CHAPTER 34: Echoes of Kindness
Blue sat cross-legged on the ground, a simple meal spread before him. Ayaan, the old man who had taken him in, sat across from him, chewing thoughtfully on a piece of bread. The afternoon sun filtered through the leaves, casting dappled light on their peaceful surroundings.
Ayaan looked at Blue with a gentle smile. "You are special, Blue. Really special."
Blue laughed, a rare sound from him. "What makes you think I'm special and kind?"
Ayaan's smile widened. "Because you have a good heart. Even amidst your confusion and pain, there's a kindness in you that shines through."
Blue chuckled, shaking his head. "You remind me of a friend of mine, Ayaan."
"Oh? Who's that?" Ayaan asked, genuinely curious.
"Blue Spirit," Blue said softly. "He was also kind, nice, and even righteous." His thoughts drifted to Blue Spirit, Windslo, and Daima. The memories came rushing back, bringing a wave of emotions with them. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he let them flow freely.
Ayaan stood up, walking around to place a comforting hand on Blue's shoulder. "Memories are what make us live, Blue. Instead of crying, smile because they were there. They are part of you."
Just as Blue began to feel the warmth of Ayaan's words, a sudden, horrifying sound shattered the tranquility. Ayaan's head exploded, blood splattering everywhere, even on Blue's face. The old man's lifeless body crumpled to the ground, leaving Blue in shock.
A figure emerged from the shadows, his red eyes glowing with malice. Dark purple hair framed his pale, white face, and he wore a uniform from Feder. It was Morin.
"Are you Blue?" Morin asked, his voice cold and devoid of emotion.
Blue remained silent, his mind struggling to process the sudden violence. He stared at Ayaan's corpse, unable to move or speak.
Morin stepped closer, his expression unreadable. "I have been given orders to kill you."
