The fog was still there. It had not completely lifted.

Far on the opposite side of the city wall, deep within the corrupted mob, three black-robed figures stood still. They had not moved or attacked.

They were simply watching.One of them raised a hand, and the fog pulsed again.Ethan turned toward them.

If eyes could cut,Ethan might have already cut them into pieces.

"This is just the beginning," he said quietly.

Then he dismounted and ran straight back into battle.

On the other side, the evil priests did not share that calm. Their faces twisted with fury. Kai, the highest-ranking among them, looked toward Loan. His voice was sharp and filled with contempt.

"Loan…Have you prepared the puppet?"

"Yes I am done..Good..Now go and Crush these fools."

"Don't let them ruin our sacrifice."

Loan's eyes twitched with wickedness

He leaped forward and following his movement another figure moved.

"Let's go, my clone.We will enjoy wreaking havoc on the battlefield.Hahahah!"

Emma reacted instantly.While Roen and Julia were in the process of moving out,she commanded the mages to protect the troops by clearing away, enabling a smoother way out.

"Shield wall! Mages, prepare counterspells!"

Mages acted immediately on her command to counter.

They worked together and..

Lightening and flame spells poured down one after another on zombies.

The gates swung open and, led by Roen and Julia, the two flanks rushed forward to support Ethan.

The soldiers moved at once. Steel clashed against blood magic. Sparks flew in the air as weapons collided with twisted red energy.

A small detachment of knights charged head-on into a wave of zombies.

Their shields slammed forward, pushing back the first few undead, but more clawed over their fallen bodies. One knight swung his sword down, splitting a zombie from shoulder to chest.

Another zombie grabbed his arm and tried to bite through the metal. A third leaped from the side and dragged another knight to the ground. The muddy earth shook under the weight of their struggle. Bones cracked and armor dented while the knights fought desperately to keep the line from collapsing.

The sound of an explosion rang out as several zombies stepped over a trap and crushed the paper seals beneath them. Light burst upward, tearing them apart. Blood sprayed across the battlefield as the magic consumed its victims.

As they fought,Julia couldn't help but scream.

"There numbers so no sign of going down."she roared, hacking a few zombies before her.

SWISH!SWISHH!

As they fought they saw another horror.

The blood took the shape of tentacles and attacked.

Ethan noticed this and shouted,"Everyone be careful."

"Kyaa!"

"Ahh!"

"Grab these bitches."

"Get the shields."

Roen joined the fight with a roar. His sword cut through the air, blazing with flames. He slashed one of the blood tentacles clean in half. It hissed and instantly reformed.

The blood was vaporized and brunt out.

"Kaaaa! We need to destroy the caster! These things won't stop otherwise!"

Ethan nodded sharply and gave a signal to his elite squad. "Follow me. We will cut off the snake's head!"

They pushed forward. The blood tentacles whipped and thrashed around them. Several mages in the back sent bursts of wind, fire, and lightning, trying to buy them some breathing room.

The bloody zombies kept stomping through the battlefield. They crushed anyone who got in their way. One massive golem grabbed a horse and rider at the same time, lifted them up with terrifying ease, and slammed them down like toys.

Roen spotted an opening.

He dashed forward, jumping over a fallen zombie and rolling as another tentacle whipped past his head.

He reached the cloaked figure right as the priest prepared another spell.

Loan's eyes were burning with madness. "You think a mere Advanced rank like you can stop me? Are you an idiot to fight a Transcendent rank like me!"

He raised his staff. A storm of swirling blood formed around him like a living tornado.

Hearing this, Roen screamed with disbelief.

"What the fuck? How did a Master Mage pop up out of nowhere?"

He cursed himself for rushing in so blindly and, even more, cursed Ethan for not warning him.

But even Ethan had not sensed the priest's rank. The priest's body did not release any aura at all.

Roen still did not stop. He leaped into the storm and slashed down with everything he had. His sword, glowing with blue flame, cut through the swirling blood and stabbed straight toward Loan's heart.

Loan twisted aside at the last second. The blow missed a fatal point, but it still cut him. Blood spilled onto the ground and then rose again, pulling itself back into his wound.

"You will have to do better than that!" Loan shrieked. His laughter was broken and wild. "You can't kill me! My god is watching!"

Julia arrived then. She slid low, her blade aimed at Loan's legs, forcing him to retreat.

"Your god can watch you die."

She glanced at Roen. "Brother, let me support you."

Roen nodded tightly. With Julia taking the front, Roen was protected enough to strike without hesitation.

Loan kept casting defensive spells. The air shook with each clash. The attacks around them started vanishing one after another because Loan was being forced back.

Then it was time for the final bow.

"DIEEEEEE!"

Roen spun and cut straight through Loan's arm then the chest and then it was cut into two halves.

But the moment the body dropped, both of them froze.

It was not Loan.

It was something else entirely.

"A substitution!"

Loan had already jumped back, laughing loudly.

Ethan appeared behind the Loan and stabbed the real Loan in the chest the moment he reappeared.

Loan gasped in horror.He had been watching the battlefield too closely.

"No... I am chosen..." he whispered trying to summon another spell but Roen appeared and hacked his head causing blood to spurt on Ethan's face.

He stepped back and glared at Roen who was too happy to notice it.

Roen and Julia finally breathed out in relief.

But then a voice cut through the quiet.

"Don't be smug after taking out just a mere puppet."A crimson aura exploded upward. Another figure stepped out.

"Huhhh!"

"Because that's a puppet..Idiot,did you really think you are strong enough to take on me.."

"You two only managed to take on Master rank Mage because it's a puppet but now it's over..Hahahahah!"
