Player’s Guide to Raising a BUG Angel

Ch. 10

Chapter 10: The Birth of the Strongest Knight Order in the Whole Server

When the GMs were racking their brains over how to “appease” Mophis, the players’ world had already become something entirely different.

That post by 【HealsTheEntireServer】 was like a nuclear bomb, blasting open an unfathomably deep crater in both the forums and the entire game world.

The attributes of the epic equipment 【Prayer of the Moonlight Priest】 were studied word for word by analysts from major guilds.

The final conclusion was: this staff was at least three months ahead of the current version.

The special title 【Confidant of Mophis】, although it had no stat bonuses, carried an honor that surpassed any equipment.

Walking around the main city with that title guaranteed a 100% turn-back rate—countless players would fix their eyes on you with respect.

That feeling was better than being king.

But what drove the players completely mad was still that “nightgown benefit” video.

Tech-savvy players had enhanced the video into HD and slowed it down frame by frame.

Every micro-expression of Mophis, every inch of exposed skin, was magnified to the extreme.

“Brothers, I swear on my wife’s collarbone, I can play this game until the servers shut down!”

“I’ve already set the video as my dynamic wallpaper.

If I don’t watch it a hundred times a day, I feel uncomfortable all over.”

“You call that something? I’ve already contacted a figure manufacturer to custom-order a life-sized 1:1 ‘Mophis Nightgown Edition’ figurine out of my own pocket! Anyone want to crowdfund with me?”

“Me, me, me! Count me in! Money’s not a problem!”

The players’ passion had already evolved from simple online screen-licking into physical, real-life manifestations.

And inside the game, the Forgotten Library’s backyard had completely fallen.

That second-floor window had replaced the “Sacred Stone” and become the new “Holy Land.”

Day and night, twenty-four hours, the area below the window was surrounded layer upon layer by players.

They no longer made messy attempts to trigger quests like before.

Instead, an eerie tacit understanding had formed.

During the day, they quietly stood there, gazing up at the window like they were pilgrims.

Occasionally, whispers were exchanged, but always in the lowest voices.

“Bro, did you see that? The curtain just moved a little!”

“Really? Let me see! Is Wife about to get up?”

“Shh! Quiet! Don’t scare her!”

At midnight, the quest’s trigger period, the place became the liveliest moment of the day.

Yet this liveliness carried a sacred sense of order.

All players wanting to attempt to trigger the quest had to sign up in advance, and their qualifications would be reviewed by the “Holy Window Guarding Committee,” formed by guild leaders like 【Mad Blade】 and 【ILoveTomatoes】.

Only players with the highest “Contribution” toward Mophis would earn the precious chance to stand under the window and use the “Observe” skill.

So-called “Contribution” included but was not limited to: time spent guarding for 【Silent Defense】, resources donated to support groups, number of quality “Praise Wife” posts on the forums, and so on.

The establishment of this system directly gave birth to a brand new—and the single strongest—player organization in the entire 《Aincrad Era》: 【Mophis Wife Knights】.

This organization had no leader, no fixed structure.

It was spontaneously formed by all players across the server who adored Mophis.

Top guilds such as 【Battle Maniac Hall】 of 【Mad Blade】 and 【Immortal-Demon Residence】 of 【ILoveTomatoes】 served as the “Permanent Council” of the Knights, handling daily organization and management.

Their sole purpose was: to protect the best Wife in the world, Mophis!

Their slogan was: Wife’s smile, we shall guard it! Wife’s enemies, we shall trample them!

Their daily activities included:

1. Maintaining absolute silence within one kilometer around the library. Any monster or player daring to make noise would face the harshest punishment from the “Knights.”

2. Organizing teams to venture into high-level maps to strategically stockpile any material Mophis “might” need. For example, Moonlight Grass and Soothing Flower were already monopolized by them—none could be bought on the market.

3. Establishing the “Mophis Cultural Research Institute” on the forums, with departments like “Plot Analysis,” “Clothing Design,” “Dietary Research,” “Architectural Beautification,” etc., to research every possible way to give Mophis a better life.

