Chapter 1684: No-Name (14)

Communication. Cooperation. Coordination.

Concealed behind his Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity, Wei Wuyin's Celestial Eyes of Spiritual Divinity noticed those three things throughout this exchange. Not only was he testing the limits of his base form's physical strength, speed of his reflexes, bodily durability, and spiritual aspects, but he was testing the limits of his opponents' concocted tactics, executed effectiveness, level of reliance on, and the properties of their Heavenly Treasures and Mystic Powers as Sages.

The Cultivation Art that Su Mei had received from the eight False Doors that sought to infect the soul had been delivered to his Second Mind and assiduously studied, and as he observed the night-imperceptible communication of spiritual aura and intent, Wei Wuyin confirmed that the Cultivation Art, just as the rumors assumed, suggested that the eight Sages had an unimaginably close relationship to each other.

When they communicated, Wei Wuyin's Spiritual Sense was unable to gain the slightest indication of their activity, as if there was no notable fluctuation occurring. Moreover, he wasn't certain if it was simply because it occurred too fast or if they used a different medium to transmit. Using his Celestial Eyes, the Core Inheritance of the Magi, he was able to see faint signs of transmissions lingering between the Sages regardless of the distance involved, all without the slightest decline in strength or affected by injury.

In truth, Wei Wuyin initially didn't wish to use this important, galaxy-defining battle as a testing ground for the art and its properties, but his Second Mind insisted—heavily. Not only did it want to gauge Wei Wuyin's current physical strength without any mental restriction or implication of a spar relative to a Sage, but it also wanted to gather information on how the Cultivation Art worked at a soul level. With his newfound Soul Perception, Wei Wuyin saw the very circulation of the art and how the communication wasn't going into the spirit, but using Soul Energy to transmit similarly as spiritual transmissions.

If used properly, if studied properly, this might be able to have vast, far-reaching implications. For example, the distance and region, regardless of how chaotic it was transmitted through, wouldn't affect the speed of delivery or clarity.

'Currently,' Wei Wuyin thought as his figure explosively kicked off, rushing toward Sage Hathor recklessly, 'I have to use my Void Altars to communicate, and there's a delay if I don't rely on supplying pure Void Energies for swift transmission, but it was still a difficult feat, and the greater the distance, the more anchors needed to facilitate message transmissions. If not for the Void Altars I established on the White Abyss Galaxy in haste, I wouldn't have been able to receive any transmissions from home…'

Wei Wuyin paused for the briefest of moments at that last word, the image of Xue Yifei and the others, including the comfort of his bed at the Original Dawn Palace. Instinctively, he touched his necklace holding the still-evolving Bai Lin and the Myriad Yore Continent that contained the story of his early life. Just then, he released three punches.

The first punch blasted an intensely concentrated ray of solar light that was scorching hot to the point that it vastly exceeded normal Solar Stars' temperatures by roughly a dozen times. It contained a wisp of overwhelming life energy that was pushed to an extreme, borderline touching upon death itself, and attempted to infect his fist much like a cancerous condition. With a booming exertion of his Mystic Force, a wave of clear light dispelled the effects.

The second punch sent Sage Imentet flying yet again. She had intercepted his dash once again, but this time, she held on with relentless vigor and refused to budge for a moment, stalling Wei Wuyin's momentum for a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second, causing even Wei Wuyin to be surprised as her shield obtained several new cracks. The stall forced Wei Wuyin to take two coordinated attacks.

Somehow, Sage Pakhet unleashed another savage strike at full strength, subverting the limitations of her reserves of Mystic Power and Mystic Energies that even Wei Wuyin had to halt for a moment and give her a close look. The other attack was from Sage Khonshu, who encased his body in a uniquely crafted spatial and temporal prison that resembled a crescent-shaped lunar satellite.

The Ascension Art of his was meant to once again stall Wei Wuyin as Sage Pakhet attacked. Wei Wuyin was forced to partially transform both arms, pushing the limits of his bloodline energies threatening to erupt in full, crossing it before his body and tanking the blow. He was sent flying hundreds of thousands of miles as he was sent toward the ground, digging a mile-deep trench with his body before stopping.

'Her attacks are getting stronger!' Wei Wuyin dragged his body out of the trench as he flew into the sky, only to be attacked by a blinding light of moonlight by Sage Khonshu that threatened to block his Spiritual Sense. Unbeknownst to Sage Khonshu, he had the Celestial Eyes and Soul Perception, so he saw the difficult-to-perceive lethal pulse of soundwaves and incoming Ascension Art of Sage Nepit attacking his Sea of Consciousness.

They all seemed to be placing their hopes on Sage Pakhet and Sage Shattered Sphinx's offensive. Their main objective was clearly to find an opening and deliver an attack that would bypass his disgustingly durable physical body.

They not only coordinated flawlessly but their tactics were designed specifically to handle martial cultivators with absurdly resilient bodies while preventing any melee against anyone except Sage Pakhet, the close-quarters specialist who survived two blows that could have injured Enlightened Sages. It was spectacular, and Wei Wuyin's mind was filled with endless praise.

