Percy's Pokemon Adventure

Chapter 52: Chapter 51

Percy had awoken at about 8 in the morning. Like the other days he had slept in this house he had been waken up by a child crawling on top of him. He repeated his normal morning routine that ended with Percy being told that the Furret usually attack in the morning causing him to run out the house and to the Rangers office.

Once he arrived he went through a similar process where he was sorted into a group of people led by a Ranger. This time he had people who had brains and no large problems arose during the defense against the Sentret and Furret.

Compared to the other day it was cake work and Crash and Fúria didn't have to go against a battalion of Pokémon themselves. Crash just had to use range moves to crowd control while Fúria used her assortment of moves and type advantage to quickly wipe out the Furret.

The other members on the team did a good job of attracting agro and maintaining steady damage output. No one on the team was seriously injured and they came out with one of the most perfect performances. Percy thanked the people on his team and left back to Ishigami's house.

He didn't bother checking his progress with the megastones since he didn't think he did enough to earn anything. His Pokémon were only slightly tired and would recover by the end of the day.

Percy learned that it was indeed the woman that attacked the Pokémon center that had ended up dying of head trauma. Also the nurses and receptionist made full recoveries which made Percy happy.

He was nervous for the receptionists health since she was bitten in the neck and her blood had been tainted with poison close to her head. But Percy had acted quickly and she's okay.

Once Percy got back to the house he decided to do some research on something that had been bothering him. Way back when he received the Wurmple from the Honey Clan he notice that the Wurmples had the description 'Children of the Royal Dustox/Beautifly'.

Before Percy didn't ask Xavier to avoid looking dumb but now he wanted to know what that meant. When he looked up Royal Pokémon he was greeted by a very large and extensive research in the topic conducted by Professor Oak and other big scientists.

A Royal Pokémon was a natural process in which over time a Pokémon develops into a different slightly genetically mutated version of itself. For example the only Pokémon Percy had seen that was a full Royal Pokémon was the Dustox.

It's pigmentation had been changed and small patterns on its body made it blend into the darkness more. A crown of antennae circled its head which is a common factor in all Royal Pokémon.

In general the Pokémon screamed intelligence and experience when Percy had met it. Percy had seen Pokémon that are currently going through the process of becoming Royal. For example Hunters Scyther and Heunings Leavanny were both becoming Royal Pokémon.

Percy knew from the odd differences in the normal species he had seen on the bodies of the Pokémon. The Royal form of Pokémon grant it extra control over other Pokémon below it and much more strength than if it wasn't Royal.

The biggest difference is intelligence and genetic differences that have come with the form. Then Percy read up on the process to become a Royal Pokémon. Through research and observation an article was posted by Professor Oak as well as other well known people of science.

The article and research detailed that there are multiple ways for a Pokémon to become Royal. One of the most common ways among trainers is to just defeat enough Pokémon.

When a Pokémon defeats uncountable amounts of Pokémon, it's genes will slowly change over time. It's thought that a Pokémon will absorb a very small amount of energy from the enemy Pokémon every time it defeats something, eventually causing a gene mutation.

The research has shown that different factors of the Pokémon defeated speed up or slow down the transformation. For example the weaker the Pokémon defeated the weaker the change is, but a strong Pokémon would make a bigger difference.

Also Pokémon that are the same species make a bigger difference by a significant amount. According to calculations made by Professor Oak, 'It seems when a Pokémon defeats another Pokémon of similar species the increase in genetic change is significantly different. Our measurements see it as about 10 times more effective.'

Percy continued to read through the article. It stated that there was another way for a Pokémon's genes to change. If a Pokémon is worshipped or respected by a bunch of Pokémon by the Pokémon's own will, then the process will be sped up.

For example the Fearow that Percy, Jasper, and Ash had seen leading the Fearow colony, would eventually become a royal Pokémon if it stayed in power. The exact reason is unknown to humanity why the phenomenon happens.

When a Royal Pokémon has a child it has a much easier time becoming royal itself. So Percy knew that his Wurmple would have a easier time becoming Royal. Suddenly Ishigami entered the room Percy was chilling in and greeted Percy. "Hello. You ready for tonight." Ishigami said.

Percy nodded and motioned to the chair next to him. "Let's plan what we are going to do."

At about 7:30 that night, Percy and Ishigami left the house under the cover of darkness. Both of them were dressed in black and meshed with their surroundings as they made their way toward the mining outpost in the middle of the town.

Percy and Ishigami had talked for a long time about their approach to the situation. Eventually they settled on the mindset that the miners that are keeping watch around the stock of megastones will be an important piece of a successful defense.

There was simply no way Ishigami and Percy could defeat that many people. Even if they were ambushing the enemy they would pick off 5 at most before the surprise would go away. Percys goal was to stop the attempt not completely destroy the enemy.

So as long as the attempt was thwarted his goal would be complete and the dying town would be able to survive. He was certain that the town wouldn't survive if it's biggest asset was stolen.

Their strategy consisted of Ishigamis Pokémon targeting trainers since they are ghost type. Ghost type Pokémon are really strong in the Pokémon world and can do many things other Pokémon can't.

