Chapter 212: Infested
"You two just sit back."
[Mark Of he King First Stage: Activated.]
With a pat on their heads, a glowing golden mark in the form of a puzzle appeared on his forehead. The square puzzle resembled a maze which was constantly shifting and trying to solve itself.
The golden glow in Gray's eye increased, his silver Artifact eye flashed a light as he scanned the room.
The two girls blushed even further as he reassured them, their desire to have him was at it's peak, they didn't want to let go of him.
His shredded abs, unique different coloured eyes and short spiky grey hair gave him an appeal like no other.
'There it is again, that fearless look...' Violet thought to herself.
Aurora lightly bit her lips as she stared at him.
Everything was paused, the creature's body itself wasn't in the room so there was no point in staying here any longer.
And Gray himself didn't want to delay the situation or ruin the moment so, he chose the highest risk move.
"Time Stop."
[Pause Level 4: Incomplete Time Stop.]
Everything froze.
The colours around him changed, becoming black and white.
An abyssal silence followed by the sounds of the bed creaking.
Gray slowly got off the bed, only to look back at the two pair of asses behind him.
*Smack* *Smack!*
He smacked them both at the same time before beginning his commute into the next rooms.
WIth a fearless grin, he quickly ran out of the room not wanting to waste any time before looking around.
He had avoided the patches of flesh on the floor but judging from the sight before him, he wouldn't be able to any longer.
"Patches of flesh everywhere... What the fuck happened in here?" He asked as he looked around.
The entire living room's floor was filled with the gooy flesh, the next room opposite to this one had flesh moving in from beneath the door cracks.
Gray sighed as he noticed this.
"So that's how they managed to make it in here..." He muttered.
He walked across the living room in search of whatever was causing this, and found nothing.
As he looked at the entrance's door, his suspicioun was confirmed.
There was a large amount of frozen flesh like a balloon beneath the door cracks, the source of all of this was clear.
"Based on how disgusting this ability is... I'm guessing the one to cause it was a Zombie..."
Gray gripped tightly on his sword which was resting beside the sofa before pointing it in the door's direction.
He seemed rather undecisive on how he was going to play this off.
This zombie's ability worked in a way that allowed it to infest an entire room whilst it's main body stayed and attacked from outside.
After taking this into account, Gray finally reached a conclusion.
"I'll just kill the main body and go back to snuggle snuggle." He muttered with an excited giggle.
He didn't want to waste anymore time and the timer on time stop was running out so he quickly dashed at the entrance door.
*Click* *Clack!* *Katching!*
He unlocked all the locks before slamming it open.
WHen he did, his eyes widened.
"What the hell...?"
The flashy chunks of flesh which he had seen all across his room and house, weren't just in his apartment.
It was all over the apartment.
The staircase, the halls, the lamps on the ceiling, they were all being covered by this progressing flesh. It seemed to have even made it's way inside the other apartment rooms through the creaks beneath the doors.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me? What is this, a horror movie?" Gray asked.
'This apartment has around ten floors... This is the top floor. If it's reached here then it's only natural to assume it's reached the other floors too."
Gray had two options.
Search for it across the floors with X-Ray, or head back and find another place with the three of them.
Naturally the latter would have been the smart choice but.
"Ah... I'm fucking pissed..." He muttered with dark eyes.
The timing, the situation, the effect, all of it pissed him off.
All he wanted was a day's rest, was that too much to ask?
[X-Ray: Level 1]
Gray looked across the floors starting from the one he was on.
"I was limiting the X-Ray to a range of one room but lets tune it up to everything in this apartment."
With his range having widened, Gray could now see through everything all the way down to the first floor.
The sight below shook him.
Countless survivors which had lasted up until now had all been impaled by the needles from this strange gooey flesh. There were still some survivors fighting with their abilities and life on the line, but based on how the situation was, death was inevitable.
Another thing Gray noticed was that most of the Zombies had been killed and consumed by whatever that thing was.
Their corpses were sinking into the flesh.
He looked across the rooms in search of anything, any signs which he could use, but nothing came up at first.
"Shit... And my fortune was on a streak too..."
'Guess I'll just leave...' He thought to himself as he turned and walked back into the room.
On his way back his thoughts were filled with regret. There was no telling when the next time such a perfect situation would arise.
"Judging by how badly it went this time... I doubt it'll happen again." He muttered, as he reached the room.
[TIme remaining until time resumes: 10 seconds.]
From the notification the the two asses which he had smacked before his eyes, Gray felt something shift within him.
"Haha, what am I doing..?"
"Did I really just think of abandoning this place all because of a difficult to deal with monster?"
"Did I really just plan on abandoning a situation like this?"
[Time remaining until time resumes: 6 seconds.]
Gray placed his palm on his face, through the gaps between his fingers a bright golden and silver glow flashed out.
[4 seconds.]
"Ha..." He sighed.
"Pause level five..."
[Pause Level 5: Authority Over Frozen Time.]
[New Command Unlocked.]
"Detect." He ordered.
[Detect] The system repeated.

-
*Smack!* *Smack!*
Two smacks resounded simultaneously as the two girls asses shook from the impact.
"Oo~"
"Ah~"
Their gazes widened from surprise, Gray was no longer on the bed before them. But based on the feeling of the smack they were certain it was his hand which had hit them.
They looked around only to find all the infested chunks of flesh in the room cut into tiny pieces alogn with the needles which were paused at their faces a while ago.
In the period of a second, no... Even less than that, something had managed to cut everything.
Without even bothering to ask, it was clear to them what that something was.
"When did he.."
"It's Gray, when doesn't apply to him."
Before the two could say anything else, time froze once more.
-
"Did we end up in a horror movie or something? What the hell?" Gray asked boldly
With the pattern on his head still growing brightly, he stood before a strange large cocoon. It was it was the size of his body, big enough to store in humans.
The cocoon was made by some sort of gooey silky substance unlike regular insect cocoons and through it, Gray could see a dark inside.
It was shaped like a mixture of a human and reptile, a long lizard-like tail with strange scales running across it's body.
[X-Ray: Level 1]
Gray couldn't see through it with for some reason X-Ray.
Even earlier when he looked through the walls, he hadn't noticed the cocoons but if he had, he would have realised that his X-Ray wasn't working on it.
He could see what was on the other side of it, but the inside of the cocoon itself was impossible.
'My level isn't high enough... I need to Level this skill up.'
Gray raised the Katana up into the air, before vertically swinging it down and cutting right through the cocoon in the process.
Upon cutting it, Gray's eyes widened only to see that inside was empty. The cocoons inner walls were a bundle of fleshy webs stuck to one another, it was truly disgusting.
Gray could find his libido slowly fading the longer he spent doing this, but after using his [Detecti] command, he realised that letting this thing go would be an even greater danger.
When he used detect, he detected fen of these cocoons, one in each floor, hidden in each room. THe main body of whatever was causing this was for sure to be in one of the cocoons.
It's ability to completely infest an apartment and hide it's main body showed that it was not only intelligent but a glutton.
Gray decided to make sure to deal with it now so that it wouldn't become a greater problem in the future.
"Onto the next one..." He muttered with a sigh.