For example, the tailoring players of the “Clothing Design Department” had already designed over a hundred clothing blueprints according to Mophis’ figure and temperament, ranging from casual wear to glamorous gowns.

The only problem troubling them now was not knowing what fabric Mophis preferred.

And the instigator of all this—Mophis herself—was lying on her bed, hiding under the quilt, looking utterly lifeless.

“Social anxiety’s going to kill me…”

She didn’t even dare go near the window anymore.

Because the moment she moved closer, even slightly, and the curtain shifted, a wave of suppressed yet extremely excited inhalations would rise from below.

It felt like being targeted by countless microscopes all at once, making her extremely uncomfortable.

She only wanted to get some food, make some clothes—how did it come to this?

A Knight Order?

A Research Institute?

Weren’t they way too idle?

“Grr…”

Her stomach grumbled.

Mophis sighed and climbed out of bed.

【Soothing Flower Tea】 was tasty, but not filling.

Her stockpile of 【Moonlight Grass】 was also nearly gone.

She was hungry again.

And indeed, she needed a new piece of clothing.

The nightgown she was wearing was comfortable, but she couldn’t wear it forever.

As for that old black long dress, she now found it unlucky just to look at it.

It seemed she had to “publish” another quest.

But in this situation, how?

The backyard was out of the question, the window was a forbidden zone.

She couldn’t just fling open the front door and say to the tens of thousands of players outside: “Um… I’m hungry, who’ll get me some food?”

That scene was too much to even imagine.

Mophis paced around the room, racking her brain.

Got it!

Her eyes landed on a long-forgotten function of the library—【Book Lending】.

The Forgotten Library had a book-lending system.

With a library card, one could borrow books from it.

But the dynasty had perished centuries ago, and library cards were long lost, leaving the system abandoned.

For Mophis, this “human-shaped BUG,” that was no problem.

She could exploit the code loophole, conjure a library card out of thin air, and hand it to some “lucky one.”

And the quest could be hidden inside the book!

This method was both discreet and perfectly suited to her “Librarian” identity.

It was flawless!

She immediately began searching the sea of code.

Soon, she found the relevant logic of 【Book Lending】 and discovered an excellent loophole.

She could set it so that when a book was returned, there was a very small chance of generating a temporary 【Beginner Library Card】.

Then she chose a book—《Introduction to Ancient Alchemy》.

This book had been knocked off a shelf earlier by a player during a library exploration.

Later, that group of players had been chased away by 【Mad Blade】 and the others, so the book had stayed on the floor.

Now, all she had to do was guide a player to “pick it up and return it to the shelf” to trigger this chain BUG.

A new quest was already forming in her mind.

【Hidden Encounter: Inheritance of Knowledge】

【Quest Description: You unintentionally helped the Librarian tidy up a book. As a reward, she seems willing to open a small part of the library’s secrets to you. This library card is the key.】

【Quest Objective: Use the 【Beginner Library Card】 to enter the library and find Miss Mophis.】

【Quest Reward: ???】

The quest description was extremely vague, and the reward was unknown.

But those five words—“enter the library”—were the deadliest temptation for the players outside!

It meant the very first chance to interact “face-to-face” with Mophis!

That chance alone was enough to drive any player mad!

After finishing all this, Mophis let out a long sigh of relief.

She could already imagine the terrifying frenzy when that library card appeared.

And at last, she would solve her food and clothing problems.

She walked to the window, carefully lifted a corner of the curtain, and looked down.

Below, a player with the ID 【Alchemy Genius】 was sitting idly against a pavilion pillar.

He was the one who had once tried to pour “Potion of Affection” over the “Sacred Stone.”

Since that failure, he had been staying here, experimenting endlessly, trying to build a “chemical bond” with Mophis through alchemy.

“Sigh, what does Wife actually like…” he muttered, resting his chin on his hand.

Mophis looked at him, and the corner of her lips curved slightly.

It was decided—he would be the next “scapegoat.”
