Chapter 265: 265 The Dragon and the Tiger, Part 1 (Subscription Requested)
The sky-high flames turned half the space a fiery red, and amidst the blazing fire, six figures, trailing smoke, leaped out of the inferno, rushing straight towards Jiang Donghu and his group. However, what puzzled Shitang was why all four members of the Investigation Bureau were wearing windproof sunglasses at this time.
But the actions of the other party quickly resolved his confusion. Standing next to Jiang Donghu, He Jiantao stepped forward, extended his hands, and shouted in a low voice, "Flashbang!" As soon as he finished speaking, a blinding light burst from between his fingers, blinding Shitang and his companions in an instant. Still in mid-air, Shitang let out a pained howl, hurriedly closed his eyes, and now saw nothing but whiteness. Tears continuously flowed from the corners of his tightly shut eyes.
"Damn it!" Shitang cursed softly, kneeling on one knee. Despite the unbearable soreness and pain that temporarily blinded him, he wasn't a rookie fresh out of training. After the initial panic, he reacted by rolling backward.
Most of the others who were caught off guard also took similar defensive actions. At this moment, a curse in Japanese came from his side, which made Shitang initially panic, but then quietly rejoice—it seemed that an R B man had been hit. However, his schadenfreude didn't last long before he heard a soft shout from outside the crowd, "Stun grenade!"
He inwardly thought it was not good, but it was too late. The deafening noise exploded among the crowd, and those who had just regained their footing gaped as their minds spun, clutching their bleeding ears and staggering to the ground.
He Jiantao looked at his handiwork with satisfaction. With abilities corresponding to grenades, he could transform his internal energy into various types of grenades. His consecutive ambushes temporarily incapacitated the enemy.
Meanwhile, his coordinated teammate, Wang Tianlai, had already seized the opportunity. Two blobs of sticky liquid flung from his hands. An R B man who couldn't dodge in time was directly caught by the liquid. As he cursed and struggled to break free, the sticky substance adhered firmly to him and the ground. The harder he struggled, the more skin he ripped off, and he let out a miserable scream as blood gushed out.
Jiang Donghu strode over to the man, extending his scaly, dragon-claw-like right hand, placing it on the R B man's head. The man, sensing his impending death, fiercely spat out a string of Japanese while pressing his hands to his abdomen, attempting to detonate himself with internal energy to die along with the enemy. However, Jiang Donghu gave him no chance. His sharp dragon claws pierced the man's skull and snapped his neck with a twist.
Just as he was about to extract his hand and deal with another member of God's Desire the same way, a sharp blade aura split the sea of fire in two, slashing straight towards him. What surprised Jiang Donghu was that the R B man, who had lost all signs of life, suddenly raised his hands above his head, firmly holding his wrist.
Trying to break free was already too late. Jiang Donghu, seeing the blade aura coming fiercely, dodged to the side, lifted his leg, and kicked the nearby corpse high into the air. The murderous blade aura narrowly missed his cheek, slicing through his nose tip, and blood flowed immediately.
However, such a small amount of blood didn't concern Jiang Donghu because half his body was already drenched in fresh blood. Although this strike didn't inflict much damage on him personally, it sliced the R B man in half. The blade aura exploded upon colliding with the corpse, and the once-intact body instantly turned into a rain of blood and shredded meat, falling all around.
The R B man, whose neck was twisted by Jiang Donghu and then dismembered by his companion, even at the end, still didn't let go, clinging tightly to his enemy's right arm.
Dragging the remains of his enemy, Jiang Donghu turned to the two figures behind the sea of flames. The one wielding the blade was Shitang Longsi, and standing behind him, Su Xiang, waved at him with a smile, tossing a human-shaped talisman, already blackened, into the sea of fire before him.
Struggling to break the hands gripping his wrist, the unsupported corpse fell at his feet. The blood on his face blurred Jiang Donghu's vision, forcing him to wipe his face with his sleeve. In that brief moment of distraction, Shitang Longsi blurred into motion. In the next instant, accompanied by a sound like thunder, he appeared before Jiang Donghu, thrusting the long knife at his chest.
Jiang Donghu retreated repeatedly, while Shitang Longsi pursued relentlessly. Seeing no escape, Jiang Donghu puffed up his mouth and spit a bloody mist towards his opponent's face. Shitang Longsi tilted his head slightly, letting the bloody mist graze his face, and then heard a dull thud behind, where the blood mist enveloped in internal energy had left a small pit in the ground.
Seizing the opportunity, Jiang Donghu sidestepped to avoid the strike, grabbing the blade with one hand while aiming his other claw at Shitang Longsi's throat.
Shitang Longsi was surprised that his opponent dared to grab his blade barehanded, feeling insulted as if subjected to an enormous shame. He leaned back to dodge the attack, furiously channeling his internal energy into the long blade to pull it back with full force.
The long blade scraped against the scales, producing sparks and a hint of blood, as it was pulled back. Their figures crossed, jumping out of the combat range, and Shitang Longsi touched the three cuts on his neck left by the claw wind, his eyes brimming with intense fighting spirit as he looked at Jiang Donghu.
Jiang Donghu, clutching his bleeding hand, thought that an ordinary blade would have turned into scrap upon his grip. It wasn't the sharpness of the blade causing harm but the opponent's power at work, marking him as a troublesome adversary.
With this thought, he began healing the wound in his palm while surveying the surroundings. The earlier desire to expand the victory had been disrupted. Although Wang Tianlai trapped another person during the chaos, he couldn't finish him off. Under the counterattack of the God's Desire members, the trapped man was rescued.
He Jiantao's ambush remained ineffective, as the enemies had learned from experience, shielding their ears with internal energy and staying vigilant against his potential flash attacks.
"Old Jiang, don't worry about us. First, find a way to deal with that little R B guy; leave the rest to us!" Wang Tianlai shouted to Jiang Donghu, after sticking down the approaching long knife with his gooey adhesive.
Jiang Donghu didn't respond to his companion's suggestion. While his eyes focused on Shitang Longsi, his peripheral vision caught sight of Su Xiang, who since the battle began had shown no intention of joining in, slowly making his way around the battlefield towards the circle of light where Pei Jin stood.
"Hey! Isn't it too presumptuous to be so casual in a fight?" Shitang Longsi's clumsy Chinese, spoken amidst the sound of the swinging long knife, ignited Jiang Donghu's agitated thoughts. Facing the approaching blade, he neither dodged nor evaded, his entire body enveloped in internal energy, thundering, "Let's settle you first then!"