Meanwhile, a portion of his mind was focused on their means of communication. 'If this art could be replicated on a fundamental level, not only will it be extremely useful during wartime, but the issue of me not being able to receive any messages from across galaxies without a Void Altar, for example, unable to receive any messages in this galaxy because of the sheer distance without a large period between would be eliminated. That type of instantaneous communication could redefine the connection between galaxies.

"With Void Altars established, I could rely on using them for the transport of physical objects primarily. That would save a considerable amount of resources."

Since Wei Wuyin was young, he had always dreamed of running a business and developing things for greater convenience, and he saw this as a type of communication highway that could revolutionize a cultivation society, similar to how Skyships revolutionized planetary travel, Voidships revolutionized starfield travel, and Void Gates revolutionized all level of travels despite being relatively impractical and unstable, unable to transport mystic-grade materials due to how they interacted with such volatility with spatial portals powered by mortal-level energies.

The third fist single-handedly repelled the ray of moonlight and crushed Sage Nepit's spiritual assault.

Wei Wuyin gave the violently flying Sage Pakhet a look as his Celestial Eyes noticed that her reserves of energy seemed to be fairly full despite unleashing several slashes that could potentially kill ordinary Sages. She didn't cultivate a Cultivation Method like Wu Yu that gave her a second Dantian or concealed storage of energies that she could break like a day entering her body.

Looking closer, he noticed that Sage Hathor was holding a hand-seal, and his Alchemic Stars that acted as his pupils slightly constricted and then strongly pulsed as he realized their Cultivation Art didn't just allow an exchange of transmissions with instantaneous, uninterruptible, and night-imperceptible properties, but they could seamlessly transmit mystic power between each other.

His eyes glanced at each Sage with lightning speed, and his assumption was confirmed as he noticed minute fluctuations of exhausted power from each, funneling toward Sage Pakhet, while Sage Hathor was at the forefront of this transfer, so she exhibited the greatest change. At a mere glance, it could be assumed they were just using some discreet art or spell, preparing or unleashing in secret, justifying such a slight decrease in mystic power, but that layered disguise was unable to fool Wei Wuyin's eyes.

'They can transfer energies and power between each other using the same network of soul connection!' Wei Wuyin flashed as Sage Pakhet followed. They exchanged three heavy blows before her arm was pulverized as Wei Wuyin's partial transform was at its limits, exhibiting a hint of his true draconic might.

She was aghast for a brief moment, her expression splashed with disbelief and surprise before Sage Hathor grabbed her out of the air and proceeded to heal her with indescribable speed. Before Wei Wuyin finished dealing with the assault of the others, Sage Pakhet was already rushing head first with renewed vigor, unleashing yet another strike.

They must have another goal given their first and second main tactics were proving to be ineffective as Wei Wuyin could see Sage Shattered Sphinx's sinister sound attack despite Sage Nepit, Sage Khepri, and Sage Khonshu's mid to long-range assistance, while Sage Amunet was predicting his movements.

Wei Wuyin glanced at the hazy figure of Sage Amunet with an indiscernible light before returning to Sage Pakhet with a faint smile of fully unhidden admiration. While she was getting support, she was fully willing to go blow-for-blow despite getting injured time and time again. The fearlessness earned Wei Wuyin's respect.

She blitzed toward Wei Wuyin again, her khopesh ready for another exchange. Wei Wuyin smiled. She sliced, but Wei Wuyin, in her senses, vanished as if melding with the void. Her eyes widened, but before she could figure out what to do or how to counter this development, Sage Amunet's voice blasted through their network.

"DROP!!!"

Just as she was about to go into a full dive, she felt a strong tug at her scalp from behind, and then her body felt a sense of abnormal weightlessness as she saw the world turn into an incomprehensible blur. The only other thing she saw was darkness and a heavy, crushing pressure on her body.

"..." Sage Hathor yelped subconsciously.

Wei Wuyin had just grabbed Sage Pakhet's hair without any fluctuations and tossed her to the other side of the world with speed that she could barely observe. Moreover, her heart was racing despite her attempts to calm down.

Wei Wuyin stood there, his entire body except portions of his earthly handsome face was covered in gray-colored scales with faint shimmering of silvery light pulsating gorgeously from them and sporadic yet natural glints of dark-gray of three notably different shades emanating from his body. He no longer looked just human.

He resembled a humanoid dragon!

Draconic Transformation!

Wei Wuyin could no longer hold back his transformation after pushing his partial transformation to a certain point, a sign of his nascent control over his bloodline energies but similarly the domineering nature of his True Void Dragon Bloodline. With every breath, wisps of Void Flames were expelled, giving each Sage a feeling of extreme danger while his physical body was causing all forms of mana to gather toward him and vanish, as if he was devouring it ruthlessly to sustain himself, hungrily and greedily.

"What in the heavens is he?!" Sage Khonshu exclaimed.
