Chapter 474: Dandruff
"Whoa, don't!"
The Oracle took a deep breath and calmly said, "I still have Skill Items on me that can barely be used, which will be very helpful in our escape. Why don't you first check the security guard for any clues to unlock the passcode lock."
"Alright."
Li Cheng turned off the faucet, removed the silicone cup lid from the drain, and forcefully pulled the upper half of the security guard onto the bed's railing, searching through his pockets.
All the guard had on him were a walkie-talkie, a rubber baton, a pack of cigarettes and matches, a pencil, and a key that seemed to lead to an unknown lock.
From its size, the key obviously didn't match any handcuffs or shackles.
"This..."
Li Cheng frowned slightly, glancing at the Oracle, "Is your phase one task the same as mine, escaping from the Svip prison within twenty minutes?"
"Yes."
"That's strange then."
Li Cheng rubbed his chin, the blonde little girl in the mirror mirrored his confused expression.
The killing field would never issue a mission with certain death. No matter how absurd the task goal, there must always be one or more ways to clear it.
In other words, within the twenty-minute time limit, there must be some way for the Oracle to escape unscathed without affecting Li Cheng's own survival.
He thought for a moment, put down the guard, walked to the end of the corridor, and picked up the fashion magazine titled "Class."
The magazine was brand new, dated August 2009, mentioning that James Cameron's "Avatar" would premiere in North America in February 2010, with a predicted promotional expenditure of 150 million US Dollars.
Something felt off.
Li Cheng raised an eyebrow. If he remembered correctly, Avatar was released in North America on December 18, 2009, right before Christmas.
The highest-grossing periods in North America are usually the summer block (June-July), the fall block (Sept-Nov), or the winter block (December).
February is a peculiar time.
If something is unusual, there must be a reason. Li Cheng suppressed his doubts and continued flipping through the magazine but found nothing more out of the ordinary, except on the second to the last page, there was an English spelling game.
English uses a phonetic system based on the Latin alphabet. Through letter combinations, sounds are recorded, and spelling games have been a trend in North America, from children to adults.
This trend, to some extent, also reveals that English is a pile of shit language, with extremely chaotic spellings and imprecise expressions.
Massively borrowing vocabulary from ancient Germanic, French, Greek, Persian, and Indian Sanskrit language systems.
So whether it's native speakers of other languages or native English speakers, they must learn relevant professional English when studying professionally or reading papers.
Construction, chemical engineering, mechanical, internet, metallurgy, medicine....
It's like entering the cyberpunk era at a run – the industry barriers are so high, that outsiders feel like reading heavenly script even with textbooks, unnecessarily increasing learning costs.
Ahem, Li Cheng's grudges were so strong, definitely out of indignation, not because he was forced to read the code-like English dictionaries while using the Multi-threaded Brain Domain Method.
In short, the English spelling game in the magazine was not completed yet, with only one word on it.
Boobies, meaning booby (a large tropical seabird); breasts; fool; idiot.
The word was especially circled with a pencil by the security guard, showing slightly shaking strokes on the edge, proving the guard was in a good mood at that time.
"Uh... what does this mean?"
Li Cheng pondered without results, resting his ear against the security door leading to the upper floors.
The security door wasn't locked, and upon careful listening, he could vaguely hear music and the sound of people walking.
There were definitely people upstairs; going up now would be walking into a trap.
Li Cheng turned to the corridor, with numeral key locks on both sides of the cells, all being nine-digit locks and not alphabetic.
He thought for a bit, and softly asked the Oracle, "When the guard opened my cell, he entered a seven-digit number, right?"
"Yes."
The Oracle nodded, "Because the guard was so large, I couldn't see the exact numbers he entered, but I'm sure it was seven digits."
Seven digits...
Li Cheng took a deep breath, his mind racing, as he walked towards the initial cell, opening one window after another, peeping inside.
Unfortunately, the other eight single cells were empty, with no other kidnapped minor victims or useful items.
As time ticked by,
After exchanging information with the Oracle, Li Cheng suddenly noticed that the guard seemed like he hadn't washed his hair in days, his head full of dandruff.
In that instant, numerous shampoo commercials flashed through Li Cheng's mind.
Something about Adolf's powerful de-greasing, Bawang's anti-hair loss, hair gone without a trace, and dandruff even more prominent...
"Wait a minute, could it be..."
His expression was subtle, as he laboriously lifted the guard's body, dragged it out of the door, closed it again, and started rubbing his hands madly on the guard's scalp.
Dandruff fell like snowflakes onto the number keypad, a gentle blow, some dandruff flew off, while others stuck to the nine-grid numbers.
The dandruff stuck areas proved to be soaked with oil, regularly used.
The passcode for Li Cheng's cell was, 0, 1, 3, 5, 8.
Five numbers, a seven-digit code.
While dragging the guard's body, Li Cheng came to the Oracle's cell and repeated the process, scrapping off dandruff, resulting in the numbers being, 0, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7.
The two sets of numbers weren't the same. Li Cheng and the Oracle squinted slightly, thinking for a moment, then almost simultaneously said, "Boobies!"
Looking at each other, the shock was apparent in each other's eyes.
This guy's brain works quite fast.
Boobies, in full uppercase being BOOBIES,
At first glance has nothing to do with numbers, but if you rotate it 180°, upside down, these letters can be represented as 5318008 on the calculator's seven-segment display.
Li Cheng entered the password, only to hear a "click," as the initial cell opened in response.
With a grin, he turned towards the Oracle's room,
Entered 7734206.
This set of numbers equally corresponds to letters. When rotated 180°, it becomes English,
go 2 hell.
What the guard said to Li Cheng before his death, "go to hell," wasn't actually cursing him to die, but really answering Li Cheng's question about the opposite cell's passcode.
Turns out this glutton was quite honest.
"Well, it's not like anyone wanted this to happen, bro, just say it a bit earlier next time, eh,"
Li Cheng murmured in a TVB accent, closing the guard's eyes that couldn't rest in peace, then pulled open the Oracle's cell door.
"Phew, thanks, brother."
Behind the cell door, just like him, the Oracle was an eight or nine-year-old delicate little girl.
The difference was that the Oracle had long black hair, fairer skin, and apparently atrophied legs. A wheelchair sat beside the bed.
"Let's reintroduce myself, Oracle, Level 28 Lone Wolf player, living a recluse life, having joined no guild."
The Oracle reached out and shook hands with Li Cheng, with a subtle expression, "The little girl I'm playing is paralyzed and needs a wheelchair."
