Player’s Guide to Raising a BUG Angel

Ch. 6

Chapter 6: My Wife is Watching Me From Behind the Curtains!

Night had grown deep.

The moon inside the game was far brighter than in reality.

Its silvery radiance blanketed the earth, draping the desolate western wasteland with a mysterious veil.

The backyard of the Forgotten Library, however, was still brightly lit.

Most of the players who had queued up during the day had already dispersed, but more than a hundred of the most “devout” “believers” still remained.

They were the group that had studied the “Sacred Stone Doctrine” the most deeply, firmly convinced that the quest trigger must be related to the night.

“Bro, I think the ‘Environment Faction’s’ theory makes some sense.

Look at this moonlight, it’s so beautiful.

A literary girl like Mophis, my wife, would definitely enjoy walking under the moon.

Shouldn’t we set the mood a little?” a ranger said.

“How to set it? Fireworks? No, no, way too loud.

It would disturb wife’s rest.” a thief beside him immediately vetoed.

“Then… what if we sang a nocturne together?”

“I think a Dead.man solo would fit the atmosphere better.”

“Oh, come off it! That duck-voice of yours would scare all the wolves away.”

As the crowd noisily debated, a petite figure quietly walked up to the “Sacred Stone.”

It was the priest girl, 【HealsTheEntireServer】.

Since yesterday, she had stayed here almost without leaving.

During the day, she quietly queued like everyone else.

When it was her turn, unlike the others who knocked and struck, she simply faced the stone and spoke softly.

“Mophis Miss, are you doing well?”

“The weather is nice today.

It would be lovely if you could come out and enjoy the sunshine.”

“They may be noisy, but they mean no harm, don’t be afraid.”

At night, when the others went to research strategies, she still stood guard here, occasionally driving away a few nocturnal spiders that respawned nearby.

She was different from 【Mad Blade】, who acted with clear goals, and unlike the other players who feverishly pursued rewards.

She simply felt that the NPC called Mophis was pitiful.

The first time they met, she had helped the fallen girl up, and in her eyes, she saw a loneliness and unease that would not fade away.

As a natural “healer,” 【HealsTheEntireServer】’s compassion overflowed.

She always felt she should do something for her.

At this moment, she looked at the “Sacred Stone” surrounded by players, then raised her eyes to the pitch-black window on the library’s second floor, and sighed softly.

“Now that everyone is here, are you… even less willing to come out?” she whispered to herself.

She felt certain that the girl was watching them from behind that window.

Watching this noisy, clumsy, but passionate group of players.

What kind of feelings would she have?

Would she find them annoying, or… perhaps feel a touch of warmth?

Almost without thinking, 【HealsTheEntireServer】 aimed at that window and used a priest’s support skill—【Observation】.

This skill was usually used to check the status of allies or enemies.

When used on a building, it should not have any effect at all.

However, the very next second she used it—

【Ding!】

A crisp notification, audible only to her, rang in her ears.

【HealsTheEntireServer】 froze in place.

She… she wasn’t dreaming, was she?

That sound…

Her trembling hand opened the quest panel.

A brand new quest lay quietly inside.

【Hidden Encounter: A Maiden’s Heart】

【Quest Description: You seem to have noticed that, behind that tightly closed window, a pair of lonely eyes is watching you. She seems to have something on her mind, yet is too shy to speak. Perhaps, a cup of warm 【Soothing Flower Tea】 might help her let down her guard and open her heart to you?】

【HealsTheEntireServer】’s eyes instantly reddened.

It really was… really was a hidden quest!

And that quest description…

“She has something on her mind…”

“Too shy to speak…”

“Let her lower her guard and open her heart…”

Those words pierced 【HealsTheEntireServer】’s heart like needles.

She had guessed right! Mophis Miss really was watching them! She really did have something weighing on her heart!

She did not need food.

She was… lonely! She needed comfort!

【HealsTheEntireServer】 felt she suddenly understood everything.

Why had Mad Blade triggered a quest? Because he had delivered lifesaving food, solving her survival problem!

Why was it now her turn? Because she had stayed here, keeping her company, letting her feel companionship, so she was willing to open her heart to her!

It all made sense!

Suppressing her inner joy and excitement, she carefully looked at the quest objective.

【Soothing Flower】?

She immediately searched for the material on the forums.

It was a rare herb that only grew in the 【Moon Whisper Forest】, in elven territory, appearing at night alongside Moonlight Leopards.

The gathering difficulty was extremely high, because Moonlight Leopards were level 35 elite monsters that appeared in groups.

And the tea master 【Grandma】 was a life NPC far away in the Newbie Village on the other side of the continent.

