Peacekeeper's Wrath

Chapter 24: vol.1 SS.2 To my dear Frye (Marquez's side story)

"Please give me your leftover!" I pleaded, reaching out to an aristocratic elf.

My clothes were tattered, revealing some of my skeletal body. My hungry stomach was begging for salvation as it rumbled around.

The elf girl pushed me down, narrowing her eyes. "Get away from me, pathetic brats!"

My small, thin body stumbled against the wall as I fell. I glanced at the sky, wondering how I was supposed to find edible food for my crying stomach.

The rays of the sun struck my body with warmth and a welcoming gaze. I stood up and looked at the elf's back. "Please give me a little money to buy some snacks," I begged, kneeling down.

I heard the echo of a coin rolling on the ground. Seeing the three bronze coins, I felt like I was already a millionaire. I quickly snatched them and put them in my pocket. "Thank you very much," I said, bowing my head.

"Just go away and don't ever bother me again, pathetic elf." The girl muttered as she walked away. I snapped my head up and walked towards the nearest store.

I passed the solemn and dark road. Other elves, wearing the same tattered clothes as me, gazed at me with macabre eyes. A maple leaf slowly drifted down as five men surrounded me. I glanced at their ruthless eyes, seeing this worthless action.

"Kid, give me your money!" The elf stood in front of me and grabbed my collar. He pressed me against the corner of the dark alley.

Another bastard elf seized and grasped my pocket. "Tsk, where's your money?" he uttered, punching my face. A wide grin emerged on my face as I managed to swallow the coins and hide them in my stomach.

"This pathetic brat didn't bring any money?" The elf shouted, glancing at the elf sitting in the bar, glaring with cold eyes.

The elf stood up and snatched me away from the other man. He glazed at my eyes, peeling away the pain inside my head.

"You have money, don't you?" He pressed, choking my neck. "Give it to me, and I will guarantee your life!" he added, tightly smacking my stomach.

"I don't really have money! Let me go already!" I shouted, begging him to stop.

He smirked out of thin air and struck my stomach hard. The sudden impact reached my gut, and liquid came out of my belly. The three bronze coins, silently hiding in my stomach, were forced out. I quickly felt dizzy and kneeled down on the dirty ground.

My vision became blurry, and pain engulfed me. The ruthless elves kicked me away and left, leaving me with many bruises and wounds.

"Come back here, and bring more money next time!" The elf muttered, smacking my head.

They left like trash in the junk, forging my anger and frustration. Throughout the day, I only found some daring leftovers to eat, and they were already snatched by other hungry children.

All the aristocracy and the plebeians are always the same. They are greedy creatures who only think about themselves. Although I am also the same, I always feel suppressed by others.

I stood frozen, glancing at the fruit in the stall, imagining the sweet taste of the mangoes and the creamy taste of the avocados. The smell of the fried and grilled meats swallowed my mind, taking me to a place of fullness.

I rubbed my crying stomach, trying to calm it down. A girl with silver hair and lavender eyes offered me a piece of grilled meat. My focus quickly shifted to the food as my saliva dripped out of my mouth. The smell struck me, arousing my stomach.

I gazed at the girl, trying to hide my hungry eyes. "Are you really offering this to me?" I asked, trying to understand her intentions.

"Just take it! I have many in my left arms!" She explained, glancing at my pupils.

"Tha..." Before I finished my sentence, she put the meat inside my mouth, almost choking me.

"How is it? How is it? Delicious, right?" She mumbled, biting my leftover.

I was taken aback by her sudden action. Now she was putting her leftover in my mouth. "Wait..." I muttered, pushing away her food.

"Oy... don't you like it? You need a punishment!" She muttered, placing a hurdle of grilled meats in my mouth. She forced me to eat them alone. I almost lost my life because of her. I wondered what this girl was doing here and why she was feeding a poor kid like me. I didn't have the courage to ask her because I felt bad for the food I ate.

She dragged my hands, placing me by her side. Although I didn't know her, I felt nervous being dragged by a girl, so I snapped my hands out of hers.

"What the hell are you, and where are you taking me?" I asked, placing my suspicion ahead.

"Rude! Rude! That's very rude. I just wanted to take you to the meat stall," she uttered, grabbing my hands again.

"Meat? What for, and who are you?" I pressed. "Why would an aristocratic brat like you give me meat? Do you want to poison me?"

"You're wrong! I'm a meat lover!" She muttered.

"Hah? That's not what I'm asking..." I muttered, glancing at the four knights who were running towards our position.

She quickly held my hand and rushed over to hide. "What the hell did you do? Don't tell me you're a thief?" I muttered.

"No!... But something like that!" She mumbled, crossing to the edge of the road.

"You're a criminal! Let me go!"

"We are criminals."

"Hah?" My eyes widened. Hearing the voice of the knights made me tremble.

"Can't you see, they're chasing us!" She muttered while laughing.

"Us? I'm not your companion! I don't even know you!" I mumbled, trying to escape.

"We both eat the meats, so we are companions!" She jumped into the other building and gestured for me to follow her.

Because of the pressure in my guts, I accidentally jumped out. "You forced me to eat them, didn't you?"

"But you still ate them!" She countered, running away from the knights.

Hours had passed, and we were finally captured by the knights. My legs were worn out, and my breath was almost gone. I gazed at the girl who was placed in the carriage as she grinned, waving a smirk.

The other knights released me and gave me a frown. "I'm sorry for the trouble we've caused!" A man with crimson hair muttered, patting my head.

"I'm Miguel Pon Cross, see you around!" The knights muttered, glancing at the carriage.

I gazed at the girl inside the carriage, my heart pounding. "The Princess was too stubborn!" The knights muttered, sighing with heavy breath.

"Princess?" I asked, my eyes narrowed.

"Yes, she was the first Princess in this kingdom!" The knights further explained.

My head almost exploded as I heard her title. She shifted her gaze and pulled down the window. "Hey! Let's meet again!" She shouted as the carriage started to move.

I only nodded with embarrassment. My heart continued to beat unpredictably. "Do we have a cursed Princess?" I asked the knights beside me. He only laughed and silently watched the Princess's departure.

Time passed, and my days changed a little. Miguel, the knight, was always inviting me to his camp to train my body. He also gave me food and money, so I never refused his invitation.

The sneaky Princess always found her way to visit me in the camp, causing me a lot of trouble. Nine years had passed, and I was encouraged by Miguel Pon Cross to be an aspiring knight. I finally became a knight bachelor, by accident.

Princess Frye's visits were slightly reduced, but she didn't forget to take some meat while visiting my place. Our friendship became more solid, and my connection with royalty became higher.

"Wanna be my knight?" She asked me, gazing down at the White Garden.

"I don't! I wanted to pursue the judicial ride!" I quickly muttered, turning my back to her.

"Hmm... My father announced my upcoming marriage to the second son of that jerk Duke," the Princess shared, leaning her shoulder against my body. She placed her gentle palm in my hands and held it tightly. Her eyes were seeking sympathy, and her voice was painted with discouragement. I only looked at her eyes and waited for the sun to rise.