For example a Ghost type Pokémon can enter a state that makes them invulnerable to most things. Though their affect on their surroundings in that state is minimal they can become invulnerable for a few moments during intense moments.

The ideal first steps the boys should take is defeating the trainers before anything else. Ishigami would direct his Pokémon to stealthily suck the energy from the trainers. From what Percy knows most of Team Rocket members are not good people who are unmotivated and lazy.

So most of them would rely on Pokémon and can't avoid Haunter and Duskull. He also knows their Pokémon don't have any interest in protecting their trainers and would leave if given the chance.

Percys job was to try his hardest to destroy their confidence and cause the members to run in fear. His plan consisted of specifically targeting the bigger figures in the small group of criminals and obliterating them completely destroying their confidence.

As long as his Pokémon delayed their Pokémon, Percy was confident in his hand to hand combat. Or hatchet to face combat. When they first thought of a plan they wanted to warn the miners but after some thought they decided against it.

If Team Rocket was half serious about the operation they would have scouts watching the post 24/7. When Percy would warn the miners the scouts would see and Team Rocket might temporarily call off the operation.

Ishigami and Percy walked in the shadows of the buildings that lined the dirt road as they made their way to the center of town. At the center of the town there was an entrance to a large mining system managed by a conglomerate of miners.

Only a couple meters into the entrance there is a secured safe protected by four miners that are slightly stronger than average people. From what Percy has discovered they stand around the safe from 7pm to 2 in the morning and then a new group of miners will take their spot.

Percy had seen the majority of Pokémon the miners have are ground or rock type. Their levels mainly consisted of 25-27 with some outliers here and there. The ground types should be strong against the Team Rocket members poison Pokémon.

It seemed like there were a few Pokémon that all Team Rocket members have. Spearow, Ekans, Koffing, Rattata have been a common factor in the Team Rocket members that Percy had seen.

He had seen members with Pokémon that Percy identified as wildly caught from their poor grooming. Many trainers discriminate against Pokémon that they catch that aren't their starters.

Only weak and low quality Pokémon were caught by the members. Percy and Ishigami remained silent on their solemn walk toward the middle of the town. Their footsteps made little sound and their eyes reflected focus and intensity.

When they began to near the mine entrance they walked slowly and released their Pokémon. Their Pokémon knew what to do since they had came up with the plan hours earlier. Ishigamis Haunter and Duskull both turned somewhat translucent and faded through buildings out of sight.

Only Crash, Fúria and Jormun (Croconaw, Mankey, Ekans) were out. Percy had little hope Ekans could do much against Team Rockets Pokémon but she could attack trainers well enough.

Crash and Fúria buffed themselves to the max with their moves and followed as quietly as they could. Percy and Ishigami turned a corner where they saw a empty ring of buildings with a mineshaft in the middle of it. Percy and Ishigami stopped and pressed themselves against a wall. A shadow casted from the moonlight covered them making them invisible to someone not specifically looking in the shadow of a random wooden building.

Their eyes scanned the other alleys and roads that led to the mineshaft but saw only shadows. 4 adult men stood in varying positions of alertness just outside of the mineshaft. A Graveller, Diglett, Sandslash, and a Roggenrola stood next to each of the men.

A Roggenrola was actually a pretty rare find in this area of Kanto or Kanto in general. One doesn't really find rare Pokémon this early in the trainer circuit. The men seemed to be very tired and had specifically woken up and started their watch only 45 minutes ago.

At the moment it's 7:45 and Team Rocket is supposed to attack at 8. Percy knew that there was Team Rocket members hiding somewhere and watching the miners right now but there wasn't much he could do at the moment.

Even if he sensed them with his aura he would have to isolate them and defeat them quickly while being quiet. There's too many variables that could lead to Team Rocket rescheduling the attack which wouldn't be good for the town.

Especially seeing how the security is so poorly trained and managed. Percy shouldn't have been able to find the time in which their shifts change since it could be a better time to attack and steal. All he had to do was politely ask a miner when the shifts were and he got all the information he needed.

If Team Rocket decided to attack at just the right time it might be significantly easier. It's odd that the security was poor since they were guarding millions of pokedollars. But a conglomerate of poor miners that quit their previous jobs to come for better opportunities weren't the smartest in the world.

It's a miracle they hadn't been robbed yet and Percy only thought because it was too hard for criminals to get past the aggressive Pokémon around the town.

Percy had to battle at least 30 some Pokémon to make his way here and that was exhausting. Only strong individuals and big groups could make it to the town with no serious injuries or casualties. "Ishigami." Percy quietly whispered.

"Huh."

"Are they coming from Oakdale?" Percy asked.

"I don't know. Marcus said it would be rough for him to bring all of them to this town in 1 day. It's possible they won't be here." Ishigami replied.

Silence resumed as they each thought of their own actions to come. Percy lost himself in his thoughts 15 minutes quickly passed and it was time for Team Rocket to attack. The second it turned 8 o'clock a purple smog came from the surrounding roads and alleys quickly making its way to the miners. Percys eyes widened as the battle began.
