Chapter 241: [FGO]: 241
This time, a silvery radiance lit up on the back of Ryou's right hand!
In an instant, the world turned gray. Zeus's thunderbolts, Poseidon's tsunamis, and even the spells cast by Odin using primordial runes all lost their original colors and froze mid-air. The gods, too, were no exception; their divine forms were covered in a layer of gray, making them appear like lifelike stone statues. The power of the Root Gem was truly terrifying beyond words!
Taking advantage of the power of the Time Gem, Ryou strolled toward the trio of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. He extended his hand slowly, a faint trace of grayish-black light flickering at his fingertip. At first glance, it seemed unremarkable, but upon closer inspection, an overwhelming aura of death surged forth—symbolizing the death of humans, gods, planets, all things, and entire worlds. This single point represented the purest essence of death!
With a solemn expression, as if preparing to press a nuclear launch button, Ryou firmly pressed his fingertip onto the center of Zeus's forehead.
"Command: Death!"
The grayish-black aura of death at Ryou's fingertip immediately spread across Zeus's body, starting from his forehead. The King of Olympus, already encased in the gray of time, was now enveloped by an additional layer of deathly gray. At the same moment, Ryou's face also turned grayish-black, symbolizing death.
However, just then, the back of his right hand erupted with a vibrant green light, brimming with vitality, causing the grayish hue on Ryou's face to vanish without a trace. He repeated the process with Poseidon and Hades. However, when it came to Hades, he refrained from using Command: Death, uncertain whether the God of the Underworld might have a way to resist such a fatal attack.
At this moment, the Time Gem began emitting flickering silver light, signaling that the time-stop effect was nearing its end. Ryou quickly buffed himself with every enhancement he could muster and filled his body with the power of vengeance using the Energy Gem. Finally, he targeted Hades's head and unleashed a flurry of punches, shouting, "Ora ora ora ora!"
In the next second, the Time Gem's light faded, and the world regained its vibrant colors.
Splat!
Hades's head exploded as if struck by a massive 2,000-ton iron hammer. Fortunately, the bodies of gods transcended mortal flesh, consisting almost entirely of pure energy. As Hades's head burst apart, it disintegrated into countless golden particles that scattered into the air.
At that moment, a series of thuds echoed. Zeus, Poseidon, and even headless Hades collapsed to the ground, lifeless. Along with Thor and Erinye, who had already fallen to Ryou earlier, six of the gods were dead in an instant. Just seconds ago, these groups had been conversing and laughing; now, their corpses lay cold. For the first time, the surviving gods felt the terror of having their lives utterly controlled by another.
Facing the fearsome Ryou, the remaining gods instinctively took a step back. What they didn't know was that Ryou was even more shocked than they were. When he killed Poseidon and Hades, a mysterious energy—let's call it energy—flowed into his body. Ryou immediately sensed a dramatic increase in his mastery of both the powers of death and the sea. But with formidable enemies still present, this was no time to inspect his system panel, so he suppressed his curiosity for the moment.
As the seemingly invincible Ryou stood before them, beads of cold sweat dripped from Loki's forehead.
"Damn, looks like we've kicked a titanium alloy steel plate this time," she muttered.
Though she maintained a defensive stance, her eyes darted around, betraying her desire to flee. Occasionally, her gaze flicked toward Odin and Ouranus, clearly hoping to use them as scapegoats while she escaped.
The Allfather Odin of the Asgardian pantheon, noticing Loki's intentions, let out an angry roar.
"Pierce him! Gungnir!"
Odin raised his blood-red spear, veins bulging in his arm, and hurled it forcefully at Ryou. The legendary spear, crafted from the branches of Yggdrasil, transformed into a blood-red thunderbolt as it shot through the air toward Ryou. As it traveled, the spear tore through the air, causing space itself to wail in agony.
Ryou felt his heart pounding as if a deadly and inescapable presence had locked onto him, ready to claim his life at any moment. Gungnir, one of the most famous spears in mythology, was all too familiar to Ryou. Once it locked onto its target, no matter where they fled, the spear would track them like a meteor and pierce their heart. Escape was futile. The moment Gungnir locked onto its prey, its destiny to pierce the target had already been sealed. The spear's trajectory merely adjusted to fulfill this inevitable outcome.
Ryou knew that dodging such an attack with speed or teleportation was impossible. The only way to deal with it was to face it head-on! He activated every buff at his disposal and unleashed an endless barrage of punches at the blood-red thunderbolt.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
The sound of air compressing under his fists echoed, accompanied by the piercing clash of metal. Sparks flew at the point of contact between the spearhead and his punches. However, despite his iron fists, capable of shattering mountains, they could only slow the spear's advance. Gungnir continued its relentless thrust, embodying pure determination and cold indifference.
Ryou's expression darkened. These ancient, millennia-old powerhouses were truly not to be underestimated. Without the overpowered effects of the Root Gem, the battle would have been far more grueling. But misfortune rarely comes alone. While Ryou was locked in combat with Odin, Ouranus made his move in silence. The primordial god, older and more formidable than Zeus, unleashed a devastating attack that shook the heavens and the earth.
