Pale Requiem: Transformed into a Girl

Ch. 35

Chapter 35: Routine

“No need to thank me.”

Bai Lengci said.

At this moment, a man in a flashy shirt, with hair carefully styled, swayed over with a glass of whiskey in hand, stopping in front of Yan Junzhu and Xiao Ran.

With a smile he thought looked suave and unruly, he had been peeking from a distance for a long while, itching with desire.

He felt that if he didn’t strike up a conversation with these two stunning beauties, tonight would be a lifelong regret.

“Oh, beautiful ladies.”

He spoke, deliberately lowering his voice, pretending to sound magnetic and deep.

“I see that this lady seems to be in a bad mood? Is there something troubling you? Perhaps I could share some of the burden?”

Though he addressed Yan Junzhu, his eyes didn’t forget to dart toward Xiao Ran at her side.

He fancied himself a master at picking up girls, firmly believing in the saying, “The bold feast, the timid starve.” Casting a wide net always caught some fish.

Although these two carried an extraordinary air, looking wealthy and noble, he wasn’t intimidated.

After all, his brother-in-law was Wang Li from Jinding Construction.

That gave him enough confidence.

Yan Junzhu frowned slightly, about to decline politely, when Lin Zheng had already turned toward Bai Lengci behind the bar.

He snapped his fingers with a frivolous tone.

“Aria, bring these two beauties a pair of Zombies! The most authentic kind!”

The Zombie cocktail, with its brilliant orange-red hue and sweet fruity flavor, was notorious.

Looking as harmless as juice, it was actually a potent mix of several strong liquors, famous for its heavy aftereffect and infamy as a “loss-of-virtue drink.”

Lin Zheng had used this trick to get many girls drunk, always with success.

Bai Lengci lifted her gaze, shot him a cold glance, and said nothing.

Turning around, she reached for light, gold, and dark rum, pineapple juice, passion fruit syrup, lime juice, apricot brandy…

Soon, two cocktails, orange-red with mint leaves and fruit slices as garnish, were set on the counter.

“These are on me, for the two beauties!”

Lin Zheng waved grandly, pushing the drinks toward Yan Junzhu and Xiao Ran, his face full of eager expectation.

But Xiao Ran got ahead, snatching Yan Junzhu’s phone from the table and shaking it playfully at Lin Zheng with a mischievous grin.

“You want to treat us to drinks? Sure! Down both of these, and I’ll give you this beauty’s WeChat!”

Yan Junzhu rubbed her forehead helplessly, tugging gently at Xiao Ran’s sleeve.

“Ranran, don’t mess around…”

Lin Zheng looked awkwardly at the two large glasses of Zombies, each notorious for knocking drinkers out in three.

Then he glanced at Yan Junzhu’s delicate and stunning face, now tinged with a trace of helplessness that only made her more alluring.

“Fine! The beauty is straightforward! I’ll drink!”

He steeled himself, thinking at worst he’d get drunk—but if he could get her contact, it would be worth it!

He picked up the two drinks.

Under the amused gaze of some onlookers, he gulped both down in one go.

“Gulp, gulp.” The potent cocktails slid down.

When he finished, his face reddened visibly, but he forced himself to slam the glasses upside down, let out a loud burp, his eyes already losing focus.

“D…done! The W-WeChat…”

Xiao Ran stifled her laughter, solemnly reciting a string of letters.

“M-I-N-G-Y-U, remember it, okay?”

Lin Zheng, dizzy and blurred, scrambled to take out his phone.

With trembling fingers, he typed and searched.

A user popped up.

He carefully checked the letters Xiao Ran had spelled, then showed it to her.

“I-Is this MINGYU?”

Xiao Ran nodded vigorously, smiling brightly.

“Yes! That’s the one!”

Full of anticipation, Lin Zheng tapped “Add to Contacts,” but a prompt immediately popped up.

[The other party refused to add you as a friend].

“Huh?”

He froze, rubbed his eyes, tried again, but got the same result.

He looked up at Xiao Ran in confusion.

“C-can’t… can’t add? It says the other party refused…”

Xiao Ran spread her hands innocently.

“I already told you the WeChat ID. If it doesn’t work, there’s nothing I can do~”

She shoved the phone back to Yan Junzhu, winking at her.

Yan Junzhu accepted the phone, looking at the dazed man before her.

Although she thought Xiao Ran had gone a bit far, she also truly didn’t want any entanglement with him.

Still unwilling to give up, Lin Zheng pleaded.

“Beauty, since I’ve shown such sincerity, just add me, okay? Or you can add me instead.”

He added hurriedly,

“I’m not a bad guy.”

Yan Junzhu spoke softly.

“Perhaps… it’s just that fate hasn’t arrived yet.

If we meet again by chance, then we’ll see.”

She tugged at Xiao Ran.

“It’s getting late. We should go.”

Xiao Ran also stood, picking up her bag.

“Exactly, time to go!”

By now, even Lin Zheng realized he had been played.

But gazing at Yan Junzhu’s gentle and intellectual face, carrying an unapproachable grace,

the fire in his chest was forced down, turning into a pitiful grievance instead.

“N-Next time… you must add me next time…”

The two didn’t give him another glance, striding straight toward the bar’s exit.

As they passed the counter, Xiao Ran was suddenly drawn by movement from Bai Lengci’s side.

Just at that moment, Bai Lengci had started her flair bartending performance.

“Hey, hey, Junzhu, wait! Let’s watch before we leave~”

Xiao Ran tugged at Yan Junzhu.
