Eunhong finally frowned at the playful tone. He abruptly turned and ran up to the second floor where the computer was. He wondered what was going on. What was that approach about, and why didn’t anything happen? What was with that drawling tone?
Eunhong blushed, not knowing how to react. He felt like he was being drawn in. His confused feelings were reflected in his heavy footsteps as he walked.
The red-capped character on the screen had been stupidly jumping in one place for a while. In truth, the person holding the controller didn’t have the capacity to play, but neither the observer nor the player noticed this.
Eunhong sat at the desk, turned on the computer, and opened the work file downloaded from the cloud. Regardless of how Jaeha had managed to arrange it, the program was meticulously updated to the latest version. Everything from the equipment’s software drivers to even the monitor brightness was carefully set up. There was nothing left for Eunhong to adjust.
From what Eunhong knew, Jaeha had always been like this with him. He didn’t just toss him what he needed and call it done. He was attentive and considerate. And Eunhong knew well that Jaeha’s willingness to easily share whatever he had was limited to him alone.
In the past, he had thought it was because they had spent their childhood together, or because of Jaeha’s complicated background, or because he was his only friend. But after experiencing Jaeha’s rut and the kiss, Eunhong’s thoughts became complicated. No matter how dense he might be, he couldn’t fail to understand the meaning behind all those actions.
The changing relationship with Jaeha made Eunhong both frightened and excited. But if he had to pick the strongest emotion, it would be utter bewilderment. For Eunhong, this was a change in their relationship that he was considering for the first time in over 20 years.
He and Jaeha were a beta and an alpha, so they had never even considered the possibility of dating before. Even when others teased them for being inseparable, they would brush it off without a second thought.
But now the situation had changed. Just as he caught a glimpse of Jaeha’s feelings, he had manifested. Before he could even decide how he felt, the powerful substance of pheromones had come between them.
“How can I think rationally when just looking at him makes me go into heat? It’s not like my brain is in my balls…”
Moreover, there was still an unresolved issue.
Find out what happened on Christmas…
Eunhong’s brow furrowed slightly as he looked at the screen. He couldn’t even remember what he himself had done on Christmas, let alone figure out what Jaeha had done.
Eunhong nervously worked on the details of a corner of the drawing, a place that wasn’t even easily visible. Perhaps if he could remember everything that happened to him on Christmas, his relationship with Jaeha would become clearer. Right now, he felt as vague and unclear as a drawing lacking in details. Just as he had manifested more than a decade later than most people and become a less mature omega, his feelings also lacked certainty.
“It’s not that I don’t like it…”
“What don’t you like?”
Eunhong was startled by the shadow that suddenly appeared beside him. His eyes widened in surprise. Today, Jaeha was bad for his heart in many ways. Eunhong pressed his left hand against his pounding chest.
“You… From now on, make a sound from at least a meter away when you approach me.”
“Hmm… Should we set a catchphrase too?”
Eunhong gritted his teeth at Jaeha’s smooth comeback. Jaeha placed the mug and small plate he had brought on the desk. The mug contained warm cafe latte, and the pretty patterned plate held homemade cookies.
Eunhong stuffed a cookie into his mouth, his cheeks puffed out sulkily. The chewy cranberry cookie was delicious, despite his mixed feelings. His expression softened without him realizing it.
Jaeha sat half-perched on the desk, looking down at Eunhong as he munched on the cookie.
“It’s pretty.”
“……”
“The drawing, I mean. The character you drew is pretty.”
Jaeha made this excuse, perhaps aware of Eunhong’s raised eyebrows and pouty look.
An awkward silence fell as they crunched on the cookies. The current situation was awkward for both of them. The only difference was that one’s memory stopped at the kiss, while the other held memories beyond that. Jaeha cleared his throat and broke the silence.
“Ahem. Is your work schedule tight?”
“Ah, why?”
Eunhong’s round eyes looked up at Jaeha questioningly. Jaeha, momentarily at a loss for words, cleared his throat again and continued.
“Well, since you have a lot of vacation days left…”
Eunhong counted on his fingers as he replied.
“Come to think of it, I have five days left.”
“Right, so why don’t we go on a trip?”
Since it’s the end of the year… Jaeha trailed off, gauging Eunhong’s reaction. He was worried that Eunhong might get angry, considering he had missed Christmas and the musical due to his manifestation, and had experienced a shocking event.
