Path Through The Fate

Chapter 6: Point of struggle

It was a bright day in the village of Virella, a day with the same feelings and the usual atmosphere.

Nothing was special about this world, except for an 11-year-old boy trying to find meaning in a life filled with cruelty and suffering.

Vin: "Another ordinary day, with all the nightmares that come along with it."

Vin slowly opened his eyes and gazed at the wide-open window.

Vin: "Did my mother open that window?"

As he turned his head, Vin saw Lisa sitting beside his bed with a warm smile.

Lisa: "You're finally awake, Brother."

Vin: "What are you doing here, Lisa?"

Lisa: "I wanted to wake you up, so I opened the window to let some air in."

Lisa giggled.

Lisa: "But it turns out you woke up before I even got the chance!"

Vin scratched his messy hair.

Vin: "What about Mom? Isn't she usually the one who wakes me up?"

Lisa: "Mom's cooking in the kitchen, so she asked me to wake you up instead."

Vin: "Oh, alright then. Go help Mom. I'll clean up my room first."

After Lisa left the room, Vin stood up and started tidying his room. He made his bed slowly, his mind drifting to thoughts of his old friend, Renz Xinolen.

Once done, Vin walked to the kitchen, where Diana and Lisa were busy cooking. The aroma of roasted chicken mixed with the fresh scent of vegetables filled the room.

Vin: "Hey, what are you two cooking?"

Diana turned with a smile.

Diana: "Good morning, Vin. Just the usual—vegetables and roasted chicken for our meal."

Lisa glanced at Vin with a teasing smile.

Lisa: "But before eating, wash your face first, Brother!"

Vin chuckled softly.

Vin: "Alright, I'll be back in a moment."

After washing his face, the three of them enjoyed the meal prepared by Diana and Lisa. Warmth and happiness were evident on their faces—except for Vin's. He ate in silence, his expression blank, his thoughts trapped in an inexplicable void.

After finishing his meal, Vin washed his plate himself.

Vin: "I'll head to my room for a bit, then I'll train in the backyard."

Diana smiled gently.

Diana: "Alright, dear. But don't push yourself too hard while training."

Vin gathered his gear: a sword, its scabbard, and a chest guard. As he stepped outside, the morning breeze greeted his face. Green fields stretched out in the distance, adorned with the gentle murmur of a small stream.

Yet a sense of emptiness lingered in his heart. It was just him and his sword, Astral Demon Darius, his steadfast companion.

Vin stopped in front of a scorched Oak tree, its trunk charred black like coal. The tree seemed like a silent witness to his struggles. He stared at it with a sharp gaze.

Vin: "This training has to be different. I must become stronger."

Gripping his sword tightly, Vin prepared his stance. But before he could swing, a familiar voice broke the silence.

Ryan: "Hey, Vin, you're full of energy this early in the morning, huh? Haha."

Vin flinched, his grip loosening on the sword. It fell to the ground with a soft thud.

Vin: "Oh, Uncle. You startled me."

Ryan approached Vin, a small chuckle escaping his lips.

Ryan: "Haha, sorry for surprising you."

He unsheathed his sword, a steel blade with silver ornamentation on its hilt.

Ryan: "Were you planning to train alone, Vin?"

Vin looked at Ryan, his eyes hardening.

Vin: "Do you remember the time we met at Skull Hill?"

Ryan gave a faint smile, raising his sword.

Ryan: "How could I forget? This seems like the perfect time to teach you a lesson."

Vin lifted his sword, a faint smile forming on his lips.

Vin: "I suppose my journey to becoming stronger begins now."

The wind blew softly, stirring up small specks of dust between them. Ryan's gaze reminded Vin of Renz, while Vin's stare reminded Ryan of Kyle.

They locked eyes, two generations sharing the same determination. This training marked the beginning of Vin's struggle, the start of an ambition that would lead him to his destiny.

A point filled with meaning and relentless effort, proving that every individual has ambitions and goals they must strive to achieve.
