Path to Becoming the Greatest Space Mercenary

Chapter 331 Interrogating Fahad

"Are you sure that you two are going to be okay? I can just get the information and relay it to you both later."

Avery, Kasandra, and Kaiden were currently sitting within a waiting room within an Alliance Police prison.

This was a place where violent criminals were held in the Dramid System.

Most eventually ended up transferred elsewhere to prevent overcrowding, but for now at least the individual that the three of them had come to see was being held here.

"No, I'm going to hear that bastard Fahad cough up everything." Kaiden replied gruffly.

Kasandra likewise declined to leave.

This involved their home, and was their problem to deal with.

Both of the Woest siblings were obviously grateful for Avery's understanding and help, but they needed to be here for this. To hear about the planet they had been forced to flee from one of the men responsible.

Eventually, the same sergeant that had arrested Fahad and his men arrived to lead Avery, Kasandra, and Kaiden to the interrogation room where the prisoner of interest was being held.

It apparently had not been easy to facilitate this meeting, but the sergeant had kept his word.

"He's in here. There should not be any trouble since he's been restrained, and just in case he does try something, I, and three other officers will be watching in."

Avery understood that the officers were less concerned with their safety, and more warning them not to do anything but talk.

Mercenaries were known to be a rough bunch, and considering that this man had attacked them, it would not be surprising if they got violent with Fahad if he stayed quiet or did not say the right thing.

As they walked inside, they found their target sitting at a small metal table.

Both of his hands were bound and locked down onto the table, and his feet had been chained up to the floor.

Other than a few inches of slack that allowed him to slightly shift in his seat, Fahad was unable to move.

The moment that he saw Kasandra and Kaiden, he gnashed his teeth at them and a low, guttural growl escaped from his throat.

Clearly, he was not particularly happy to see them.

"You know, this is a good look for you, Fahad." Kasandra said sarcastically as she glared at the man.

Truthfully, she would have rather seen him lying in a morgue, but this was a close second.

Fahad continued to just stare and growl for a few seconds, before he started lowly chuckling.

"The two of you have no idea what's in store for you. Had you just come along nicely, there might have been a future for you. Now, for what you've done to me and my team, Daxton will make sure your ends are unfathomably painful once he's gotten what he wants from you."

He seemed to truly believe what he was saying, but Avery knew that it would not come to pass. Now matter how powerful Daxton was on their home planet, all he really amounted to was being a petty warlord.

"Now, that you've brought it up, what exactly does your boss want with my crew members? If he was worried about them coming back and causing a rebellion, then he would have just ordered them killed. Yet, you went out of your way to try and capture them. In the middle of the Dramid Alliance's capital system no less." Avery said, aiming to steer the conversation in the direction he wanted.

"As if I'd tell you that! You should just stay out of matters that don't concern you. That way you might live longer."

Fahad's response was hostile, but not unexpected.

Seeing that they were not getting anywhere, Kaiden jumped up and slammed his fists into the table.

Creating a loud bang that caused Fahad to wince in pain.

"You're going to tell us everything we want, right now! Or I'm going to gouge your eyes out and rip off your arms!" Kaiden shouted aggressively.

There was visible fear on Fahad's face for a moment. Kaiden's anger was extreme, and he truly did look just a couple seconds away from going berserk.

However, when the initial shock wore off and he remembered the reality of the situation and where he was, Fahad merely gave Kaiden a goading smile.

His threats were empty ones.

Perhaps if they were somewhere else, Kaiden might have really started to torture the man, but that was something that was not going to fly under the watchful eyes of the Alliance Police.

"Do your worst. The instant you attack me though, the goons watching from outside are going to rush in to stop you. They're so much kinder to their prisoners here than back home. I can still hear the whimpers of the Woest Clan members as we forced them into the Janyarti Pits to harvest the nectar from the plants within." Fahad said, a sadistic expression on his face.

This caused both Kasandra and Kaiden to roil with rage, and both of them nearly snapped and lunged at Fahad.

The only thing that held them back was Avery.

He had seen where things were going and had grabbed onto both of their shoulders. Physically keeping them in place and reminding them not to do anything rash.

While he did not know exactly what these Janyarti Pits were, from the context he was able to pick up that it was likely somewhere incredibly dangerous and likely a death sentence for most that entered.

"You certainly like to yap about the most unnecessary things. When you should be telling us exactly what we want to know. Otherwise, I'll have to go get my answers from your allies. I've already identified where a few other groups in league with you are hiding. This time, the Alliance Police won't be getting involved. I'll crush all of them and get the answers that I want no matter what it takes."

"You're bluffing. The others will have gone into hiding to reorganize. There's no way that you know where they are."

"Yep, your correct, I don't know where they are. But you did just confirm that there are other agents around. So, if I don't get what I want from you today, I'll find them no matter what it takes. They're still after Kasandra and Kaiden, so eventually they will come to us even if we do nothing. We're far more than guys like you can handle. So, if you don't want them all to meet very gruesome ends. I'd recommend that you stop jerking us around. And if you're so confident in your boss, what will it matter if we know." Avery said, slowly getting into Fahad's head.

He then passed things over to Kasandra and Kaiden

They both asked the same question again, wanting to know why Daxton was after them.

The man that had killed their father and taken over the planet they had grown up on hardly seemed the type to have cared much about two kids that had gotten away.

"Fine, it's like your keeper said. Knowing won't help you." Fahad said bitingly.

He then gave a short explanation as to why Daxton wanted either Kasandra or Kaiden alive, but preferably both of them.

As it turned out, their father had sealed away the Woest Clan's greatest treasurers in a large, and nigh impenetrable safe before the clan was overrun.

Any attempt to open it other than through the correct means would see the contents inside being destroyed.

There were no loopholes around this, and though Fahad did not know what was inside the safe, Daxton wanted it desperately.

"Regrettably, it will only open for a living member of the Woest Chief's direct family line. If we had known that we would have kept some of your siblings alive for a bit longer, instead of torturing them all to death. The two of you escaping is quite fortunate for us though. Otherwise, the safe would have remained seal forever."

This revelation seemed to surprise both Kasandra and Kaiden.

It seemed that neither of them had even heard of a secret family treasure, or the safe that housed it.

They had been the youngest members of their family, and far from being involved with its matter since they were still children. Although, even if they had been older, the two of them likely still would not have been privy to this information since they were far from the line of succession.

Now that they knew this reason why Daxton was after Kasandra and Kaiden, it certainly did answer some of the questions that Avery had.

Nevertheless, there was still quite a bit more that he wanted to know.

What he was most interested in were the planet's military capabilities and the forces that were directly under Daxton's command.

In the future, he planned on going with Kasandra and Kaiden to help them reclaim their lost home. And this type of information was going to be crucial.
