Chapter 159: 159:Boss Monster 3
An eerie howling screech echoed through the cavern, sharp enough to make the air itself tremble. The Spider Queen's body twisted and thrashed as she shrieked in rage.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Streams of acid splashed through the air, sizzling as they hit the stone floor. The stench of burning rock filled the air. Ethan moved swiftly, leaving behind after images that were struck by the spider queen attack
His eyes locked on the glowing arcs of acid coming his way.
"Wind Barrier!" he shouted, waving his hand. A circular shield of compressed air shimmered before him, deflecting the incoming acid. The next instant, another volley came.
"Gale Deflect!" A twisting gust wrapped around him, diverting the acidic streams away.
"Wind Push!" A burst of air pressure blew back the remaining droplets that tried to land on him.
He used all the beginner stage spells he had learnt from Diana.Though the system made him Mage,it was like an empty husky so he had to learn all Magic spells from scratch.
The Spider Queen let out another piercing screech. Her enormous legs slammed down toward Ethan, their movements quick despite her size. The sharp limbs struck the ground, carving cracks into the rock.
Ethan's boots glowed faintly as he activated Lightning Steps. His body blurred, leaving streaks of light as he zigzagged through the onslaught. Each strike barely missed him by inches. The wind whistled with every move he made.
The moment he found an opening, Ethan leaped forward. His greatsword glowed faintly as he swung with all his might.
BOOOOOOOOOM!
A deafening blast shook the entire cave.
Sparks flew as the greatsword met the Spider Queen's sharp legs. The impact sent waves of dust rolling through the air. Ethan's grip tightened, and his eyes narrowed.
"The ends are too thin and sharp. There isn't enough surface area for me to cut through, even if I imbue my sword with aura." He spat on the ground and jumped back.
In midair, Ethan's hand glowed red. "Fire Orb!"
Dozens of fiery balls appeared around him, floating in the darkness. The cavern glowed in the flickering light. He swung his arm, and the fireballs shot forward like meteors.
SPURT! SPURT!
They rained down upon the Spider Queen's body and exploded on impact. Flames roared and smoke filled the cave. The sound of sizzling flesh mixed with the creature's enraged hissing. Ethan squinted through the wall of fire and smoke.
As the smoke cleared, his jaw tightened. Not much damage has been done. Her thick carapace was only slightly scorched.
"I low-key expected that," he muttered, shaking his head.
Before he could move again, thick webs shot toward him from her back. The air whistled as the sticky silk sped at him like spears. Ethan gritted his teeth and spun his left arm in a circle.
"Flame Inferno!"
A roaring stream of fire erupted from his palm like a bazooka. The flames blazed across the air and burned away the webs before they could reach him. The heat made the stone walls glow faintly red.
"Hmmm," Ethan muttered, his tone calm despite the chaos. "At this rank, I can only use magic for defense. Her body is too damn tough to be hurt by small spells."
He steadied his breathing and tightened his grip on the greatsword. His eyes scanned her movements again, calm and calculating. The Spider Queen hissed furiously, her long legs digging into the stone as she prepared to strike again.
"I've already seen your pattern," Ethan whispered. "Leg attack, pounding strike, acid spray, and web shots. But your huge body… that's your weakness."
He smiled faintly, eyes gleaming with confidence.
"Others might struggle to break through it, but not me."
His aura flared around him, rippling through the air like a storm. The cave trembled under the pressure. His boots cracked the stone floor as he bent his knees.
"Time to break!"
With that, Ethan slammed his feet against the ground. The explosion of force sent him soaring high above the cavern. Dust and shattered rock followed his ascent. His greatsword glowed with golden light as he raised it above his head.
The Spider Queen looked up, her hundred eyes gleaming crimson. A deep, guttural growl escaped her mouth as she prepared to defend.
Ethan's voice echoed through the cavern, low and sharp. "Let's end this."
Then, with a roar, he brought his sword down, splitting through the air like a falling star.
The moment Ethan's sword came crashing down, the Spider Queen reacted. Her front legs crossed in defense, and her massive body twisted with frightening speed.
CLANG!
The greatsword struck her limbs causing the sparks to fly as the force rippled through the air. The shockwave sent dust and debris spiraling upward, but the Spider Queen held her ground. She hissed loudly, and her eyes burned red with fury.
Ethan landed on the ground, the impact cracking the floor beneath his boots. He gritted his teeth, his sword still humming with the leftover energy of the strike.
"Tch… she blocked it," he muttered under his breath.
The Spider Queen let out a deafening screech. Her abdomen pulsed, glowing faintly with a sickly green light. The ground beneath her trembled, and from the cracks in the stone, smaller spiders began to crawl out one after another. Their screeches echoed through the cavern.
Ethan's face darkened. "Great…We have got minions."
In the blink of an eye, dozens of small spiderlings swarmed toward him, their fangs dripping venom. Ethan raised his greatsword and met them head-on.
BOOM!
He swung his weapon in a wide arc, sending a shockwave that crushed several at once. The sound of their bodies being flattened echoed through the chamber. Black fluids splattered across the floor.
"Out of my way!" he shouted as his voice echoed sharply.
More spiders jumped from the walls, trying to overwhelm him. Ethan spun on his heel and brought his sword down like a hammer, smashing them into dust.
His aura flared, pushing back the horde.
"Flame Burst!" he chanted. A circle of fire erupted around him, burning through everything that came close.
