Chapter 1428 Aftermath

"...Unfair. Taste my wrath." Were the first words Ophis spoke while furiously poking the immobilized Kisuke's face.

Benihime and Tiamat also sat down beside her and joined in the fun with the former snickering at him, "That's right. Show him who's the boss."

Kisuke could only furrow his brows in protest, "Give me a break. I don't know how much memories you've inherited, but I'm sure you know it's not convenient for me to just look for you... Actually... Your attention is just a pain in the ass at this point of time."

Ophis, however, chose to ignore Kisuke's words and just smiled smugly, "I shall stay by your side, you who's alone in this world. Be thankful."

Kisuke could only stare in defeat at Ophis while his face was being warped by fingers and sigh, "...You sure have a lot of free time, huh?"

Compared to the 'Ophis' that he saw earlier, the one in front of him is obviously a lot more animated. Kisuke could guess that while she had lived longer than the one he knew, she probably became mostly a bystander and an observer, only moving and exerting effort when it's an emergency.

[Could it be that no one really bothered teaching her things? But I guess that's also due to the kindness of those around her and their refusal to take advantage of her after her experience with Qlippoth Faction.] Kisuke internally muttered.

[That's understandable. Since someone like you who would find usefulness within individuals without caring who or what they are didn't exist, the one who took over to 'take care' of her became Issei Hyoudou and those around him. They don't have the heart to be an asshole like you. In fact, they probably protected her from assholes like you, namely, Ajuka Beelzebub.] Benihime commented.

Tiamat also has an opinion of her own, [Treated like a child yet worshiped like a God... How fascinating.]

Ophis felt something, started pouting, and intensified her poking, "Cease talking among yourselves. Let me in."

"You're not my Zanpakuto so of course I can't do that." Kisuke, however, immediately regretted the words that had come out of his mouth when he saw Ophis' unprecedented shining eyes, "...No."

"I'd like a banana cake along with it. And prepare two portions."

Kisuke could only audibly sigh.

Seeing this, Benihime's smirk grew wider, [If she inherited all the memories and experiences of the Ophis that we know and your guesses about her current situation are correct, she'll probably feel alone in this world too. The least you can do is take responsibility.]

It was only then that it dawned on Kisuke the implications of Ophis having the same experiences as the one he knew. While both she and Great Red managed to extract their memories through Kisuke, he wouldn't be surprised with Ophis taking it as her own due to her own existence and attribute 'Infinite.'

Kisuke smiled wryly and forced his paralyzed body to move his arm and his hand onto her head, "Welcome home, I guess?"

Ophis was surprised for a moment before smiling sweetly, "...I'm home."

Kisuke removed his hand from Ophis' head after a while before asking, "...The reason why you guys are not carrying me inside?"

[Quincy's Letzt Stil (Last Style)] Depletes not just the environment's Reishi but also the entire energy they have in the body and condenses it into a single arrow. Due to how it works, it wreaks havoc and fries most of the nerves needed to channel all of that energy, causing the body to be temporarily paralyzed.

It also got its name from the fact that a Quincy will never be able to use his or her abilities again once used but of course, there are several exceptions to that.

Kisuke could regenerate himself, but he didn't want to do so in front of countless eyes because the only restoration that would be effective for this kind of damage is his own regeneration which uses his Reiatsu.

"And have them intrude into the shop? Deal with them outside." Benihime answered.

While most of the rescue forces were cleaning up, their attention was actually on them. Their wariness is understandable since they are unknown characters that just took down a God and many of its minions in one shot. Not to mention, what Kisuke showed just now appeared to be 'Evil' as everything around him had withered and became lifeless.

If not for Ophis' presence, they would probably converge around them to question or even detain them.

"Those are not the eyes that you give someone who just saved you." Tiamat muttered while looking back.

Kisuke, on the other hand, defended them, "They are not idiots. We're suspicious enough that it's reasonable to think that this is just a big setup. I mean where do you randomly find guys who can demolish a pretty strong God like that?"

Kisuke, however, was worried how Ophis would react to that but was glad that she didn't seem to care. What he didn't know is that Ophis was actually pitying them because they are being hostile to the 'Mr. Hat-n-Clogs that's known for his pettiness.'

Soon enough, these people actually started retreating and they were able to guess that they received instructions to back off.

After they had left the area, Kisuke saw the familiar guy in pristine white armor fly up and land on top of a distant building, overlooking the area they were in. It then didn't take long for three people to come to them, and they were Helmwige, Ex, who's borrowing the former's shoulder to walk, and finally Airi, who's not just looking at him with suspicion but also Ophis.

"Why come if you can't even walk properly?" Kisuke lifted up his head slightly.

Ex chuckled for a bit before replying, "Better than you walking towards me. How come you're down there?"

"Result of me doing my best. This won't be for free, though. Oh, and by the way, I won't be able to join you in your training anymore... Probably for months if not years."

Ex's eyes widened, "...That bad? You can at least move, right?"

"If I don't, this tall lady beside me will turn me into a puppet. I have to do it even if I can't."

Ex thought that he was just joking and let it pass. He lowered his head and the two girls beside him also did the same, "Thank you very much. If not for you, Loki would have escaped and Asia-kaa-san would have been in grave danger."

Kisuke looked at him for a few moments before smiling, "As I've said, I didn't do that for free. Your guardian seems to be staying back as I requested so let's head inside."

Before anyone could react, however, Ophis suddenly stood up and said, "Finally!" and began dragging Kisuke by the collar towards the shop, "I request cookies for snacks. Two portions."

It wasn't just the siblings who were stunned but also Vali, who was watching from afar.
