Path Through The Fate

Chapter 4: Simple

Vin woke up from sleep, his face weary from the recurring nightmares that came without warning.

"I saw it again," Vin muttered, touching his forehead.

Vin glanced toward the window, covered by curtains, and saw the sunlight beginning to rise. However, the heaviness in his chest made the morning feel far from peaceful.

Just before Vin got up to open the curtains, his mother Diana's voice echoed through the room.

"Vin, wake up, it's already morning." Diana's voice called out to Vin, opening his bedroom door.

"Yeah, I'm up," Vin replied, getting out of bed.

Diana entered Vin's room and saw the room cluttered with scattered papers.

"Why are there always papers scattered all over your room, Vin?" Diana said, no longer surprised by Vin's habits.

"Same as always, I keep having nightmares," Vin replied, standing up from his bed and walking toward his desk.

"I always try to understand the meaning and why these dreams keep coming back," Vin said while picking up the papers scattered on the floor and his desk.

"But it doesn't have to be this messy, Vin," Diana said with a slightly frustrated expression.

After their conversation ended, the atmosphere briefly paused. Vin stood beside the bed, his eyes fixed on the papers still scattered on the floor. Diana, with patience, helped clean the room, despite having seen this mess many times before. Once the room was tidied, they both stood in the middle of the room, as if enjoying the calm moment before resuming their respective tasks.

Diana and Vin were very close, and Vin often spoke to his mother more than anyone else.

Diana walked toward the curtains, then pulled them aside and opened the window to let the sunlight and fresh air inside.

"Look outside, Vin," Diana said, trying to shift the mood.

Vin walked toward his mother and saw what was happening.

"What's going on?" Vin asked, his face curious.

"Look, your diligent little sister has been up since early," Diana said, directing Vin's attention to his younger sister, Lisa, who was cleaning the garden in front of the house.

"Oh, Lisa. Yeah, she's always cheerful and hardworking as usual," Vin said with a faint smile on his face.

Vin looked toward his sister, who always seemed cheerful and full of smiles.

"I hope you two can always stay together. Soon, Lisa will turn 10, and you'll be 11, Vin," Diana said, gazing out at the beautiful scenery with a smile, speaking softly yet meaningfully, giving Vin a piece of advice.

"Yeah, I'll keep trying to be better, so I can protect this family, Mom," Vin replied, with determination and a strong ambition in his heart.

Once their conversation ended, they both continued cleaning Vin's room.

Diana and Vin were very close, even though they had a significant difference in how they approached things. Diana preferred taking care of the house and keeping it clean, while Vin was always focused on growing stronger and training.

At a glance, Vin's room was not too spacious. His room looked simple, with some sword-training equipment and a desk where Vin studied.

"Is it done, Mom?" Vin asked his mother.

"Yes, now I'm going to help Lisa clean," Diana said as she walked out of Vin's room.

"Then I'll cook for us later," she added with a smile, looking at Vin.

"Okay, I'll grab my sword. I'll practice with the tree like usual in the backyard," Vin said to his mother, as he gathered his gear.

They both got busy with their tasks. After a while, Vin left the room and walked out to the backyard to continue his training.
