Chapter 12: JÖTUNHEIM I
"Is this supposed to be an Ambush?" Arthur thought to himself with an amusing smile.
He placed his Staff in front of him—as Arthur was in his incubus form, he was using a staff to maximize his attack Power—just so he could be ready for all the possibilities. He slowly walked forward then stopped at a certain distance between the Tree where the Players he sensed are hiding.
"That's surprising, is this new trend using a Tree to ambush someone." Arthur spoke out loudly as if he were trying not to laugh.
Sensing that they have found out, bursts of laughter can be heard behind said Trees.
"Hahaha!"
"Hahaha!"
After that, three Players that looked that off a humanoid came out and faced Arthur.
One of them is holding a piece of equipment that resembles a staff and is dressed in a robe with elaborate patterns. Any Player could probably infer that he is a Magic Caster without a doubt. The player next to him was dressed in a long, white priest robe with golden embroidery; at a glance, anyone could infer that he belongs to the healing or support job class. The man after him, however, is fully armoured in silver and appears to be a warrior. The final person, who is still concealed behind the tree, has not been seen by Arthur, but based on his behaviour and refusal to reveal his appearance, he might be an assassin.
A warrior, A caster, A supporter and an assassin—a good party formation if Arthur has to say.
"See, I told you it was a player," Said the man in the robes, who also happened to be the group's mage.
"Yeah, you're right, and a Heteromorphic one at that. We got lucky." Said the other guy that is wearing armor.
After hearing the comments made by the armoured man, Arthur became curious. He already has all of their attention because it appears that they are more interested in him as a Heteromorphic than they are in him.
Even though Incubus has a pair of bat wings and a long leather tail, Arthur was currently hiding these features. Arthur was a heteromorphic being, but he was now in the form of an incubus, whose appearance is remarkably similar to that of humans. however, they were able to determine that he was heteromorphic.
So, how did they do that, He wondered?
Don't misunderstand him; he is aware that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of abilities or items that can recognise heteromorphic, but the idea of how they did it is still intriguing.
"Mind if I inquire as to what you three are doing in the trunk of a tree? Oh, is it what I believe it to be, are you three engaged in a gay activity? I'm sorry if I'm bothering you." The Blushing emoticon appears above Arthur's head as he said, "Still doing it in the open is....."
"Good joke, buddy, but no. Can you imagine that? We recently learned that Heteromorphic Players frequently visit this forest, so we decided to pay them a visit. We found you by simply looking around in a matter of minutes. The other players claimed that heteromorphic players are very skilled at camouflaging. Haha, it seems like just a rumour." Said by the man in the silver armour.
"Hey, I am not a Heteromorphic Player, can't you see by my looks that I am a Humanoid player." Arthur said, while observing their reaction.
"Hahaha, you see, our mage has a special ability to locate the enemy, and since Heteromorphic Players are viewed as a monster race by his ability, he can use it to look for Heteromorphic Players." Said by the man in the silver armour, who, based on his appearance and Aura, is undoubtedly the party's leader.
Getting the answer Arthur was looking for, he decided not to waste any time with them.
"Oh really? Well, since you found me. What can I do for you three? Do you want a picture or something?" Arthur said as a smile emoji appears above him.
"Hahaha, nothing like that, something better. I don't know if you know this, but PKing a player who is heteromorphic won't result in any sort of punishment for us. In addition to giving better experience points, they also drop items, and you, lucky dude, have some pretty darn good gear on yourself. They look incredibly expensive, I won't lie." Said the man who appeared to be a Priest while admiring Arthur Equipment.
"Feels bad man, but all of that will be ours now." The Priest-guy followed up.
If someone were to examine all of Arthur's possessions, they would discover that everything was of the highest calibre. Even though his armour is much more robust than Arthur's, everything about it—the staff, the armour, the accessories—was of a much higher calibre than the armour of the armour guy.
"It's just that you are so unlucky to meet us today, so don't feel bad about it." Said the armoured man as he took out his sword. I read Arthur's silence as him feeling awful and miserable.
"Oh no, it's actually all right." The three Humanoid players were completely perplexed by what Arthur said while gesturing with his hand, As Who among them would be okay with being robbed, for instance?
"But first, before we get into the fun, may I ask you a question? Is hunting heteromorphic currently popular?" Arthur addressed a question to the three.
"Uh no. Actually, no. Even though some Players engage in this behaviour, I wouldn't say that it is widespread at the moment." Said the man with the Mage-like appearance as he pointed his staff at Arthur.
"I see, *murmuring*, so it's already begun, huh? Well, that's a relief, I suppose." Arthur spoke softly and turned to face his opponents.
"So, what are you waiting for? Let's start " Arthur said as he vanished from his spot.