This quest was far more complicated—and more dangerous—than Mad Blade’s!

But 【HealsTheEntireServer】 did not hesitate at all.

For wife’s heart! Even fire and blades, she would charge through!

She did not announce it, but quietly slipped out of the crowd, crushing a precious return scroll.

She needed to organize people immediately and head to the 【Moon Whisper Forest】!

On the second floor of the library, behind the curtains.

Mophis watched as that little priestess vanished in a flash of white light, and nodded in satisfaction.

Good.

The fish had taken the bait.

She had chosen 【HealsTheEntireServer】 after careful thought.

First, the girl was kind and pure.

Having her trigger this “comfort” type of quest was the most logical, and also the easiest to convince other players.

Second, she was a priest, an irreplaceable healer in any team.

For her to take on this high-difficulty quest, she would inevitably seek guild help.

In this way, the quest’s influence would spread quickly.

Finally, and most importantly, she was a girl.

Mophis did not want to see another man like 【Mad Blade】 getting a quest and then bragging on the forums: “I’ve won my wife’s favor.”

Having a cute girl complete the quest and then share: “I comforted Mophis Miss, and she smiled at me”—wasn’t that a much more harmonious vibe?

Cheerfully, she opened the forums, ready to enjoy the play she had directed.

However, she had still underestimated the “perverted” level of these players.

Not even ten minutes after 【HealsTheEntireServer】 disappeared, someone among the “Sacred Stone researchers” in the backyard noticed something was off.

“Huh? Where’s that priest girl? She was here just a moment ago.”

“Looks like she returned to town. Maybe she couldn’t stay up.”

“No!” A detective-class player with the ID 【Detective Holmes Player】 suddenly stood up, looking serious.

“I had been using ‘Tracking’ on her. Her marker vanished suddenly—that means she used a return scroll! And right before she disappeared, she aimed at the second-floor window and used an ‘Observation’ skill!”

The whole place went silent.

Everyone’s gazes instantly turned to the detective player.

“You… what did you say?”

“She used ‘Observation’ on the window? Then returned to town?”

“Holy crap! Could it be…”

A terrifying yet extremely reasonable guess rose in everyone’s minds.

“She triggered it! She triggered a new hidden quest!”

“Oh my god! The trigger point isn’t the stone! It’s the window!”

“The trigger condition is… midnight, alone, gazing at the window, using the Observation skill!”

“Pfft—” Mophis, who had been drinking water, sprayed it all over the book in front of her.

No way?

They could deduce that too?

Were they players, or secret agents from some intelligence bureau?!

She didn’t even have time to be shocked before the backyard descended into total chaos.

“Quick! Try it!”

“Me, me! I came alone!”

“Get lost! I was standing here first!”

“Don’t push! Stop pushing! If you push any more, you’ll collapse the pavilion!”

The previously orderly scene instantly devolved into a madhouse.

Everyone crammed toward the “Sacred Stone,” lifted their heads, and frantically spammed the “Observation” skill at the second-floor window.

In that moment, hundreds of white lights flashed—the scene was more spectacular than a mage regiment casting Mass Flash together.

Mophis, peeking through the curtain crack, quickly shrank back in fright.

She felt like a little white rabbit surrounded by starving wolves.

Those “Observation” gazes seemed able to pierce the walls and strip her bare inside and out.

“T-too… too perverted…” she muttered softly.

Meanwhile, the players on the forum, already catching wind, had started a new wave of frenzy.

A post titled 【The Second Chosen One Has Appeared! Trigger Point Locked—Wife’s Window!】 shot to the front page in minutes.

“I knew it! I knew wife was watching us! Sob sob, love that goes both ways is too sweet!”

“Brothers, from today on, don’t worship the stone anymore! Worship the window! That window is the bridge connecting our hearts with wife’s!”

“Upstairs, your vision is too narrow! A bridge? That’s not a bridge—that’s wife’s eyes! Every day we pray to the window, it’s like staring into wife’s eyes!”

“Staring into her eyes… hehe… hehehe…”

“That creep laughing up there, drag him out for execution!”

“I have a bold idea! Since observing the window can trigger a quest, if we climb up to the window, could we trigger an even higher-tier quest? Like…【Helping Wife Mophis Wash Her Back】?”

“Holy crap! Are you the devil? But… I like it! Any thief pros who can climb walls? Let’s form a team!”

Reading these increasingly absurd posts, Mophis felt her blood pressure spike.

Wash… wash her back?

What the hell did these LSPs have in their heads?!

She swore she would never again underestimate the imagination of these players.

Right now, she only hoped 【HealsTheEntireServer】 could quickly complete her quest and shift these maniacs’ attention away.
