Chapter 2: Chapter 2
My eyes snap open.
For a second, I don't know where I am—until I realize I'm staring at my ceiling, lying flat on my back in my apartment. My limbs feel heavy, but there's no pain. Just a lingering warmth, like my body is still buzzing with the mana I absorbed.
I sit up, rubbing my face. I must've blacked out the second I got back.
I can feel the mana inside me—stronger, richer, deeper. Each type pulses within me like a living force waiting to be used. White, Blue, Black, Red, Green. All of it.
I check the time—early morning.
I take a deep breath and reach inward. Like a wave crashing through me, my mana surges back to full capacity. It's like every bit of power I used yesterday has been completely restored.
Midnight restoration.
So, it wasn't a one-time thing. My mana always resets after midnight.
That changes everything.
If I can absorb mana to expand my pool permanently and get it all back every day, then…
I grin. Then I need more.
I pull up a world map, staring at it for a long moment.
Indonesia was just the beginning. There have to be other places—more powerful lands, more ancient sites bursting with mana.
I tap my fingers against the table, thinking. Where should I go next? I've already covered Indonesia, but the world is massive. There are so many options.
I glance at my hands, feeling the power coursing through me.
Wherever I go next, one thing is certain—I'm not stopping until I've gathered as much mana as possible.
Now, I just need to decide where to go first. My Black Mana is the lowest at the moment, and I need to go to a place where I can gather them. I look at the world map and smile a little when my gaze lands on Egypt. This is a place rich with history and places that are full of death.
I grin and take a deep breath.
I close my eyes and focus.
The Pyramid of Giza. A place of kings and gods. A tomb that has stood the test of time, filled with secrets, death, and divinity. A land steeped in White and Black Mana.
I reach for it.
The world twists.
Space bends around me, folding like a puzzle being solved in reverse—
Then I'm falling.
Shit.
The hot desert air rushes past me as I plummet. The golden sands of Egypt spread beneath me like an endless sea, and below me—far too close—stands the Great Pyramid itself.
I overshot. I'm too high.
Panic hits for a split second, but I shove it down. Think!
I have mana now. I can use it.
I pull from my Blue Mana. I consume five blue mana and feel my body covered by a blanket of power. A second later, I stop midair and slowly descend to the peak of the pyramid. I let out a breath, shaking my head.
"Okay. That was close. I know that my body is stronger now because of my power, but I don't want to test it. At least for now."
I glance around, taking in the vast desert, the towering structures, and the endless sky. I can feel the weight of the place—the ancient energy woven into the land itself.
This is a place of gods and death.
And it's time for me to claim its mana.
I take a slow breath, standing at the peak of the Great Pyramid.
The moment I reach out, I feel it—a deep, ancient presence buried in the stones, in the very air. This is a land where gods were once worshiped, where rulers sought eternity, where death and divinity intertwined.
And I pull.
The air trembles. Power surges through me, flowing like a torrent of water.
"Holy shit!"
I shout in surprise as I get thirty white mana and thirty-five black mana in a single tap.
I exhale, my entire body buzzing with new strength. Egypt is a treasure trove of mana. But this is just the beginning. I am already thinking of a few places to visit in Egypt to gather more. I take a deep breath and teleport to the Valley of the Kings.
Like before, I can feel mana in the area and reach out and pull.
Black Mana floods into me. It's cold, weighty, and eternal. The power of the dead, those who ruled and fell, those who still exist in spirit even as their bodies crumble into dust.
Then, beneath it, there's something else—White Mana. A remnant of the faith and rituals that honored these kings, who sought to preserve their souls in the afterlife.
I release a little shudder because I get forty Black Mana and twenty White Mana from a single pull.
I steady myself, exhaling. My body is buzzing, my mind racing.
I can feel the burden of teleporting from Indonesia to Egypt creeping toward me. However, I can still go because there's still more mana to claim. Once again, I jump and arrive at my next target.
The next place surprises me.
The Nile River stretches endlessly, the heart of Egypt, the source of life itself. Its waters have fed civilizations, carried kings, and flowed unchanged for thousands of years. It's different from the other places I've tapped into.
There is no death here. No ruins or decay. Only movement. Change. Continuity.
I reach out.
A massive surge of Blue and Green Mana washes into me.
"Thirty-five blue mana and thirty green mana."
I am not done. I jump into my next target, Lake Nasser.
Lake Nasser is different.
It is not ancient like the Nile. It is man-made—a reservoir created by the Aswan High Dam.
But mana still lingers here.
Blue Mana is drawn from the vast waters, and White Mana is from the stability and control humans impose upon nature. I get twenty Blue Mana and 15 White Mana.
When I'm done, I feel it—the weight of my teleportation using my planeswalker power instead of a spell.
Indonesia to Egypt wasn't a short jump. The more I teleport, the more I understand the cost.
I can handle short bursts, but traveling between continents? That's a different story.
I roll my shoulders, already making my decision. I need to rest.
And I need a place where no one can bother me. I focus one last time, locking onto a remote desert.
With a final surge of mana, I teleport away.
The Great Sand Sea stretches before me—vast, empty, and silent.
I land on soft dunes, the golden sand shifting under my weight. The sky is a clear, endless blue, and the only sound is the whisper of the wind.
I let out a slow breath. I made it.
But I'm pushing my limit.
I can feel it in my bones—the exhaustion creeping in, the heavy weight of using my planeswalker power to teleport across continents. If I try to teleport again too soon, I'll just collapse, at least without using my mana and only using my pure power.
I need to rest for a few hours.
But that doesn't mean I'm wasting time.
I spread my fingers and let mana flow through me. It's time to see what I can really do.
