver light, charging directly at Ash's Eevee.

"Eevee, counter with Tackle!" Ash called out in response.

*Bam!*