“A trip?”
“Yeah. We can eat good food, you can get some fresh air… and since it’s the new year, we can watch the sunrise.”
Jaeha leaned his body slightly against Eunhong’s shoulder as he looked at the monitor to estimate the dates, subtly pleading.
“Hm? What do you think?”
In fact, traveling with Jaeha wasn’t a big deal as it was almost an annual event. Since reuniting as adults, they had gone on trips together three or four times a year. Eunhong didn’t think much of it.
It was the end of the year, and even though he was resting due to his manifestation, he didn’t feel any major discomfort in his body, so the travel proposal was very tempting. A week-long vacation was a rare opportunity for an office worker. Besides, who would refuse a trip?
So Eunhong replied, “Alright then.” But a few hours later, he was pulling his hair out, regretting his answer.
The reason being…
As he lay in bed trying to sleep, he suddenly remembered what Jaeha had said. The words that had taken his breath away at the convenience store…
‘Can I do more?’
Suddenly, Eunhong became suspicious of the purpose of the trip. Moreover, he was no longer a beta but an omega now. Was Jaeha deeply aware of this? In fact, the very act of attaching special meaning to a trip while living in the same house was evidence of wavering emotions, but Eunhong’s thoughts didn’t reach that far at the moment.
Eunhong abruptly sat up in bed. Was Jaeha’s question still valid? Judging by his actions, it seemed so. He should ask where they were planning to go. Eunhong was about to rush out of the room but stopped in his tracks.
He recalled the places they had traveled together. Due to Jaeha’s privacy concerns, they often stayed in luxurious accommodations. They had never been to cheap guesthouses or motels, mostly using hotels operated by the group, villas, or houses owned by the family.
What was the atmosphere like when they traveled?
He had never worried about where they were going, what they were doing, whether the accommodation had two or three rooms, how many beds there were, or what the design was like. They had truly gone on trips without a care in the world, and when they got very drunk, they even slept in the same bed. Looking back, they had really been uninhibited.
“It would be stranger to ask now.”
Lying back down on the bed, Eunhong tugged at his hair in worry. Did Jaeha have no awareness that he was an omega now? What had been going through your mind all this time?
He must have dozed off. Eunhong woke up feeling the mattress beside his face sink and tilt. White forearms were planted on either side of his head. As he turned his head to lie face up, he saw two eyes looking down at him. Even in the pitch darkness, he could clearly sense the presence of what had climbed on top of him.
“…Jaeha?”
Jaeha silently pulled up the corners of his mouth in a deep smile. His eyes shone brightly. In the darkness, Jaeha’s pheromones were more distinct than ever before. For some reason, Eunhong felt a tingling below his waist and squirmed.
“What, what are you doing? Why are you here in the middle of the night… Ah!”
Eunhong opened his mouth at the silent gaze looking down at him, but couldn’t finish his sentence. Jaeha had lowered his face and swallowed his lips.
Eunhong’s eyes widened. Jaeha, having captured Eunhong’s lips, stirred inside relentlessly. Saliva trickled down from the parted lips. After frantically exploring the inside of his mouth with his tongue for a moment, Jaeha lifted Eunhong’s pajamas and thrust his head in. Eunhong’s breath burst out urgently, matching Jaeha’s rough and unskilled quick movements. Hot breath escaped from lips that traced up his side, then suddenly bit his chest.
“Ugh!”
Stars exploded before his eyes. His waist jerked up involuntarily. Eunhong vividly heard an unfamiliar moan resonating in his throat.
“Jaeha, what are, what are you doing? Ah…”
Jaeha held onto Eunhong’s body, biting and sucking various places as if tasting him. There was no response, and Eunhong suddenly felt scared at the silence. The sensation of marks being left on his skin was vivid. He tried to pull Jaeha’s head with trembling hands, but it was futile. Strangely, he couldn’t muster any strength in his body.
When Jaeha’s hands pulled down his pants, Eunhong burst into tears. A sensation beyond his threshold ran down his spine. His thighs trembled uncontrollably. Eunhong looked down at Jaeha with eyes full of fear. The moment he met those gleaming black eyes, he forgot to breathe.
At that moment, Jaeha swallowed Eunhong.