Ryou suddenly found himself surrounded by a dense mist. Then, endless lightning, torrential rain, and violent winds descended upon him, transforming the world into a scene of apocalyptic destruction. Unlike Zeus, who merely manipulated thunder as a tool, Ouranus wielded the very power of the heavens themselves. The entire sky became Ryou's enemy.
As Ryou sensed the perilous environment closing in, his face grew cold. His resolve had been made. The energy gem suddenly burst into a dazzling golden radiance. However, unlike before, this light was wild and uncontrollable, like an unbridled stallion, threatening to break free at any moment and even turn against its master!
Ryou, unfazed, allowed the energy gem to run amok. The massive energy surged into his body through the artifact Apocalypse, converting into a dark red force of vengeance power.
Yet, this reckless approach seemed to provoke an even greater backlash from the gem. Initially, the golden energy poured into Ryou's body through his arm. But as the energy accumulated excessively, the narrow entry point was forcefully ripped apart, unleashing an unstoppable flood into him. Pain overwhelmed him as if a massive industrial drill—far beyond a household tool—was boring into his palm. Wherever the golden energy coursed, his skin cracked like porcelain, bleeding profusely, and turning him into a blood-soaked figure.
Sensing Ryou's dire injuries, the Life Gem lit up with vibrant green light, channeling immense life energy to heal him. The wounds on Ryou's body started to itch unbearably as they rapidly regenerated. However, the healing process alternated with the gem's damage, creating a torturous cycle that nearly drove Ryou mad. The combination of excruciating pain and bone-deep itching was almost unbearable. But sacrifice brings reward.
Ryou gained near-unparalleled power in exchange for the extreme cost. He no longer knew how much vengeance energy had accumulated within him, nor could he fathom its destructive potential. The only thing he knew was this: with one punch, Ouranus would die. And so, he struck. The punch shattered the heavens and the earth! The elemental forces that Ouranus had meticulously controlled were obliterated most directly and brutally. Eons of survival and battle instincts screamed a warning to Ouranus.
Without hesitation, he transformed his body into thunder and fled, propelled by a storm. In just one second, he had escaped a hundred miles. Yet his efforts were futile. The terrifying shockwave of Ryou's punch pierced through space and struck Ouranus.
"No!!!"
This was the last sound from the son of Gaia, the first Olympian king, and primordial sky god. In an instant, Ouranus was reduced to dust, dissipating into the air. The punch didn't stop there; it pierced the obsidian walls of the dungeon and continued upward, leaving a visible scar in the sky. Eventually, it reached space and struck the moon, leaving a massive crater.
Nearby, Odin, witnessing Ryou's overwhelming power, was so terrified that he transformed into a raven and tried to flee. However, Ryou caught up in an instant through teleportation and crushed him with another punch.
Now, only Loki and Athena, Ryou's old acquaintances, remained alive.
Sensing danger when Ryou targeted Ouranus, the ever-cunning Loki had already prepared an escape plan. A golden staff suddenly descended a kilometer away, transforming mid-air into dozens of light beams that created a semi-circular prison. Inside, Loki appeared, while the "Loki" standing in her original position vanished with a poof! It had only been an illusion. But just as Loki thought she had escaped, her plan was thwarted.
"Damn it, Athena, are you insane?!"
Loki snarled, her face dark with fury. Athena approached leisurely, her expression sweet and coquettish like a lovesick girl reluctant to part with her lover. Yet, her gaze radiated venom so intense that Loki shivered involuntarily.
"Why the rush, dear? It's been so long since we've met. Stay a while," Athena teased, her soft voice laced with malice. Loki, unnerved, tried reasoning.
"While he's after Odin, release me, and we'll escape together…"
"Escape?"
Athena interrupted with a crazed laugh.
"Why would I escape?"
Loki's face fell as Athena's demeanor turned maniacal.
"Ever since that day, my heart and soul have been consumed by torment, longing for your death. Finally, the moment has come!" Athena's delight was palpable as she traced her finger seductively over her lips.
"You think that man will spare you, you wretched harlot?!"
Loki screamed, panic growing as Odin's energy vanished.
"I'm doing this because I want to. Isn't it wonderful?"
Athena giggled.
"You lunatic! I should've killed you when I had the chance!"
Loki spat through gritted teeth.
"Yes, you should have killed me," Athena scoffed, her voice dripping with venom.
"But you didn't. And now, my only purpose is to ensure you die!"
Meanwhile, Ryou, having defeated Odin, swiftly returned. Surprised that the two goddesses hadn't fled, he wasted no time. Unleashing another all-out attack, he hurled a devastating punch at them. Feeling the deadly threat, Loki desperately attacked the light prison, but Athena held it together with all her strength. Despite trembling, the prison remained intact. Moments later, the annihilating punch descended, obliterating both goddesses into ash.
Thus, Ryou completed his triumph of taking on all ten gods!
