Chapter 29 Assassination
"We've discussed it, and this contract needs some changes. Three things: I want the management rights of one bar, and you can fully manage the other bar. As for the other place, don't put my name as the license holder, and I want my brother to manage things internally."
"This..."
Ouyang Xiong's conditions weren't much different from what the other party had just proposed, but the other party seemed troubled. Could it be that they were really digging a trap for him, as that young brother mentioned?
"Hey, Brother Xiong, this is quite troublesome, and there's no difference from before. Moreover, drafting a new contract takes a lot of time. If it's inconvenient, I can agree verbally, and after we start making profits, we can give Brother Xiong a five percent bonus. What do you think..."
"Go back and tell Lei Hu about my conditions, Fei, see our guest out." Talking more was useless, Ouyang Xiong already confirmed Xiaofan's suspicion, luckily this little guy was here today.
"If Brother Xiong insists, then I'll run another errand, sorry to bother you today, I'll take my leave first."
The man tidied up the contract and left without a word of complaint, but Xiaofan caught a hint of something strange in his eyes.
"Your name is Ye Xiaofan, isn't it?" After the man left, Ouyang Xiong asked Xiaofan.
"Yes, boss."
"Hey, don't call me boss, you can call me Brother Xiong like them. From today on, I recognize you as my brother, and if you need help, feel free to come to me. If you can't find me, look for Fei or Long." Ouyang Xiong promised heartily.
"Thank you, Brother Xiong." Xiaofan wasn't overly happy about the recognition; after all, he was just a student, and it felt somewhat inappropriate to be calling underworld figures as brothers.
"Come on, I'll take you down to meet the other brothers. You're a talent, and I, Ouyang Xiong, am exactly in need of someone like you." As Ouyang Xiong said this, he put his arm around Xiaofan's shoulder and cheerfully walked out of the room.
There was a private elevator on the fourth floor, which was generally only used when Ouyang Xiong was present. The group of four entered the elevator and went to the second floor, clearly indicating Ouyang Xiong wanted to thank Xiaofan meaningfully. Their way of showing gratitude was undoubtedly to have a good time.
"Bro, Lei Hu won't let this go easily, will he? Is it still necessary to discuss this business?" Fei asked just as they entered the elevator.
"Screw him, have the brothers hold Sichuan North Road for the time being. If anyone tries to make a move on my turf, they're asking for death."
'Ding.'
The elevator unexpectedly stopped on the third floor, interrupting their conversation.
"These bastards, didn't I tell them not to use this elevator indiscriminately?" Fei cursed fiercely.
But when the elevator door opened, it wasn't the familiar brothers standing outside.
Four people, two men and two women, stood outside the elevator, arms around each other and giggling intimately. It was obvious they were drunk and looking for fun.
If they weren't brothers, they were guests, and Ouyang Xiong had no reason not to let guests into the elevator.
However, Xiaofan felt differently. As soon as the elevator doors opened, something felt off. He had been on the third floor earlier, and there should have been many people around, so why was it suddenly so quiet? Furthermore, these two men seemed drunk, but their eyes were sharp as they assessed the elevator's occupants while entering.
'Whoosh.'
In a split second, Xiaofan shrugged off Ouyang Xiong's arm from his shoulder, lunging forward to kick one of the men viciously in the stomach.
'Clang'—a blade dropped to the ground as the man fell.
Before Ouyang Xiong and Fei could react, Xiaofan was already pouncing on another man.
"Close the elevator, there's an ambush outside."
No one can perfectly hide the murderous intent in their eyes. In that cramped space, if they launched an attack on Ouyang Xiong, standing close, he might get hurt. To avoid injury, he needed to strike first.
Sure enough, after Xiaofan took down two men, five more emerged with knives from the side.
"Damn it. Long, protect Brother Xiong, I'll go save Xiaofan." Fei suddenly rushed out of the elevator, sprinting toward Xiaofan, who was surrounded, delivering a flying kick that sent one attacker two meters away.
What is loyalty? The street thugs and the soldiers in the army best define this word.
Fei was Ouyang Xiong's number one hand, yet he charged out to help a newly acquainted brother without hesitation. It was definitely not a coincidence.
Long held Ouyang Xiong firmly in the elevator, not allowing him to step out. Only after the door closed did he take out his phone to call for backup.
But Xiaofan and Fei were already in the midst of a fierce battle.
"Wow, kid, I didn't expect it; you're really good at this." Fei exclaimed as Xiaofan took down another opponent.
"Compared to Brother Fei, I'm far behind."
"Hey kid, I like you."
If facing five knife-wielding opponents meant inevitable defeat for Xiaofan, then Fei's arrival significantly eased his burden. If only he could set down the weight on his shoulders.
'Whoosh.'
In a moment of carelessness, Xiaofan's left arm was slashed, but he endured the pain, disarmed his attacker, and delivered a severe shoulder throw.
"Damn it!" Fei, a battle-hardened warrior, managed to conquer the last two opponents but suffered a deep cut on his thigh.
Both bloodied and exhausted, they sat on the ground, breathing heavily, exchanging glances, and bursting into laughter.
Shaking his head, Fei gave Xiaofan a thumbs-up, holding it steadfast.
Moments later, the venue's enforcers rushed to the third floor. It turned out that earlier, there was trouble downstairs, drawing them all away, leaving the third floor vulnerable to the ambush.
"Bastards, what the hell are you doing? Does it take a dozen people to handle two troublemakers?" Long berated his subordinates furiously.
Back on the fourth floor, Fei and Xiaofan both underwent simple bandaging. The sudden chaos certainly caused quite a stir in the place.
As the boss, Ouyang Xiong needed to appear in person to prevent others from thinking he was scared. Once he finished dealing with matters on hand, he quickly went to the fourth floor, eager to properly thank this new young person.
Today, Ouyang Xiong indeed encountered a blessing in disguise. Even if the person was just an eighteen-year-old high school student, he was determined to find a way to keep this student and make him a brother.
