Please Behave My Wife Novel

Chapter 6: Chapter 67: What Exactly Did You Write?

Good things should just be patiently awaited to happen; only bad things need to be dealt with, Qin Guanglin thought to himself. He realized this was true, so whether he figured out the fortune or not didn't matter.

After leaving the temple with He Fang through the side gate, Qin Guanglin held an umbrella over her head, diligently fulfilling his role as her umbrella-bearer—yes, he had been promoted again.

"How about we check out another area?" He Fang suggested after studying the guide map for a moment.

"Sure, do you want to see the waterfall?" Qin Guanglin replied.

"Yeah, sounds good." She took a step forward, then turned back to hook her arm around his. "Is it still hurting?"

"It doesn't hurt anymore after you massaged it." Qin Guanglin kissed her hand. "That's what they call miraculous healing, right?"

A pinch hurts a lot, but a gentle rub makes it feel much better—true miraculous hands at work.

"Do you think I'm scary?" He Fang asked, looking at him.

"Being a little scary is a good thing, so you can keep your students in line." Qin Guanglin answered lazily.

Someone who can climb into his bed at midnight—how scary can she be? The fierce look she had earlier actually seemed kind of cute.

"Heh heh." He Fang swayed her head proudly. "You're my first student, so I have to manage you properly."

"When do I graduate?" Qin Guanglin asked playfully.

"Hmm... When I don't have to say anything anymore, and all I have to do is raise my hand or give you a look, and you'll know exactly what to do—that's when you'll graduate."

Qin Guanglin imagined this scene for a moment, then immediately felt dissatisfied. "Are you treating me like a dog?"

"Heh, you're my dog."

"Woof~" he joked.

"Good boy," He Fang responded, reaching up to pat his head.

"Hehehe." Qin Guanglin gave her a sly grin. "What do you call a dog's girlfriend?"

Sometimes, a move might hurt you but at least you don't lose anything. The trick is to minimize losses, even if there's no gain.

He Fang gave him a side-eye. "Are you looking for another round of 'miraculous healing'?"

"Don't, don't." Qin Guanglin turned his gaze elsewhere, but then suddenly turned back to stare at her, trying to hold back his smile.

He Fang narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "What's wrong with you?"

"I think... you know, when I move even a little, you already know what I'm thinking. And just by a look, you can read what I'm up to."

He Fang squinted her eyes, clearly warning him. "So?"

"That means you're graduated," Qin Guanglin said, breaking into a grin.

He wasn't worried about it anymore. "If I'm a dog, then you're the one training me, right?"

"Humph, at least you know your place." He Fang gave him a glance and then was distracted by a large tree ahead.

"Such a huge tree," she said in awe.

"It really is big." Qin Guanglin was also surprised. "I thought it was big when I saw it online, but it's even more impressive in person."

The tree in front of them wasn't very tall, but its trunk was incredibly thick, not growing upward but spreading out horizontally like a giant umbrella covering a wide area.

"What a pity it's so big. We can't get a good shot with it," He Fang said with some regret.

To take a full photo, they'd need to stand far away. Since there were only the two of them, it didn't make sense to take a single-person photo, and there was no one around to help them take one together.

"How about we find someone to take the photo for us?" Qin Guanglin suggested, looking around as there were a lot of people.

He Fang shook her head. "Never mind, let's make a wish instead."

The tree was covered in red thread knots and wooden plaques—an authentic wishing tree. There was also a table set up nearby, where staff were selling the wooden plaques and red knots for wishes.

To use a plaque, you had to write a wish on it and hang it on the tree, while the red knot could be tied up without writing anything. The red knot catered to people who didn't want others to know their wishes.

"Which one do you want?" Qin Guanglin asked, turning to her.

"I'll take a plaque. That way, when we come back many years later, we'll still see it."

"I'll take a plaque too," he said, taking out his wallet and paying. He then walked to another table to write his wish.

"What are you writing?" He Fang asked him.

"You can't look! Otherwise, it won't come true," Qin Guanglin said seriously, shaking his head as he hid the plaque from her view and waited for her to write hers first.

"Yeah, right." He Fang rolled her eyes, took the pen, and moved to a corner, covering her paper with her hand as she began writing.

Seeing her, Qin Guanglin also grabbed a pen and hurriedly wrote down a few words. Then, he raised his head and looked at her, grinning.

"You didn't just write two words, did you?" He Fang tried to guess what he wrote.

"The secrets of the heavens can't be revealed," Qin Guanglin said with a mysterious air. He walked over to the tree, looked around for the best spot, and hung the plaque up.

"I'm going to hang mine next to yours," He Fang said, holding her plaque and walking over. "Which one is yours?"

"This one," Qin Guanglin said, pressing his hand against the plaque to prevent her from sneaking a peek.

"Then don't you dare peek at mine," He Fang warned, hanging her plaque and then stepping back two paces, ensuring he didn't tamper with it.

"I'll just look at other people's," Qin Guanglin said as he circled around the tree, making sure no one suspected him of trying to peek at her plaque.

After a while, He Fang walked over to join him. She was curious too, and a lot of people were surrounding the tree, so it seemed okay to look.

She flipped through a few plaques. Most of them were the usual wishes for eternal love or good health and happiness.

Qin Guanglin picked up an especially old plaque and asked, "Do you think their wish came true?"

"I think it did..." He Fang leaned over to look at the plaque. It said "to grow old together with so-and-so." She nodded. "It definitely came true."

"Ha, I wonder if they'll ever come back to check," Qin Guanglin said, putting the plaque down with little interest and looking away.

Leaves from the lush tree occasionally fell, and one landed gently on He Fang's shoulder. Qin Guanglin reached out to brush it off, then took her hand in his, their fingers entwined.

"Okay, let's go," he said.

Making a wish was just for peace of mind, but ultimately, it's about what each person does to achieve their goals. Relying too much on these mysterious rituals would be a bit ridiculous.

"Let's go." He Fang nodded.

She walked ahead for a bit, then turned to glance back. "I wonder how many people this tree has witnessed, coming and going."

"Well, it's witnessed the two of us, and we left two plaques." Qin Guanglin casually remarked.

"Many years from now, when the plaques rot and disintegrate into the soil, the tree will absorb them and they'll continue to exist." He Fang laughed as she said this.

"Maybe they'll just be swept away," Qin Guanglin interrupted, ruining the atmosphere.

"...Then they'll just become nutrients for other trees," she said with a smile.

"For the trees in the trash dump?"

"Doesn't matter what kind of trees, as long as they exist forever."
