Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

Chapter 124: 124:The Weird Priest

"Do you still need to seduce girls?"

And honestly, they'd be right. With his looks alone, ninety out of a hundred girls would easily fall for him without him trying.

Ethan sighed and shook his head, pushing those thoughts away. Then he shouted clearly, "Collect!"

The moment the word left his mouth, a huge surge of knowledge rushed into his mind. His eyes widened as he felt something inside him shift.

Countless streams of information filled his thoughts

Symbols, chants, patterns of mana flow, and the structure of basic spells. It was as if a new door had opened in his mind, flooding him with new understanding. His vision blurred for a second, then cleared sharply.

He clutched his head, gritting his teeth as the knowledge settled in. The sensation wasn't painful, but it was overwhelming. It felt like his brain was expanding, stretching to contain something vast and unfamiliar.

When it finally calmed, Ethan opened his eyes slowly, breathing heavily. A faint light flickered in his pupils, and for the first time, he felt something new—an invisible energy flowing all around him.

It was soft yet alive, like a gentle current of wind brushing against his skin. He could feel it seeping into everything—the air, the ground, even his own body.

"So this is mana..." he whispered.

It was different from his knightly instincts and divine perception. The divine sense of a knight was sharp and instinctive, something born from pure physical awareness. But this—this was deeper. Mana was calm and quiet, like a river flowing under the surface of the world.

When he closed his eyes, he could sense it clearly, as if threads of light connected everything around him.

A small grin appeared on his face. He clenched his fist, feeling the blend of strength and clarity coursing through him.

"Woahh... With a knight's divine perception and a mage's intelligence, I can surely deal with stronger opponents and see through their flaws easily."

He exhaled slowly, his eyes shining with newfound confidence.

"That's great…Now I am a dual path wielder."

.....…..

The next day, Oliver noticed Ethan sitting at the table with a deep frown on his face. His brows were furrowed tightly, and he seemed lost in thought. Oliver tilted his head, watching quietly for a moment before speaking.

"What is it Oliver, is there a problem?" he asked carefully.

Ethan lifted his eyes and gave a small sigh.

"Not on my side, but you seem to be troubled," Oliver added, crossing his arms.

Ethan paused, hesitating. He wasn't sure if he should say it aloud. Honestly, he was a bit afraid. If this rumor spreads, people might start seeing him as a heretic. But Oliver had been his loyal companion for years. If there was anyone he could trust, it was him.

"It's about that priest," Ethan said finally.

"Priest?" Oliver asked. "Oh, the new priest?"

"Yes, that one," Ethan replied. His tone was calm, but there was unease in his eyes. "I don't know how to explain it, but I'm getting a strange feeling from him."

" Like I am meeting a monster..no it's better to say a ghostly evil nefarious being. It feels creepy and gives me déjà vu."

Oliver frowned. "Déjà vu?"

"Sorry," Ethan said. "What I mean is, he's giving off a strange vibe. You know how priests usually give a holy and pure feeling? But that guy…"

Oliver's mind drifted for a moment as he remembered the man's face. That eerie smile with golden teeth shining under the dim light made him shiver slightly.

"You certainly have a point, My Lord," Oliver said slowly.

Ethan leaned back in his chair. "That guy's smile looked like a psycho's."

"Definitely," Oliver agreed, his face turning serious.

"I want to investigate," Ethan said, lowering his voice, "but if word spreads, we might be accused of disrespecting the Church."

Oliver thought for a moment before replying. "That's a problem indeed. But we can start small. Our little group of informers has already begun working. We can gather some information quietly."

Ethan rubbed his chin in thought. "Hmm. That could work. It'll also serve as a good test for them. And I think we should take a look at it ourselves in disguise."

"Understood," Oliver said with a nod.

Later that day, Ethan's orders were carried out. A five-man squad was sent to the church in disguise, posing as commoners suffering from an illness.

When they reached the busy street outside the church, the group split up.

"You three, go inside and take a look," the leader said quietly. "We'll stay out here and talk to the people."

The three men entered the church while the other two, Crebs and Hall, walked toward the nearby shops and stalls. They tried to blend in with the locals, buying small things here and there.

Crebs leaned toward a shopkeeper as he handed over some coins. "I heard there's a new priest here," he said casually. "How is he?"

The shopkeeper's face brightened. "Oh, you mean Priest Mureno? That man is divine! He's truly a blessed one of God."

Another woman nearby joined in, her hands clasped in prayer. "Priest Mureno is a gift from heaven. When he speaks, it feels like the voice of the divine itself."

"Yes," another man added with a smile. "Since he came, I feel like the whole village has been blessed. He helps the poor, preaches beautifully, and his presence alone feels holy."

"It's like God himself descended upon us to ease our sufferings."

Crebs nodded slowly and exchanged glances with Hall. He wrote a few quick notes in a small notebook before the two quietly stepped away.

"The priest must be amazing," Crebs said, smiling faintly. "People are going crazy for him. He must be a kind man."

Hall stopped walking and turned to him with a serious expression. "Kind man, my ass," he muttered.

Crebs frowned. "What do you mean?"

Hall didn't answer right away. Instead, he grabbed Crebs by the shoulder and turned him toward the crowd gathered near the church.

"Look at them properly," Hall said. "Don't you think something feels off? They're praising him too much. It's like they're worshipping him as if he's God himself."

Crebs looked at the crowd again. Dozens of people were kneeling, smiling, their eyes shining with strange devotion. The air around them felt heavy and unnatural.

A chill crept up his spine. "Now that you mention it," he whispered, "it does look strange."
